A good Eggman? All we need is for the animators to come up with a good- AW FUCK IT'S LIVE ACTION I FORGOT!!

In all seriousness, though, Mike Pollock wouldn't look terrible with a fat suit and a shaved head.

Is there any way we can contact Sony about this? It almost certainly won't change anything, but holy shit, we have to try. I'm being dead serious when I say that I would lose sleep if I allowed this to happen without trying to stop it in some way, no matter how small.

I want to make it clear that while I used rather extravagant language in my earlier post, it reflects how I feel about this film project. Until it is confirmed to be entirely CG, I just can't see how this will be good. If you believe otherwise, then I not only respect you, but envy you. I wish I didn't have this opinion.

    First impressions:

I can't fucking do this anymore. A live-action CG animation hybrid from the Smurfs studio? I cannot fucking do this. I'm sick of seeing Sonic projects that are utter shit. I'm sick of it. Mark my words, this will be the Godzilla '98 of Sonic. Beneath this tripe and the Sonic Boom media orgy, lies a series that I love that will remain deafeningly silent until the powers that be relinquish their fetish for bullshit.

    Please return, Sonic the Hedgehog.

So yeah, I'm not exactly thrilled about this

Edit: and to all those who say it's too soon to criticize: you're wrong. I'm sorry; it's not too soon to praise, either. It's not too soon for anything which way, too late for whatever, etc.

Sony, the studio responsible for this project, has a track record of TWO live-action-CG-hybrids featuring blue heroes and a bumbling arch enemy. They did this in the first place out of Alvin and the Chipmunks envy, so now they get their wish. Smurfs + Alvin = Sony's Sonic. I wouldn't be surprised if this film had a rewritten script from the cancelled Smurfs 3 movie, which yes, did exist. Its cancellation left me wondering how the studio would continue its horrendous Smurf-inspired crusade. After all, Smurfs 2 was successful. Well, now we know. It's our beloved Sonic, raped and mutilated by the corporate monster that is Hollywood and Sony Pictures.

    But that's just my opinion

It looks like Samus is turning to the left, as if she's been hit by the egg and is recoiling from it while still in that crouch pose. Doesn't explain the foot breaker though.

Maybe they could replace her with Speed Racer because... Japan.... Ugh, what a stupid joke.

Perhaps that's the greatest offense of all: they're reminding us of Other M.

Thank you! This is what I was trying to say. And it wasn't just the heels to me; it's very clear that she's been sexualized in several other ways, which lends a great deal of credence to the insinuation that the heels were added for sex appeal, as well. Will I like looking at Samus any more than before? Well, no, actually, because I see this over-sexualization in every fighting game I've ever played, and it's bothersome that Samus has joined the club.

I don't see how there is any overreaction here. It just seems cheap. To me it's a sign of desparation to give the gaming community a reason to buy their next game and with it a Wii U. Smash Bros should never stoop so low. I might be reading too much into the redesign but that's just how it strikes me.

To me, it's evocative of exotic dancers. It isn't a huge deal, but I just find it silly and disappointing.

Can someone please elaborate on how and why ZSS looked "ugly" in Brawl? I never saw anything wrong with it, and it was really cool that her face looked like an average person instead of 10/10. I was never a fan of how she was sexualized, and I'm not going to pretend this is any worse than her red underwear from the NES, but its just disappointing how she was turned back into a sexy-sex symbol. Those boots are supposed to look like heels, and were obviously designed for sex appeal. I guess that's my main problem: her design was changed not to make her seem more badass or empowered, but to make her more titillating for the men to look at.

This is really an isolated example, though. I have no qualms about the other characters, and I agree that the vibrant colors look much better than the muddy dullness of Brawl.

So I'm probably late to the game on this, but Zero Suit Samus' new design is probably the most horrendous downgrade I've ever seen on a Nintendo character.

My problem with the Iizuka quote isn't even a gameplay issue. Boost or no, I have a problem with the general atmospheric philosophy of the Sonic Team titles. Their last game to really meld the environment with the levels, in a logically coherent sense, was Sonic Colors. Granted, that wasn't that long ago, and it still lends credence to the hope that future titles will return to this type of melding. Sonic Generations was essentially built around the idea that there was no world to connect the levels, so that didn't really raise any concerns for me that its disconnect between the hubs and the levels would represent Sonic's future.

It's Lost World that has me worried. What the hell is Lost Hex? Who the hell are the Zeti? Why the hell am I running through Candy Land when I'm surrounded by a desert?! Sonic games shouldn't be mishmashes of locations and characters thrown at your face with wanton abandon. They need context in order to remain interesting. The fact that Iizuka comes out and says this crap makes me think that Sonic Team is sticking with the Lost World philosophy, if not worse.

Are we still going to have... Normal Sonic?

I just.... I mean, I just dont even.... I really hate this new branding. There are now two Sonic universes, which sounds nice until you realize that means one of them will be eating into the other. Plus, the design discrepancies are going to confuse people.

I dont want to be negative but.... Damn. Just damn.
  15. SpikySprinter added a post in a topic 2014 is The Year Of Sonic "& Sports tape" *see post 1*

They can just label whatever changes they make as "progressive" and the masses will eat it up, right? Man, am I sick of that philosophy in gaming. Voice commands? "Progressive." Motion controls? "Progressive." Always online? "Progressive." A capable female character who isn't played for sex appeal? Oh... wow... that, uh, that actually is progressive, embarrassingly enough BUT YOU GET MY POINT.

I am sick and tired of gaming companies fixing things that simply aren't broken. That's assuming, of course, that this is even a rebooting of the series like we fear it is. I really hope it isn't. One thing does make me think that this is just about the show though: Sonic's SSBU model is already animated and everything, so why would they bother showing it to us if they were going to change it?
