I don't understand the hate for the 3DSXL. The DS Lite was announced around the same time of the DSes life span. Really, the 3DSXL and 3DS' only difference is portability as the XL will be in the same vein as the DSi XL. It's not like you're forced to buy it. And also: At least they gave the 3DS one year instead of Apple with the iPad 3, which everyone praised its unveilment

DS Lite was a sleek redesign for a bulky system.
3DSXL is just bigger.

Aqua has a point. There really isn't much to upgrade to justify a proper redesign, so a side-grade design isn't surprising.
