Agreed. I'm not sure why this picnic scene looks worse than what we've already seen in Unleashed and Generations.

Well, the picnic thing was right. I wonder what the justification of Blaze being there is, though we'll probably never get one.

Because all it is, is probably promotional stuff like Hunter said. She's there because Sega wanted to get a picture with Sonic's friends near a picnic. This almost certainly isn't going to be part of the opening.

It looks too good to be from Sonic Generations on the 3DS. It's obviously from the console version. At the same time, the console version should look better than that.

There's still the chance that this is showing a 3DS version of not Splash Hill, but Emerald Coast from Sonic Adventure to be one of the levels to represent the Dreamast era. In fact, I would be willing to put my money on that assumption based on the fact that the original Emerald Coast also had a whale chase on a bridge just like this one.

Regarding the party pic, my initial reaction was, "Why is Blaze here? By all technicality, doesn't she have a parallel dimension or future timeline to be the 'princess' of? (depending on whether or not you choose to follow the Sonic Rush 2 or Sonic '06 storylines) And judging by who else is there, shouldn't Big be there in her place?" It makes sense to me that Shadow isn't there because, for one, I can't imagine him being at a picnic ever. Way too out of character for him. And two, he's already established as a boss in this game, so... yeah.

Then I started putting the pieces together.

A tidbit of the story of this game was released recently that "Sonic and his friends are sent back in time... Sonic must team up with his younger self to rescue his friends." There are nine Zones in this game. I count nine friends in this pic. You see where this may be going?

RANDOM BULLSHIT SPECULATION TIME: They're having their picnic at Never Lake, and the Time Eater is directly connected to the Little Planet and the Time Stones.

While I don't particularly assume that this is the case (at least until I see more info), it still seems like a super-cool story, bro! You sir, get a high five from yours truly! This would be really great if it actually happened.

It's always great to see the Chaotix included with the main cast.

All the chars in that shot have already been revealed to be the amigo chars in Generations...they found it in the demo.

I was actually going with the speculation that perhaps each character is freed upon the completion of each zone.

Well no, we already knew Blaze was in the game and an amigo in a few missions.

However, what's she doing at his birthday party is another story. That's mighty committed friendship to travel dimensions to come to your birthday party.

However, I think this is either promotional or is from the end of the game rather than the beginning as part of the whole point of the game is saving your friends from time holes and such, and that happens to be all the amigo characters from Generations. Or again, could be promotional as there's a lack of the rival bosses.

No. One is for the PS3 and Xbox 360 version and the other for the 3DS version.

I'm not saying this is from the 3DS version, but do we even know how the cutscenes will be like in that version? They may ditch the Text based ones and have actual talking ones, like they did in Colours (a few were actual cutscenes).

Though I definatly agree its the console version, just throwing it out there that the 3DS one may have different cutscenes than we are used to.
