Nintendo 3DS conference happening this Friday

Iwata to deliver news that wasn't shared at last conference
Posted by Thomas East | Wednesday 19-Oct-2011 10:43 AM

Nintendo has announced that it is to hold another Nintendo 3DS conference in Japan this Friday.

Nintendo held a 3DS conference in September and now the company is holding another event in which President Satoru Iwata promises to deliver news that wasn't shared last month. What could it be?

Well Nintendo say that details about the planned November update for the Nintendo 3DS will be shared and there will be more news on Mario Kart 7.

The Nintendo 3DS conference takes place on Friday 21 October at 8pm (that's Midday UK time) and once again it will be live streamed via Ustream on nintendo.co.jp.

The last conference was brilliant as Nintendo showed off more Zelda Skyward Sword gameplay footage and revealed new trailers for Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Luigi's Mansion and more.

Nintendo also announced Fire Emblem 3DS, Mario Tennis 3DS and Monster Hunter 4.

We'll be covering the conference on Friday.

What do you think will be announced? Or what would you like to be announced? Discuss below or on our 3DS forum.

Following Nintendo's 3DS conference pre-TGS 2011, the company has announced that another one is on the way this Friday.

Here's hoping for some more big announcements.

Awww, and on the same day as the Rapture
I wonder what they'll announce here. Maybe demos on the e-shop.

It will probably be about the system update next month. Also it may be about the GBA games too.

but I hope another big 3ds title is announced. *crosses fingers for Metroid 5*

Also hate being "that guy" but wouldn't this be better to post in the 3ds topic?

oh nevermind, we could use this topic to talk about the conference, so we don't spam up the 3ds topic

We had a separate thread for the first conference and other gaming conferences. It means we can keep all discussion for the conference in one place, which is especially handy when everyone watches the conference during the live stream.

I heard it's going to be about the new update mainly but, a Conference would be a bit much for that unless it means a major eShop and online overhaul.

Actually I think Iwata did say that there was going to be a major redesign of the eshop coming soon.

EDIT: yep there's going to be an overhaul next month.

Sad face is... they can overhaul the eshop channel, but that won't get people to buy the system. We need games, and not ones thats coming out within 6 months from now, is the problem -_-'

The ONM article says:

Well Nintendo say that details about the planned November update for the Nintendo 3DS will be shared and there will be more news on Mario Kart 7.

But to hold a conference, there's got to be more than that.

I dunno, they squeezed a lot of air time out of Wii Music a couple of E3's ago. If they can fuck about with that for half an hour in front of thousands of viewers, they can do just about anything. That said, you'd think they'd want to get people excited for the 3DS by showing future titles from their stable of classic franchises; Metroid, Mario and so on.

It might be a revision of the hardware.
Which would make many people unhappy, and myself incredibly smug. Then again, it might not happen, which would make everyone else unconcerned and myself smug.

Which, again, is why Nintendo made the Second Circle Pad an accessory and not an entirely new redesign.

YouTube support incoming? Found on NeoGAF: http://andriasang.com/comype/

Nikkei has shared a few details on Nintendo's promised video capture support for 3DS.

According to the paper, video support will be added to the system in late November. Users will be able to take up to 10 minutes of 3D video, allowing them to enjoy uploading videos to external video sites like YouTube.

The Nikkei report lacks specifics. It doesn't even specifically state that you can upload videos to YouTube directly from your system. However, the timing of the report would suggest that Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata intends to address this issue during the presentation that Nintendo will be holding on Friday night, so we should get details shortly.

Regarding the Friday night presentation, Nintendo has said that topics include the system's November firmware update and Mario Kart 7's wireless play support.

Hoping for either a new Pokémon game or Pokémon Red/Blue for the eShop, seriously how are the 2 most popular GameBoy games still not there, yet games that half of the world never heard about like Alleyway and Qix are?

Meh, don't care about video's with the 3DS. The camera is complete shit on it. Not sure how much I care about the new StreetPass content either considering I didn't feel the old stuff was anything special. The eshop update is cool I guess, but I honestly didn't have too much of a problem with it to begin with.

I really hope there is more to the update then that stuff though. :/ I thought we were supposed to get downloadable demo's for retail games before years end. Also is there any chance of Mario Kart and Smash Bros having voice chat? If those games don't support voice chat then that newly announced 3DS heat set can go rot in hell along with Wii Speak for all I care.

At the very least we'll be getting more Mario Kart 7 info, so that's cool. Not hyped for this presentation at all though.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo wants you collecting pokemon on one of their newer (or some tba) titles then going back to Blue and Red from the original GB. Not saying I don't agree with you, but it's easy to see why they haven't and probably won't release Blue, Red or even Yellow on the Nintendo 3DS store.
