Really hope a demo does come out. £20 and with those freebies too, what a bargain. If a demo comes out so I can test performance, I'll pre-order for sure. If not I'll just be waiting for a price drop after launch since it's not essential I get it for PC.

Really hope there IS a demo and it DOES work fine though - if my collector's edition doesn't arrive day 1 it'll save me a trip to the shops.

Only $30? Wow, this is a great deal!

I'll definitely be buying Sonic Generations for the PC since my monster computer can handle almost anything. It's been a long time since Sonic has been on the PC back since Heroes so there is that feeling of uncertainty, but I'm going for it anyway.

Demo for the PC? Yes of course. Someone should be able to try it out and see which version they prefer to purchase: Console or PC?

You know that most Macs have more than one operating system? Windows 7 handles Generations fine on a mac with the Bootcamp method.

Just cancelled my console pre-order and nabbed this version instead like a boss.

The lack of a Team Fortress 2 anything is overwhelmingly depressing though. SEGA has done those sorts of promotions for the Total War (giant Shogun pack), Spiral Knights (glorious unlockable all-class hat), and Football Manager Steam releases (best Scout miscellaneous items in the entire freakin' game) so I figured a hat at an absolute minimum was a given. D:

But there isn't a single thing bar some tacked on classic titles and that makes me sad. :c However, three games plus what will ultimately prove to be the best version of Sonic Generations for a mere thirty bucks? That's a steal! I'm still hoping for the announcement of Casino Night and TF2 bonuses soon though, but even if they don't come I'll still be happy with this purchase.

This might come off as dickish and maybe spammish but...don't even start with that PC beats everything crap, I get tired hearing it from PC gamers all the time.

in other news, I too have steam, dont really bother with it much as there are games i still wanna buy but there is only so much my Netbook can handle and I doubt entirely it could handle Sonic Generations, though the pre-order bonus is pretty good :P

Though I can't imagine why Sonic 3D? none of it is getting represented in Sonic Generations by the look of things :/ still the more Sonic teh better

Even if the game doesn't allow it in a user-friendly manner like a lot of PC games do, modding does pretty much add as much replay value to the game as a modder's imagination and skill can provide. The only issue is of course whether people are clever enough to make their own stages or anything beyond simple skins and sound mods. Also of course the issue of whether PC will get any of the DLC. Not to mention stuff like the graphics being absoloutely perfect quality if your computer is fast enough.

It's a see-saw of arguements over PC will be best at the moment. We'll have to see how good the port is, how easy it is to mod, and whether it really will get the same level of support as the console versions in terms of updates and DLC. Of course all the effort they've gone through (Steam Cloud/Achievements/etc) is promising considering they never did that with SaSASR.

Trust me, when it comes to FPS games, PC gamers are very ignorant and claim their opinion as fact, and with regards to modding, your pretty much right :) but I haven't seen any good mods for PC sonic games beyond the usual, play as supersonic in every stage, turn emerald coast into greenhills etc.

Unlike Halo:CE where I've seen maps of Peach's Castle from Mario 64 or Levels from Sonic Heroes, I think modding is pretty awesome to some regard but i enjoy my game the way it is, sure it adds replay value but it's usually such an effort to install a mod, or maybe I'm just not technical enough?

oh wells xD

Well that's usually because with FPSes the keyboard and mouse control is often considered superior because you just point and click, simple as. There are a small minority of people who still prefer controllers even after using keyboard and mouse for a long time but I personally find them clunky. You have to play for a lot longer to be point-and-click efficient with a controller.

Mods can be annoying to install if the developers don't support them (Valve's games tend to be very simple to install mods on because Valve love their modding community), but even if they are it doesn't subtract anything away from the game. Mods of any sort are better than none at all, whether you choose to use them or not.

PC will never be able to compete with the simplicity and user-friendliness of consoles (though to be fair, Steam DOES bridge the gap a lot - games that are properly made up for the platform are usually as simple as installing them in the background with a couple of simple clicks - and then you're sorted as long as your PC can run the game lol).

Of course, most PC gamers work from the angle that everyone should have a gaming capable PC - and that's where the arrogance arises. PC gaming is tricky to get into if you don't have someone to help, and once you've been playing games on PC a while, you tend to forget that.

As you might have guessed I bat for both sides. I love my PC just as much as I love my consoles for their individual strengths - in Generations case I'm prioritising on 360 because I know that one will work consistantly. For some reason whenever I play a PC port there's always that uncertain feeling that it might not crash at the start but could halfway through for some odd reason because my PC could handle all that but has a problem with THIS level or whatever.
