Ok, so we all know Sega put a LOT of effort into this game presentation-wise, so let's see just exactly how much cool stuff we can find in the game that may have passed others by.
Post any unusual stuff you may have noticed!

Some things I've spotted :

Boss names in the hub world turn from red to gold once S ranked,

Challenge gates spew out more sparkles once S ranked.
(Side note, Casino Night seems to be permanently red, does it change once you hit a certain high score?)

In the hub world outside Sky Sanctuary there's grapes hanging from the trees. Since I haven't seen these in the actual level, this has to be a reference to Knuckles' bio in the Sonic 3 manual.

Sky Sanctuary challenge title - Aerial Paradise. A literal rewording/dodgy translation of Sky Sanctuary?

City Escape challenge title - Rite of Spring. Reference to Stravinsky's classical piece of the same name (no idea why though!)

Speed Highway challenge title - Hot Pursuit. A Need For Speed reference, or just coincidence?

Planet Wisp challenge title - With Your Powers Combined. Am I going mad or is this a Captain Planet reference??

I'll leave the posters, signs and building names in Speed Highway/City Escape to someone else, as this'll be a mammoth job unto itself!

EARTH! (Eggman drilling into the earth).

FIRE! (Fire shield).

WIND! (urm... pass).

WATER! (Aqua shield)

HEART! (urm... pass).

I guess had there been a lightning ring in Captain planet then it would be a sure thing, but it certainly sounds like a Captain Planet reference.

Heres the captain planet song if anyone needs convincing.

EDIT : I spotted something else in the hub, when playing as Classic Sonic, Classic Tails does his yawning idle animation from Sonic 2!

Quite low down when you enter the factory as Classic. Yeah, I've seen him too! There's also one Aero Chaser in Classic Rooftop Run on the blimp who gets stuck and can't escape before the thing blows up. He's on the lower part, right before the spring.

I hate captain planet, everyone in that show was useless.

On topic, I got an s rank in rooftop run and vector says "I heard you got an s rank. What surprised? Nothing is faster then the rumor mill." instantly i was like "does he mean sega forum's rumor mill?" lol.

Edit: Oh, i think vector said this to modern sonic, and it might not be exactly what he said but i know he mentioned the rumor mill.
