Sean hit the nail right on the head in regards to it conflicting violently with my real world goals.

Um no dude. I was making a warning against you. I am warning you to not bring up your emotional baggage in this topic, because some people just don't want to really hear it in a discussion like this.

So hi. I was at an anime con last weekend and this is some shit I wasted money on:

Posted Image
S.H. Figuarts Trunks. tamashii stands, Nendoroid Petit Mami (schoolgirl) and Godoka (the super secret chase figure omgosh!), a chibi Komoe trading figure, and Transformers Prime War Breakdown (which is not from an anime oops I'm banned from this thread)

And here's some stuff I got for free (except the Kurisu clear file)
Posted Image
I'm especially happy with that Panty and Stocking poster. It looks so stellar on my wall.

Posted Image
And here's my badge, which I got signed by Gen Urobuchi (who helped write Madoka Magica and wrote Fate/Zero and Black lagoon).

I've also got numerous pics of cosplayers and stuff but idk if they would go here or in the Picture thread. sum1 guide me

Wow, pretty good haul, I wish I could get my hands on that Bakemonogatari, and Steins;Gate merchandise.

Currently enjoying an imported OVA (Amuri In Star Ocean), Aria The Natural, borrowed the first DVD of Galaxy Angel from a friend and considering s-cry-ed solely for a voice actor involved.

Kurama is awesome.

Hey you, yeah you, I'm talking to YOU! I was listening to one of my Hello Kitty CDs and the J voice of Lina/girl Ranma/Kitty/Jessie from Pokemon (Megumi Hayashibara) was singing Do Re Fa So La Ti Do and Yankee Doodle for kids. She did a song about donuts.

Finished watching Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Wow. Just...wow... I like the majokko genre, so a friend of mine told me to watch this series ( he also added "I'm sure you'll love it), so I did. Then episode 3 happened. At first I was kinda surprised because, well, I totally didn't expect THAT particular thing to happen. But after watching it in its entirety, I can safely say that I love it. I still find Kyubei an annoying dick, though.

Kurama is awesome.

Hell yeah! And I don't even like effeminate-looking pretty boys in my cartoons!

I've been on a Madoka kick as of late, despite the fact I refuse to watch the show again because 1) The DVDs/Blu Rays are just too damn expensive and 2) IT'S JUST TOO DAMN DEPRESSING. Still an awesome show, though. Oh well, that doesn't keep me from buying some merch:

Just bought the two figure set on eBay, the single Mami figure is preordered for a November release. Couldn't resist the first Mami figure with her cup of tea and the pose of the second Mami figure is just too awesome. Yeah, I'm a Mami fan.

A Mami fan, eh? Well, she's got class, I admit. But my favourites are Kyoko and Sayaka. Maybe I'll buy an action figure too, next comic fair.

I've had a bad experience buying figurines on eBay; the Nendoroid I ordered had chipped paint and the parts were really loose. Since the shipper was in China, shipping it back would have cost almost as much as the damn thing itself, so I had to resort to asking for a $12 refund and sold it to a creepy weaboo later on.

Anyone know a specific seller I should look for?

I like her because she curtseys and rifles fall from her skirt. That's F'N AWESOME.

eBay

shipper was in China

That tends to be a recipe for disaster. You're very likely to get bootlegs.

For newer releases and preorders, one should go for Japan-based online stores, such as HLJ, Hobbysearch or Amiami. Older and/or discontinued items are a bit more of a pain, but you might get lucky searching on Mandarake (just keep in mind that searching using your item's Japanese name might garner better results).

Generally, one should use ebay as a last resort, but you can find authentic items there. Make sure that the seller says their item is authentic in its description (so you can get your cash back if they lied) and avoid most Chinese sellers or sellers that say that their item is a "Chinese exclusive" or something along those lines. Also, items that were just released tend to not have bootlegs at first.

I take it there aren't any sites where I can pay with USD as opposed to Yen?

You could try and browse Amazon, bound to find better deals on there, and mostly reliable.

All the sites I listed accept Paypal, which converts currency.

Unless you meant like, actual money and not via credit/debit or Paypal? If so, I think that HLJ let you mail them checks or cash. Not sure about the others.

So I recently heard about this anime called Sword Art Online. The premise, being trapped in a video game, makes me think of .hack or that one Sonic episode where he and his brother get too into virtual reality. Has anyone actually seen this? And if so, is it any good? Judging by dates on youtube, it seems relatively new.

Been watching it on Crunchyroll, I like it. Though some people are saying its either going to have an original ending or have at least 50 or so episodes, or be heavily cut to get to the actual ending. I haven't read the novel though, something on my to do list. Basically, new MMORPG gets released, the creator is actually insane and traps people inside the game, if they die in th game they die in real life because the device on their heads will microwave their brains.

Currently enjoying my first harem anime (not counting Tenchi when I was little) cute, child-like robot that beat Rock Lee in a fight possibly, a character that's recurring comic relief, the English voice of Naraku from Inuyasha, puns, and 90s! Love my decade! I wish I had a robot that was so cute and powerful my spine broke!

Whoa whoa whoa, 50 episodes? I did not see that coming... Ffff. Well thanks for the heads up! I haven't been on Crunchyroll in forever but I do see that 5 episodes are up now. Hopefully by the weekend I'll be all caught up and ready! :}

...Microwaved brains. I did not expect that either. Hopefully the big reveal when they inevitably show someone suffer from that isn't too goretastic. Yikes.

Read the Breaker for cute and socially retarded, but manipulative as all hell Sera Kang. Love the Breaker for Jin-Li.

Continuing on my little anime figure buying spree, I picked up a trio of Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya figures:

I actually owned the Mikuru festival figure before, but had to sell it about a year or so ago due to money issues. Working 60-70 hour work weeks nowadays has it's benefits. LOL Ended up paying a fraction of the price of what I originally payed for it and even sold it for. And I always wanted a decent Tsuruya and Ryoko figure, so there you have it.

I better stop this spending money thing... I may start to like it. :D
