The Official Sonic 4 on PC discussion topic

I haven't played it since October 2010, the month it came out. I beat it once, and never touched it again, ever. I still see it on my Wii System Menu every time I use my Wii, but the thought, "let's play Sonic 4" has never crossed my mind, at all. Does that sound like a good game?

I never finished Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Mario Sunshine, Ocarina of Time or Okami. I got stuck somewhere and never touched them again. They must be horrible games fo sure

Got the PC version along with Sonic CD. It's official. Sonic 4 Episode 1 on PC is the WORST port out of everything except WiiWare. I get a black screen when trying to play the game full screen (however I can play the game on Windowed mode), and there is no support for 1920x1080 (Full HD). The max resolution I have is 1280x720 and my 3D monitor is capable of displaying Full HD. So what gives.

EDIT: Forgot to mention. This game doesn't support my PS3 controller either. So I have to use the keyboard. =/

cool story bro, but that doesn't change the fact that I did not enjoy my experience with Sonic 4. I didn't explain why I disliked it, but I don't think I need to, for the same reasons other people have stated many times.

With that said, I respect JezMM's opinion that he liked Sonic 4. In my opinion, I don't like Sonic 4, and I know that lots of other people don't either...

Did anyone notice the cleverly hidden Chili Dogs in the background of Casino Street? They're very hard to see if you don't zoom in on them.

I actually never caught that. Just..kind of assumed that they were the bright lights of a casino in the distance, I don't usually match up chili dogs with slot machines and cards. Pretty interesting, though.

I imagine people who played it on Wii or Smartphone might not have seen it? D= The background was really clear on PS3 with HDMI cable, though you did have to stop and look at it of course.

I played Sonic 4 on my Xbox 360. But..then again, I don't have an HD TV, so I couldn't use the HDMI cable, so that might have had something to do with it.

It was definitely pointed out back in the days of the PartnerNET leaks and off-screen footage :P

Just found out that forcing anti-aliasing through the drivers (at least on AMD graphics cards) works for Sonic 4 Ep 1, but only at certain resolutions. So far from what I've tested, it works at 1280x720, but doesn't work at any other resolutions I can use. My screen goes only up to 1440x900, and the only 16:9 resolution I have for Sonic 4 Ep 1 is 1280x720, so it's possible that either AA only works at 16:9 resolutions for Sonic 4, or it only works at 1280x720.

Anyway, here's pictures showing the difference between no AA and 8x AA.

No Anti-Aliasing:

Forced 8x Anti-Aliasing through the AMD drivers:

EDIT: Here's Sonic from both of the previous pictures, but zoomed to 2x.

Left is no AA, right is 8x AA:

EDIT2: Tried this on my brother's PC (he has a 1080p screen), forcing anti-aliasing through the drivers only works at 1280x720, at least on AMD/ATI graphics cards. It didn't work at any of the other resolutions.

I posted before about the effects of Anti-Aliasing in Sonic 4 Episode 1, this time I tried with the iPad version Sonic texture, so here's a comparison picture.

Left pictures have no anti-aliasing, right pictures have 8x anti-aliasing:

Hot damn, that model looks good. Makes me wonder why SEGA just didn't port the iPad version or model.

I wonder how long it'll take for a Classic Sonic skin to be hacked in.

When someone makes .AMB files 100% unpackable and repackable, that's when you'll see something like this.
