Airing one episode doesn't cost much, when you talk about licensing an entire series though, that's a whole new monster altogether. It would have been nice to see it on the air but hey, that isn't cheap. The budget for Toonami isn't what it used to be, and I can't blame them for testing the waters on a brand that died over 3 years ago.

Actually the "cost" issue the quote was talking about was from Naruto's end. VIZ wants too much. DBZ is cheaper but its Nicktoons being total pricks thats the issue.

There's sure been a lot of teasing going on with Panty and Stocking:

Charlene Ingram‏@tristencitrine

Keep on spreading the love... there may be some #pantyandstocking fancifulness tomorrow. Maybe.

If they ever get Panty and Stocking on there, that would be the greatest thing ever to happen to Toonami!

Tags: One Piece, Naruto, no Bleach :U

Um, I'm pretty sure Toonami is more likely to put on Bleach than reair the filler filled Naruto or wonderfully dubbed One Piece...

The schedule:
12:00 a.m. Bleach
12:30 a.m. Deadman Wonderland
1:00 a.m. Casshern Sins
1:30 a.m. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
2:00 a.m. Ghost in The Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG
2:30 a.m. Cowboy Bebop

After that it loops, I guess. It's on the Toonami site, I believe.

And from Jason demarco (Who, I guess works at CN, but I'm copying all of this from another forum)

Yup, there ya have it, so can we please change these tags now?

Also...

SPEAKING OF WHICH: Something you should know about THIS Toonami: We have very, very little $$. This experiment will need ratings success to receive more funding for new shows, more Tom animation, etc. I’m thankful for the $$ we’ve gotten, but it isn’t a lot.

...yeah, if you're planning on increasing ratings, you could, oh, I don't know, let Toonami start at 11? 12 is annoyingly later than it used to be and I happened to have discovered Toonami BECAUSE it came on before 12 (my bedtime used to be at 12 back in the day when I got this mysterious thing called a "sleep").

But anyway, earlier timeslot = more people will be able to see it, thus more ratings... So either do that or don't complain about not getting enough money, okay? :P

Well At least Drunk people who are coming back from Night Clubs at like 3 AM can help Toonami's ratings LOL! xD

Sorry, they don't have control over when Toonami starts, Adult swim does, and Adult Swim does not want to risk losing ratings because of the haphazard chance this project fails.

This is the current tier of things:

Time Warner > Turner Broadcasting > Cartoon Network > Williams Street > People running [Adult Swim] > People running Toonami.

You see how low they are on the tier here? there a sub-division of [AS] a tiny hole in the wall not like before when Toonami was Half of WS. were lucky to have Toonami back! I wouldn't bitch about timeslots right now.

Besides if things go well we may get the 11pm hour back soon. so just watch!

How are the people at Nicktoons being "total pricks"? CN didn't renew their license with the most popular Dragon Ball shows so they missed out. Nicktoons had the chance to license them so they did. Even if Nicktoons didn't have it, it'd most likely be too much to aquire as of right now. Also, I somehow doubt that DBZ is "cheaper" than another long-running shonen that sells less.

Preview of Richie Branson's ToonamisBackBitches song. It sounds really cool. It's a cool way of thanking [AS] and it's a cool tribute to Toonami.

Its Nicktoons having KAI and GT but not allowing CN to use the original DBZ even though there not airing the original DBZ. Were talking old FUNi dub here, not the dragonboxes or something else with remastered dubbing. KAI is a different show when compared to original DBZ but if its that much of a problem, then at least give us Buu Saga. I know Nicktoons won't be airing that...

And yes DBZ is cheaper then Naruto, Jason DeMarco said so over his Twitter. its VIZ's fault, there charging waaay too much to license the show to them. Even DisneyXD dropped the show now! I'm guessing its probably the same reason.

Viz does realize having the show on air is better than not having it on air right? Whatever.

(I don't like Naruto, I'm just pointing out stupidity.)

In all honesty, Viz needs to get their heads out of their asses and think about how many of their shows are actually airing on TV these days.

In all honestly Viz needs to get their heads out of their asses and release the rest of Monster on DVD. Oh, and maybe actually decide to fucking release Tiger and Bunny.

If Nicktoons doesn't have the original DBZ dub then they have no say in what CN can and cannot do. I think they meant that they don't want to air DBZ because Nicktoons is the new Dragon Ball franchise carrier, that and it's probably just too expensive right now. Either way, I'm grateful. DBZ doesn't need to air again when new shows deserve the spotlight... That and the original DBZ dub is such a joke; Kai should be the only one around these days anyway.

It doesn't matter if its a joke now or not, we Toonami fans still hold fond memories of that dub. Kai is superior but the original will allways be top tier for US fans (unless your one of those KaiZEX hardcore fans).

Kai didn't even finish, Seeing Buu right now would at least complete the story for fans who started with Kai.

I'm a big fan, yeah... Nowhere near hardcore as those people, though; just 'cause I like the original Japanese version more because the dub's bad doesn't make me a "KaizEX hardcore fan." Posted Image I still hold fond memories of the dub too, but it's just so jacked up I can't even watch it anymore unless I want a laugh or two. Regardless of nostalgia, it's best to let the newer generation of fans be exposed to more accurate material rather than that old dub on par with 4Kids practices. It's a shame there's no Buu arc in Kai, but oh well.

The Buu arc was at least the more manageable arc of the Funimation dub so I certainly wouldn't mind if it aired on Toonami, though Kai should air for the rest of the show, just because of how much better it is.

Yeah by Late Cell-Early Buu FUNi had their act together and produced a really good dub of those Sagas. And your thinking about the old Saban dub were not talking THAT far back they should go (besides those have been replaced with the Uncut dubs) those were just...bad.

But then again, 4kids really jacked up KAI in the CW4kids version. Wtf, Blue Popo? and why does Gohan have a derp eye? why did they edit the dragon out the intro?! WHY IS VEGETA EATING BLUE MUSHROOMS?!?! oh and you gotta love chotzu's MAGIC HAPPY SPARKLE DEATH!!!

Just as bad as saban's edits in my opinion.
