What levels would you have chosen?

For the HD version I would have

Green Hill

Chemical Plant

Lava Reef

Casinopolis

City Escape

Seaside hill

Kingdom valley

Windmill Isle

Planet Wisp

For the 3DS, I actually like the stages and bosses it currently has but here is what I would go with for handheld titles

classic

Green Hill Zone

Casino Night Zone

Sandopolis - we need a trope like this one

Metal Sonic - just like he was

Big Arm - One of my favorite bosses so I won't change him

Advance/Dreamcast

Sky Canyon - never played any of the advance games but I like this one

Route 99 - Shadow's battle could easily be transferred to here

Shadow - like I said Route 99

Biolizard - I am leave it here cuz the game had the focus of Robot, Monster, Robot for main bosses and I don't think that Advance had

any monsters of the week as final bosses

Modern

Water Palace - I like the level even though I never played any Rush titles either

Sky Babylon - It would be the handheld version of Sky Sanctuary

Blaze or Silver - either or doesn't matter

Egg Nega Wisp - I was against this one when the speculation was going around for it but seeing that the Generations takes after the events of Colors and the fact that I left out a Colors level, Egg Nega Wisp could cover for the required Colors rep.

of Colors

The following levels are what I would hae chosen for Generations:

Classic Era:

Sonic 1 - Starlight Zone. Naturally GHZ was the obvious choice but I think Starlight would have looked amazing in 3D.

Sonic 2 - Casino Night or Mystic cave would have been a superiour choice to the shit as hell CPZ. Just how the hell did that crap get chosen?

Sonic 3 and S&K should have been split insted of being one game. For Sonic 3 I would have chosen Carnival Night ( I would have loved to have seen everyone struggle with that barrel again) or Ice Cap.

For S&K it should have been either Lava Reef, The Death Egg or especially The Doomsday Zone. Someone tell me just how the fuck that piece of crap level (Sky Sanctuary) won! Just what in the hell were those moronic casual voters thinking? Did they just go for the easiest level? Hell it isn't even a proper level and the worst level in Sonic history!

Dreamcast Era:

SA1 - Emerald Coast or Twinkle Park. Especialy Twinkle Park. That would have looked awesome in HD and anything is better than Speed Highway.

SA2 - I like City Escape but I think I would have prefered the Jungle levels.

Heroes - I would have much prefered either The Haunted Mansion or Frog Forrest from that game.

Modern Era:

IMO the modern games shouldn't have been in it. SEGA had already delisted those retarded messes of a games in 06 and Unleashed.

I have never played 06 nor do I want to (I played the demo once for 5 minutes, came to my senses, thought what the hell am I doing and quit).

Believe it or not I thought that Rooftop run was one of the better levels in the game. I would have prefered Apotos but Rooftop will do.

At first I thought Planet Wisp was alright. But that was before I had played Colours. Now that I have I reckon that Starlight Carnival, Sweet Mountain and Asteroid Coaster would have been better choices. Especially Starlight Carnival. I would have loved to have seen that in HD.

IMO the levels were far too samey and that there was not enough variety and that there were far too many first levels in it. But folks that is what you should expect when that total moron Iizuka puts an important poll regarding what levels to put into the game on CRAPBOOK and TW*TTER and listens to the casuals insted of putting it here on the SEGA sites and listening to the hardcore fans.

That's pretty rude. How can you even tell who voted (casual and hardcore) in the polls anyway? SEGA said themselves that they casually posted the poll on their facebook and they didn't tell the voters that they're going to use the stages with the highest number of votes in a future Sonic game. I thought Sky Sactuary is a very good pick. They took the level from S3&K and made it better. Don't be bashing the voters cause your favorite levels didn't make it in.

Here are the levels I would have chosen. :3

------

CLASSIC ERA

Sonic 1:

STAR LIGHT ZONE

Starlight.png

I'm serious. This zone doesn't get enough love. This is probably one of my fav levels in Sonic 1. The music and scenery is amazing, and it could be a nice, and peaceful, and fun level to play as Classic and Modern Sonic.

Sonic 2:

AQUATIC RUIN ZONE

199878-son2_10_super.gif

C'mon, you've got to admit this is a classic. Running away from dem pillars, finally away from them, thinking your safe.. then an arrow hits you. xD It would be nice to balance this stage with the ruins scenario, and water platforming.

Sonic CD:

COLLISION CHAOS

Collision_Chaos_Present.png

As no real level from Sonic CD was represented, (other than the Metal Sonic boss fight in Stardust Speedway). This would probably be a great level choice. Seeing our Classic and Modern hero go through an exhilarating pinball trip would be be very nice to see. The Time Travel feature could also be in this level for Classic and Modern, letting Sonic go to the past, present, and you determine whether the future would be good or bad.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles:

ICE CAP ZONE

Icecap.png

Since SEGA counts Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles as one game, we only got one level from it. It was from the Sonic & Knuckles half. Now.. how about Sonic 3? Ice Cap Zone is probably one of the most memorable Sonic 3 levels, and since there is no ice themed zone, it would be a great choice. Snowboarding in both parts would be a great addition, and ice gimmicks could be implemented.

------------

DREAMCAST ERA

Sonic Adventure:

TWINKLE PARK

Twinklepark.jpg

One of my favorite levels in Sonic Adventure. It would've been a great choice for this game, but Speed Highway was good too. In Modern, you would go kart racing on a track, and then transport into the park itself, bopping badniks, running, and going on a super-fast rollercoaster. It's epic. In Classic, you could run around the zone, and play occasional minigames around the way.

Sonic Adventure 2:

METAL HARBOR

320px-Metalharbor.png

This.. epic. Imagine going through an entire military fleet, avoiding F-16s, and even rocketing up in the air, and skateboarding down a corridor. Even though this level was short in SA2, the concept of the level could be expanded on in this game.

Sonic Heroes:

EGG FLEET

350px-Sh_Egg_Fleet.png

This level would have been.. amazing in this game. No not amazing. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. We needed a good ol' Eggman level in this game, and this would've been it. The level is very colossal, and the bunch of ships in the area, the rails, the exhilaration. everything. Modern's level could be based on exploration, a bit more than speed. Classic's level could be based on using vehicles to traverse the area, like flying machines.

-----------------

MODERN ERA

Sonic '06:

KINGDOM VALLEY

320px-Kingdomval.png

Probably the obvious choice for Sonic '06. The showcase level of the game, Kingdom Valley. The stage would look unbelievably beautiful in the Hedgehog Engine, the wind grinding would have been a great addition, including the eagles, and the mach speed section. Classic's level would have consisted of running and platforming through the castles in the valley.

Sonic Unleashed:

DRAGON ROAD

350px-Dragonroad.png

Dragon Road. Only a man could dream. Everything was exhilarating, yet calm at the same time. The music, the Chinese feel, and especially running down the Great Wall and that giant Dragon. Modern's would be similar to that of the original level, but with new surprises, Classic's could consist of platforming up the Chinese mountains, and finally running down the Great Wall.

Sonic Colors:

STARLIGHT CARNIVAL

300px-Starlight_carnival.jpg

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Starlight Carnival. Oh, how I wonder you were not in this game. This was the stage that made Sonic Colors... well, colorful. The music is upbeat and awesome, and the glowing lights, and transparent, disappearing paths. The glowing fleet of ships is cool too, and the giant portal in the middle of the stage made it just more epic. You could also probably use the Green, and Cyan Wisps.

-----------------

Yeah, that's my level selection. =D

And I thought Nicochi was annoying...these parts of your paragraph almost make you sound like another version of him.

My my... this guy seems worse than mariotehplumber. D= What'd he do?

It's not so much a did as it is a does.

Frequent flamewars on deviantART, elitist pompous attitude, "I'm always right, you're always wrong" mindset...

He's the full embodiment of what we would call a "Retrofag," though I don't like using that term... he would be the prime example.

At any rate...

Do we want to talk about DLC levels we'd include, too?

The only level as DLC I really have a demand for is anything from Sonic 3 aside from Angel Island, and perhaps something full from CD as well, even if it's only a full level version of Stardust Speedway. The fact that the Sonic 3 half in BOTH versions was only represented by a boss in the secondary version was kind of odd to me, especially considering the caliber of the levels and level design. Also that they picked the one level in S3&K that WASN'T a big-ass 2 act level (Hidden Palace and Doomsday don't count really), but that's my only major issue with the choices in the main version (haven't played 3DS but WHY IN THE LOVE OF FUCK DID THEY PICK MUSHROOM HILL etc.) as I said in my other post here.

Perhaps something like a Good Future skin for Stardust Speedway, as well as music remixes, would be awesome but unlikely.

I don't mind how many city levels are in mostly because they're the iconic levels of those games, and seemed to be either include iconic levels or have a variety and they were boned whichever way they went about it. Even Speed Highway. For me it was either that or Emerald Coast, though if Speed Highway wasn't in I'd have preferred to see Lost World.

If Crisis City wasn't in, I'd have liked to have seen what they would have done with White Acropolis and Aquatic Base, those two had potential. However, I think Crisis City was the most iconic level and actually turned out to be my favourite in the game despite some weird level design, so yeah :x

Tbh, I think City Escape could have gone easily and had something different from SA2 for the variety, but it is the most iconic level. Final Rush would have been great, but being not the last level would have been odd :P Maybe we'll get a proper Final Rush as DLC... nah doubt it. Would be sweet though.

If we didn't have any Colours representation, I'd have definitely picked Eggmanland from Unleashed, would have been an awesome final level, but Rooftop Run is good considering it's not the last game here. Planet Wisp probably made for the best "final" level, but needed better level design and to be more, well, epic really, as well as having more 3D. Final levels imo should build upon the gameplay, I mean Eggmanland does this really well with the bobsled rollercoaster, the dickery of the Werehog pipe walks, and the trickiest platforming, but the fact Planet Wisp is mostly 2D in Modern and Spikes spam in Classic really hurt it.

Well at least emerald coast made it to 3ds so both the levels yo wanted made it in!wink.png I personally would have chose Twinkle park instead but am fine with speed highway. For 06 yeah aquatic base would have been cool. CLASSIC REMIX NOW! Although i think kingdom valley also had potential.

First I'd add more levels. I think that the best choice would 4 stages per era so entire game had 12 stages just like Sonic 2 and 3K.

Classic Era

Green Hill - my favourite stage from Sonic 1. It had a lot of good platforming and speed. I couldn't have any other choice, after all it's first stage in entire franchise.

Chemical Plant - best stage in Sonic 2. It's fast, cool and have amazing music. Probably my favorite factory level in the series.

Quartz Quadrant - that was hard choice between this stage, Tidal Tempest and Stardust Speedway but this stage won. I'd like to see Modern Sonic skiping through dark caverns in the past. I just love this stage.

Ice Cap - fan favourite and great ice stage. Probably best representation of 3K. Holoska from Unleashed looked so great! I WANT MORE ICE LEVELS!!!

Dreamcast Era

Emerald Coast - I know that this level was chose for 3DS buuut I want this level in 3D and on console version! It could also have some underwater segments for both Sonics much like Seaside Hill in original Generations.

Green Forest - hard choice between this and Metal Harbor but we NEED jungle/forest level and I'd really wanted to hear remix of this stage music.

Egg Fleet - best stage in Heroes, best music in Heroes, what more you want? At the very end of the stage Sonic could be lunched high into the sky. Sky would turn black and then Sonic enter grinding section with these LAZARS and breaking building looking like Eggman face...Hey! I can dream after all!

Sky Troops - only stage from Shadow that really impressed me with it's epicness. It could have Sky Sanctuary references for Classic and passing rain clouds in HD would look so COOL.

Modern Era

Kingdom Valley - as much as I love Crisis City this stage would been so much better. Just imagine Speed Mach Section with these graphics and gameplay!!!

Sand Oasis - that would be really good desert level. Arabian atmosphere and this that level isn't boring as hell *cough*sandopolis*cough* make Sand Oasis very unique.

Skyscraper Scamper - my personal favourite city stage from entire franchise. Modern Sonic could run through highways during day and Classic Sonic could climb skyscrapers during night. I WANT DLC WITH THIS LEVEL!!!

Asteroid Coaster - as much as I love Planet Wisp, Generations showed why It wasn't good choice. So what you say for mind-breaking rollercoaster in space with green lava and asteroids?

So this is my choice of the levels. I hope you enjoyed reading this entire paragraph.

Some good ideas. Lost World was not something I would have thought off.

Assuming they would have kept the same worlds, I would have just added 3. One for each era.

Classic: Sonic CD Collision Chaos-This is the level where Amy is kidnaps and I think it's underminded. It has more story significance than most of the stages and is a casino theme which the PS3/360 game doesn't have. It also is kind of weird and funky so it fills a different roll

Dreamcast: Cyber Track- Advance doesn't have a lot of memorable stages. This one has some good music, is fast, and has some unique hazards. Seeing as advance was a whole series, make sense to give it a stage. Ice Mountain could be an nice alternative.

Modern:Mirage Road-Again, adding a Rush stage and one with some nice music. Again, different style. Seems fitting. Any stage from Sonic Secret Rings could work too, but I'm partial to Evil Foundry.

I have to say, there were so many games they could have used. The Game Gear games, Sonic 3, Sonic CD, the Advance and Rush games and Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic 4. A fully 2D one with Tails and Knuckles would be perfect. Could also add more levels.

Okay, even though I was pretty alright with the level choices, I'll post my big fantasy dream not at all realistic dream list just for the hell of it. Keep in mind, i'm gonna ditch the "era" setup and just have a level from all the main games. And a few not so main games.

-Sonic 1: Springyard Zone. Yeah, I know, not Green Hill, but Springyard Zone is just so cool. And Springy. And yardy.

-Sonic 2: Mystic Cave. DAT MUSIC. DAT INESCAPABLE SPIKE PIT.

-Sonic CD: Wacky Workbench. DEM BOUNCY FLOORS.

-Sonic 3: Hydrocity. There is no better water level in the series.

-Sonic and Knuckles: Sky Sanctuary. Very glad this one made it in, just a beautiful place.

-Sonic R: Resort Island. So we can feel the sunshine in glorious HD.

-Sonic Adventure: Ice Cap. Make the game extra cool, extra wild, and extra groovy.

-Sonic Adventure 2: City Escape. DAT TED POLEY.

-Sonic Heroes: Egg Fleet. Takin' down that fleet of ships with the Hedgehog Engine would be badassery in its purest form. And the level would have a teamwork gimmick.

-Sonic 06: Crisis City. Another one where I'd stick with what was chosen, just cause it's such a unique level for the series.

-Secret Rings: Evil Foundry. The game rocked as it was, but it didn't rock the place.

-Sonic Unleashed: Dragon Road. Yeah, I just like this place for some reason. And there would have been a Werehog segment just because Werehog needs representation.

-Black Knight: Far Away Avalon. Just cause I like that place too.

-Colors: Planet Wisp. Gonna stick with the game's choice because this really is a beautiful level. Woulda used more Wisp Powers than just two.

-Generations: Some kind of epic finale. I'm thinking Green Hill Zone floating in some kind of time space void. So think checkered hills in the middle of a Special Stage. With random shit from all the games showing up all over the place.

NOW FOR THE BOSSES:

Sonic 1: Wrecking ball thing. Just too iconic.

Sonic 2: Death Egg Robot, game handled this quite well.

Sonic CD: Metal Sonic, again game handled it well.

Sonic 3: Marble Zone Boss. I like that Tails throwing Sonic thing.

Sonic and Knuckles: Knuckles. Why not?

Sonic R: Uhhhhhh..... TJ Davis?

Sonic Adventure: Perfect Chaos, is there any other option?

Sonic Adventure 2: Shadow, see above.

Sonic Heroes: Egg Albatross. Would work pretty well with Modern Sonic's gameplay.

Sonic 06: Silver, but with more "It's no UUUUUUSE."

Sonic and the Secret Rings: Ifrit. Rock dat bitch's place.

Sonic Unleshed: Egg Dragoon, game handled it pretty well.

Sonic and the Black Knight: The Black Knight, of course. But sword free this time!

Sonic Colors: Nega Wisp Armor, of course, no other option.

Sonic Generations: Time Eater, but you know, good.

I know this would have been completely unrealistic, and I'm not trying to suggest that this is what should have been done or anything like that. Just my own little fantasy world.

This should have been the whole game:

Green Hill, Star Light

Chemical Plant, Oil Ocean

Wacky Workbench, Stardust Speedway

Hydrocity, Ice Cap

Lava Reef, Death Egg

Speed Highway, Lost World

City Escape, Crazy Gadget

Seaside Hill/Ocean Palace, Hang Castle/Mystic Mansion

Crisis City, Radical Train

Levitated Ruin, Night Palace

Rooftop Run, Jungle Joyride

Planet Wisp, Asteroid Coaster

What I would've done is this...

Green Hill Zone (S1) (TUTORIAL STAGE): Obviously GHZ is too iconic of a stage to leave out in this game. I would not make this apart of any of the eras (since GHZ has been seen in all of the eras unlike most of the stages in this game). This leaves an open slot for a Sonic 3 stage.

GENESIS ERA

Chemical Plant Zone (S2) - My favorite Sonic 2 stage. I thought they did a great job here.

*Honorable mention(s): ehhhhh, I was never too big about Sonic 2 outside of Chemical Plant

Ice Cap Zone (S3) - Sonic Generations lacked a snow stage, so why not use Ice Cap? I'd combine the best of the Ice Caps from S3 and SA with elements from Holaska from SU

*Honorable mention(s): Angel Island Zone. Again, I don't really mind what stage that they select from Sonic 3. I enjoyed them all outside of maybe Marble Garden Zone.

Angel Island Zone (S&K) - Now this is a toughie... While Angel Island I thought was an OK stage in S&K, I thought they did an absolutely PHENOMENAL job with Angel Island in this game. One of my favorite stages for sure. It's hard to let go of the stage after playing it in Sonic Generations.

*Honorable mention(s): Flying Battery Zone (though the airships are seen in Rooftop Run...), Lava Reef

DREAMCAST ERA

Lost World (SA1) - Speed Highway was one of my favorite Modern Sonic stages, but I think it can be sacrificed for a more unique stage like this. Lost World had a lot of interesting ideas, and seeing how much care they put into the stages in SG, I can only imagine how this stage could've been like

*Honorable mentions: Twinkle Park, Windy Valley, Speed Highway

City Escape (SA2) - To be blunt, this stage DEFINES Sonic Adventure 2 for me. Everything about this stage is iconic from the music to the snowboarding sequence to the G.U.N. Truck chasing you at the end of the stage. My only complaint is that the Modern take has waaayy too much 2D in it.

*Honorable mention(s): Metal Harbor, Pyramid Cave

Egg Fleet (SH) - Now they did a great job with Modern Sonic's stage (alt. paths ftw), but SSH is kindof redundant with Green Hill in there. With the lack of an Eggman stage I think this stage would've been great to see. Explosions and all that haha.

Honorable mention(s): Hang Castle, Frog Forest

MODERN ERA

I'd leave all the stages in the modern take the same, I thought they were all great choices.

*Honorable mention(s) (SNG): Kingdom Valley, Radical Train

*Honorable mention(s) (SU): Dragon Road(??? forgot the name), Jungle Joyride

*Honorable mention(s) (SC): Asteroid Coaster, that one underwater level (again, my memory fails me haha)

For the rivals, I'd keep all of them, but I'd change Silver's arena to Solleanna.

I'd keep the bosses the same too, except for Time Eater. I'm a lil too lazy to write down how I'd change though, cuz I think this boss needs a serious revision haha.

Other than a few levels i'm fine. I just wish they didn't used Crisis City for Silver. Considering how much 06 was kinda shunned in this game(From the intro of the stage not referencing it's original to no cutscene to make fun of it) The whole "lets just put this battle in Crisis City" thing kinda felt cheap and lazy considering EVERY OTHER RIVAL AND BOSS TOOK PLACE IN THEIR ORIGINAL AREAS. Yes the issue of Silvers battle being small battle arena is a issue but this game re-imagined thing to make things work. So they could have started out where you originally fought silver then run around the City and then into the Highway.

3:00.

From the highway you could run through the train area. Then the battle could have ended in the forest. That's my idea.

I would swap out Sky Sanctuary for Ice Cap

Why? Sky Sanctuary is a far more impressive looking level than Icecap, which is just a generic snow stage.

I was fine overall. But I probably would have chosen Lost World in place of Speed Highway, Casino Park in place of Seaside Hill, and Sweet Mountain in place of Planet Wisp.

I would've probably added a few minbosses at the end of each act. It just doesn't feel right to run through Green Hill and not fight the wrecking ball. :P

What I would change would be

Genesis

Oil Ocean (2): I like the overall look of Oil Ocean and I think it is a better representation of what Chemical Plant was going for

Ice Cap (3): Its pretty :P

Dreamcast

Hang Castle (Heroes): Aside from how frustrating it can be, its just more interesting a level

Modern

Night Palace (SatSR in place of 06): Again, its a very pretty level and has nice music

I would probably make it four games per era (would've made it 5, but there's no 5th game to possibly use for the DC era) and go with these stages:

Classic:

Sonic 1: Green Hill Zone - Iconic

Sonic 2: Chemical Plant - perhaps the most memorable stage of Sonic 2

Sonic 3: Hydrocity - the best of Sonic 3, as far as I'm concerned

Sonic and Knuckles: Sky Sanctuary

Dreamcast

Sonic Adventure: Lost World - I never really liked Speed Highway and Lost World was a fun (though sometimes frustrating) level to play.

Sonic Adventure 2: City Escape - Iconic epic stage

Sonic Heroes: Egg Fleet - Probably the best stage Heroes had to offer. Seaside Hill/Ocean Palace have had enough times in the spotlight.

Shadow the Hedgehog: Mad Matrix - Thought it was a fun stage.

Modern

Sonic 2006: Crisis City - No other choice for me.

Sonic and the Secret Rings: Dinosaur Jungle - DINOSAURS (cough) sorry. Was a beautiful stage I would've loved to see in HD

Sonic Unleashed: Dragon Road

Sonic Colours: Asteroid Coaster - was a very tight pick between this and Starlight Carnival admittedly. Was a very entertaining stage for me.

Does anyone actually know if SEGA is planning or hinted at making DLC levels for this game yet?? It would please a lot of fans if they do decide to go through with it.
