BoomBoomFP
Since the textures in Sonic Generations and Sonic 4 are almost the same, I thought Why not? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMcuFg2QQys Also, does anybody know how to add transparency (fading) and NOT upset the file size? ezodagrom
Since the iPad version used the same texture as the PC version for the green Orbinaut, I tried editing the red Orbinaut iPad texture, and this is the result: Which ones you guys think looks better for the Orbinauts, default PC textures (left) or iPad based textures (right)
Komodin
Hm, I think the iPad-based textures would suit them better. It makes them, especially the red ones, appear more sinister and threatening.
ezodagrom
My final modded texture pack: http://www.mediafire...bnaja8pnb2q6a8w EDIT: Made some really small modifications to Sonic and the green Orbinaut, new pack with the modifications: http://www.mediafire.com/?u3zk664sikqvfky Comparison pictures, first is the default texture, second is the modded texture: Sonic and Super Sonic (these are the same as the gamma edited textures I posted before): Moto Bug - http://i219.photobuc...d/MotoBug-2.jpg Chopper - http://i219.photobuc...d/Chopper-2.jpg Buzzer - http://i219.photobuc...od/Buzzer-2.jpg Newtron (this one is using the default PC texture, the iPad texture looks too bright) - http://i219.photobuc...d/Newtron-2.jpg Newtron Rocket form - http://i219.photobuc...ronRocket-2.jpg First Boss - http://i219.photobuc...od/Boss01-2.jpg Crawl - http://i219.photobuc...Mod/Crawl-2.jpg Batbot (like Newtron, this one is also using the default PC texture, since the lamp looks better than in the iPad texture) - http://i219.photobuc...od/Batbot-2.jpg Second Boss - http://i219.photobuc...od/Boss02-2.jpg Burrobot - http://i219.photobuc.../Burrobot-1.jpg Bubbles - http://i219.photobuc...d/Bubbles-2.jpg Orbinauts - http://i219.photobuc.../Orbinaut-1.jpg Jaws - http://i219.photobuc...0Mod/Jaws-1.jpg Third Boss - http://i219.photobuc...od/Boss03-1.jpg Shellcracker - http://i219.photobuc...llcracker-1.jpg Asteron - http://i219.photobuc...d/Asteron-1.jpg Slicer - http://i219.photobuc...od/Slicer-1.jpg Fourth Boss - http://i219.photobuc...od/Boss04-1.jpg Small Egg Capsules - http://i219.photobuc...gCapSmall-1.jpg Big Egg Capsule - http://i219.photobuc...EggCapBig-1.jpg Final Boss - http://i219.photobuc...FinalBoss-1.jpg Edited March 2, 2012 by ezodagrom
ezodagrom
Tried to find a way to unpack and repack a CSB file, but with no success, so I tried something else, tried to mess with the SND_FX.CSB file with an HEX editor, and surprisingly some parts were in clear text, and so I managed to switch the spin dash and rolling sound effects: http://www.mediafire...up3bnxq0jomgrpy Edited February 25, 2012 by ezodagrom
ezodagrom
A really small modification to the textures I've posted before for Sonic/Super Sonic and the green Orbinaut. I kinda felt like something was a little bit off about Sonic, but I didn't know what. Made a little modification to the eyes, the white part of the eyes is whiter/less grey now (the difference is really small). About the green Orbinaut, only changed the spikes: http://www.mediafire.com/?i1p8l08pse62ccr
Blue Blood
Nice work, as always. Do you think it would be possible to edit Sonic so that his muzzle/arms/tummy actually look that light tan colour they normally do instead of off-white?

Do you think it would be possible to edit Sonic so that his muzzle/arms/tummy actually look that light tan colour they normally do instead of off-white? Most of the changes I did to the iPad textures so far involved editing the whole texture or just square or circular shaped areas, to edit those parts of Sonic would need photoshop, which I never used and don't have installed. ezodagrom
If you give me the textures, I'll happily take a whack at adjusting it. In the texture itself that part doesn't look whiteish, it's because of the way the lighting works in the PC version that it looks whiteish, it's possible that making it darker wouldn't look well, but who knows though, it could work. Here's the texture (converted to png): http://img861.imageshack.us/img861/5113/chrsonicbody01dif.png

A Spray Can in Tokyo-to
Ah brilliant. He's no longer anaemic! It's pretty funny that even tho the iPad version took Sonic's gloss away, he was still grossly off-model.

He only looks so pale in the 360/PC version cause of how that specific versions lights him up. The model itself is the same as in Unleashed/Generations. ezodagrom
It's pretty funny that even tho the iPad version took Sonic's gloss away, he was still grossly off-model. Note that neither of those are using exactly the iPad version texture, they're based on the iPad version textures but they were further edited afterwards. In this picture, the first is the default PC texture, the second is the iPad texture with the PC version shading files, the third is the iPad version texture with the shading files replaced with empty files, and the fourth is the iPad texture with the gamma edited to 0.85. TheCongressman1
I guess everyone just kinda gave up. It's a shame, but I guess no one sees much point in modding this when the superior Sonic 4 is about to come out. Oh well.
Nintendoga
Honestly I'm just waiting for the PC mod in Ep.2 that lets Tails be playable.
goku262002
I guess everyone just kinda gave up. It's a shame, but I guess no one sees much point in modding this when the superior Sonic 4 is about to come out. Oh well. Read: If I am not mistaken there is no hacks yet because almost everything in the game is stored in AMB files - we can unpack them but currently there is no way to pack them back in. So, no physics hacks until we have proper AMB tool. All we can do now is to simply swap models and textures. So yeah no tools mean no hacks outside of texture swaps. This game is basically unhackable, Something I thought that would never happen. This community has surprised me over and over on what it could hack right down to Heroes almost impossible at the time hacking. To see people give up soo easy on what should have been a easy as hell sonic game to hack, just sucks to see that potentional gone... We'll see if anything changes once Episode 2 and Episode Metal release but if it doesn't I guess the topic can be closed.
Popular Post ezodagrom
I tried to make more things other than texture editing, but in the end I've gotten too lazy to do anything more. Plus I lack the knowledge to do much more than this. The last thing I tried was to remove boost pads, and I successfully removed the first boost pad from Splash Hill Act 1 though hex editing, but removing more would be way too troublesome, especially since randomly messing with this file can break parts of the stage. This is what I managed before giving up. Default: Edited:
ezodagrom
Wait a minute....you mean we actually have to use the spindash? I can't adjust to this! Unfortunately removing all boostpads would be way too troublesome, I have no idea where they are located, and which values they use, plus hex editing that file can cause certain parts of the stage to get broken, which would make it really hard to see if a boost pad was actually removed or not.
