I don't know about you, but this constant "Hey, everybody! Look at this stupid thing some guy on another forum said!" stuff is getting rather out of hand of late. I already found it pretty annoying when members made it a point to stalk give everyone the play by play of what certain people were doing on the Sega Forums, but this crap last night regarding "look how dumb this guy is, let's raid his forum and spend several hours making fun of him in the statuses trollolololol" seemed pretty ridiculous to me.


I think it makes our community look pathetic when the status updates are filled with nothing for several hours except how terrible and stupid some guy on a different forum is, how much fun it is that a bunch SSMB members joined his board explicitly to troll him and report back on their results, and how awesome it is that he isn't allowed to have an opinion just because it isn't informed. It also seems pretty contradictory to try to marginalize whatever he was saying by expending massive amounts of time and effort making his opinions known to everyone.







Now I admit that I don't know who this guy was, and making a status asking about it didn't give me a better clue (because it isn't as if there aren't SSMB members who act the same way), but seriously? Come on guys. Unless he ate a baby, what the hell was the point was besides making SSMB look like a collective of jackasses?

If you want to giggle like a retard because lolnicochi or lolmariotheplumber or lolchrischan or lolsegaforums or whatever the flavor of the week is, super duper cool beans for you. Do it on your own time. Doing it in public makes you look like an ass, and to not only publicly berate the person behind their back but to go on a crusade to their forum with the sole purpose of making fun of them to share your xD EPIC WIN back here? That's downright pathetic, and the people who took part in that should feel pathetic for considering that fun.

It was funny at first when CSS posted the status update but I know that he didn't mean for it to cause a riot. It started to get really annoying when status update after status update after status update is about Nicochi. People blew the whole thing way out of proportion and some even encouraged it to go on.

Well, it's not like we spammed or posted porn over there, we just debated with someone like we do on here. As far as I know, we did not break any of their rules. I see no reason to be guilty. As for treating it like an invasion...I just see it as a joke, as again, we did not spam, post porn or break any rules. That being said, it was over the top and it should not happen again. I just got caught up in the moment mang................

SSMB and TSS do not, in any way, shape or form, condone site raiding, and the last thing we want as a community, is be held liable for bullshit that goes down at other sites thanks to the actions of our own members. I'm not exactly aware of the details over what transpired with all of this horseshit forum raiding, but I will say that we won't stand for it.

Consider this a formal clarification and an announcement that we will not tolerate the asinine behaviors and actions taken by some members. Yes, this is abusing privileges given to you, and if something like this ever happens again, there will be consequences.

It's already bad enough that everybody flocked to another forum for the sole purpose of getting into a pissing contest with some internet nobody, but Nicochi of all people, who's proven time and time again that he's incapable of proper discussion.

It sure as shit wasn't funny, and it just painted us as jackasses. Anybody who actually thought it was a good idea should feel bad.

Seriously, that's all I was able to grasp out of this too. I had no idea what was going on, just that some argument was going on inside some other forum, apparently, and Nicochi was involved.

The statuses tend to go in a blink of an eye anyways. i didn't see a big deal about it since 2 minutes later it was onto something else.

All I have to say about the Nicochi debacle is that I fail to see the error in backing up a fellow member when they're in the right.

CSS didn't intend to cause a raid (I don't see how it's a raid since we didn't spam or do anything remotely 4channy) so don't impart any of the blame on him. It was more about helping a friend out than stirring a pot, however I can see the trouble this caused.

That being said, I won't participate in said activities any more.

"Hey guys! Guess what? Nicochi just got into an argument with me! Funny because I was not expecting him to come."
And then 40 replies result and then a lot of members proceeded as such.

I don't particularly care if a bunch of SSMB members want to go waste their time arguing with a wall to back up an SSMB member who is by all accounts perfectly capable of defending his own opinions. I don't need to constantly be reminded about how you are fighting the good fight by doing so.

It went on for hours, it spilled over into the SSMB facebook page and was still being brought up for most of today! The status' are still there and no doubt screencapped, but look at the time stamps and how long it went on for.

I feel the need to admit guilt to this one, it was a really dim idea to promote that kind of mindset, but I don't think any of us really thought to actually raid the site, at least in my cluttered little fantasy mind.

At any rate, I think we know to back off from this kind of behavior from now on.

It's not a matter of what you were doing, it's how you all did it.

You want to help a friend in a debate? All the more power to you. I don't see why you'd join a forum just for that, but go for it. When you have a whole wave of people following, it starts looking a bit suspicious, but if you all say you were civil, then I won't doubt you. Good for you.

The problem comes from how things were handled here. Do you typically go into a debate and then give back a play-by-play to your buddies about how you totally owned whoever you're debating with? No, you don't. You all did it because xD NICOCHI HAS STUPID OPINIONS LOL and it's pointless to try to deny that because that sort of shit permeates the statuses constantly. That's the problem. Go have a ball backing up your friend's argument, whatever. But when you turn around and make it into something like a sports event for everyone to watch and be entertained, it's retarded and tactless, and makes a fool out of everyone.

I recall poking fun at Nicochi in the status update, but I wouldn't actually sign up for an account over on that other site just to bash him. I thought most of the users that said that in the status update were joking, but it turns out that actually happened. Yeah, that's definitely not cool. Like others have said, it makes this site look bad, and is incredibly immature. That's behavior you'd find from 12-year-olds on DeviantART or, I dunno, Neopets forums or something (no idea why that came to mind...). Plus, why even bother "ganging up" on Nicochi. Obviously that guy isn't all there... and shoving your opinions down his throught won't make him turn around and agree with you. I'm not trying to defend the guy (I don't like him myself), but really, stuff like that isn't called for.

Same could be said about Sega Forums users. We know a lot of them are goofy... a lot of us have actually experienced them first-hand, so constantly updating about them in status updates is kind of beating a dead horse...

The examples you gave right there seem silly enough to me, and it really didn't get too bad either. No one here was insulting people there, and if anything their posts were more offensive than the posts made by the people who did participate.

And yeah, the statuses did get out of hand, so I can see the annoyance with that. But really, everyone seems to be making this bigger than it really was.
