Marvel Cinematic Multiverse | Official Thread For Movies and D+ Shows

Recommended Posts

This thread was created nearly 10 years ago for the release of Avengers, since then the MCU has grown so large. Discuss the continuing adventures of the heroes. Below is the original unedited post that started it all

Formerly "Marvel's The Avengers: General topic for assembling".

Now if there is one movie that will kick major ass this year, that would be an easy answer

Tooth Fairy 2

But another movie that will infact also be pretty fucking kool, THE AVENGERS. Excited as hell for this, huge Marvelfan here, and just getting to experience this assembly (you bet your sweet ass that's a pun) of heroes finally come together on the big screen is hella tight. it just helps that each and every one of the Marvel Studios brand movies has been utterly fantastic, add a Whedon and you have yourself motyay*. I swear, May 4th can't cum any faster, and neither can I STOP.

Oh yeah, check out this alternate jap trailer with even more kickass footage as well.

Been waiting for this movie for years and they set it up perfectly with all the individual movies and all the easter eggs that popped in them up until this point. I never thought I'd be looking forward to a movie more than the upcoming Batman film, but this one is it.

And, oh yeah... FUCKIN' HAWKEYE.

P.S. Here's hoping for a XBLA/PSN release of The Avengers: The Arcade Game to coincide with the movie release.

Yeah, I'm really hyped for this. I loved the Iorn Man movies, and Captain America as well. The only one that disappointed me was Thor, and I never saw the Hulk one. Can't wait for May 2nd to come!

I'm pretty excited about Avengers. There was so much build up towards this film and I really expect great things from it.

That said I'm surprised Loki took the main villain role. Makes you wonder why he's blowing up stuff on flying motorcycles.

I'm more curious who Loki's alien army is

Skrulls and Kree have already been deconfirmed, the theory of them being Atlanteans or maybe a race from one of Thor's realms seems likely.

HEY LISTEN

Do you want your bodies readied? YOU BETTER FUCKING READY YOUR BODIES.

check it, it's ASSEMBLE!, a NINE HOUR fanedit of ALL the Marvel films cut together in chronological order, put together through countless hours by a brotastic /co/mrade named Snake Charmer, needless to say, it kicks ass.

Crazy basterds will be streaming it on March 30th, I'll update with the link when the stream occurs

Thor intro > Captain America > Iron Man > Iron Man 2 = Thor = Hulk > Captain America Ending

Maybe it's just because I'm not really a fan of the series, but to me this looks like your run of the mill super hero movie. I don't really get the hype. I'll probably rent this, though.

What's this? 18 days till MOTHERFUCKING MOVIE OF THE YEAR?

ALL of the early screenings have been unanimously positive, being called Marvel's best production to date, fantastic action, fleshed out, well-written relationships, depth, humor and being kickass all around are what many of the reviews highlight.

suck it nolan.

Great to know, and it just reinforces the fact that the theatre will be stickied up the most by yours truly on may 4th.

oh yeah and there are a shitton of new trailers and clips out, but this clip in particular is radical.

Stark being a wiseass like usual, the WE HAVE A HULK scene, you know what it is. Whedon's awesome dialogue will make this movie honestly.

18 days already!? :o HYPEHYPEHYPE

I'm gonna do my best to avoid trailers though. Trailers then spoil and I don't want to spoil this movie. Its just too epic to not spoil.

I'm gonna see it tomorrow at 12:00 PM at the premiere in my country. Already got the ticket and everything, can't wait biggrin.png

I'll post my thoughts here after it. I hope this movie will finally give Joss Whedon the worldwide recognition he deserves.

Alright guys just got back from the movie. It was fantastic.biggrin.png The best pure action movie I've seen in a long freaking time. This is the movie that Michael Bay and Rolland Emmerich want to make and continously fail at it. The script was witty, The acting was awesome, the fanservice was great and the visuals/action scenes were amazing. A real love letter to Marvel fans from the ultimate Marvel fan Joss Whedon cool.png

So I'm going to bump this topic because what is possibly one of the greatest movies ever needs attention.

The movie had it's premiere today in Europe, and needless to say, it is absolutely astounding. I seriously can't stress that opinion enough either, it borderlines territories of being a masterpiece and is quite honestly poised to make a name for itself in movie history, not merely for being one of the biggest dares in production to ever face Hollywood, but for also succeeding with flying colors at it.

It's no secret that Joss Whedon had an unimaginable burden to carry with this movie. Not only was he nothing more than a cult director/writer (albeit undeniably one of the greatest in geek culture) with a very slim filmography, he also was tasked with carrying what was perhaps the most anticipated build up to a movie ever. Five fantastic movies. Five wonderfully defined characters. All which had plots that were essentially extended trailers for this very moment. But he hits it out of the park. This movie isn't about action (even setting aside that it has some of the best cinematography and perhaps the most brilliantly structured "final battle in the city" scenes ever), it's all about the characterization, just like every other movie before it. You'd think that a movie like this would suffer from the fact that all these superstar heroes would succumb under the wrath of having too many chefs in the kitchen, but since this is Joss Whedon directing and writing, that's not the case. You can't imagine a plot like this be written by anyone else but him. The ragtag bunch of misfits trope is played to the extreme here, and is quite possibly the best execution because for half of the movie, the real villains of the story are the Avengers themselves, and it works because every character sits on a spectrum being a platonic counterpart to each other.

The one character that impressed me the most? The Hulk. Ruffalo portrays Banner the most human he's ever been, with an incredibly engaging character ark by serving as the middle man who knows he can't have his say, but is the most critical of the entire group. The Hulk, as well, is an absolute beast. I didn't think he'd get enough spotlight when going by the trailers, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I'll say this just once - if you're on the fence, go see this movie. The movie has brilliant direction, even more brilliant writing. It's a testament to screenplay and cinematography as a whole, and I'd honestly call this one of, if not the greatest super hero movie ever made. Conflict, wit, despair, snark, humor, action, everything you want to find in a super hero movie is here. The Dark Knight may have been the benchmark for super hero movies, but I dare say this meets that benchmark while also setting a new standard for crossovers, and when you have to juggle with so many characters, that is a damn fantastic feat. It's as perfect as a movie of The Avengers can get.

Joss Whedon, I salute you. I never gush about movies anymore, and I was very worried considering this was one of the biggest contenders to being struck right in the ass by Murphy's Law. But thank god you proved me wrong. So wrong. Every movie I looked forward to in 2012 has effectively been thrown out of the scope of my interest.

Oh yeah, and;

Whedon's awesome dialogue will make this movie honestly.

This is very much true. You guys think you will be able to predict half of the lines, let alone events in this movie? Think again. Shit was off the wall with unpredictability. Audience cheering, laughing and clapping in the theater became an awesome experience.

I think I'm going to give that 9 hour cut of the movies a watch this weekend and possibly watch The Avengers in theaters. Normally I would have just rented it or bought it later but if it's as good as you guys are making it out to be (in addition to what pretty much everyone else is saying), it doesn't sound like one to miss.

Absolutely EPIC Movie. Ties in all the 5 movies nicely. Great characterisation and action sequences! And a nice little surprise at the endsmile.png A truly must see. It makes me wonder how Dark Knight Rises will compare.

Nothing of the sort was hinted, but that's cause much like The Amazing Spider-Man, the actual movie license is not property of Marvel Studios and their independent works which was created specifically to build every movie that would lead up to The Avengers.

That said, much like the other movies that preceded this one, you guys will definitely want to stay through the credits a bit. You won't have to wait until the very end this time around, but some of the more well-versed Marvel fans will certainly sound the hype train on this particular post-credits cutscene.

I just saw this yesterday and boy was I surprised to have no qualms afterwards. Whereas the five films before it have always felt lacking in some way or just shy of being 'great' to me, this one exceeded expectations. The dialogue and humour is brilliant, with my favourite performances going to Tom Hiddleston and Mark Ruffalo.

Indeed. It was nice not to have to sit through the entire credits before the inevitable extra scene but it almost went straight over my head lol, given my lack of familiarity with the comics.

Holy hell, it's that good?

I know it looks very good for a highly ambitious project, but it's that good?

You should see the Superherohype forums thread for reviews and ratings. Everything has been praised to high heaven. Even the people who don't care for the Avengers or never read any of the books have posted and praised it for it's strong characterization, action, dialogue and heart. People seem to be loving this film to death not just as a superhero film but as a film in general.

Reading the opinions is getting me hyped for the NA release! :D

Hell, I'm not even a huge Marvel fan, I just love the Marvel movies because they are great movies. Which is why it makes me even more hyped to see this after hearing all the good things about it!
