Holy shit guys. I had heard before that the show runners were catching some serious heat for this show, but I had thought it was just some dudes wishful thinking.

Apparently that's not the case.

My God, that first one is utterly retarded.

"Ultimate spider-man is horrible! This is not a spier-man show. Where's parker's money problem? where is the parker luck? where is spider-man learning from his uncle ben's last words? This show is a big "F**K YOU" to all of spiderman fans who were waiting for this show. and by the way, the spider-cycle SUX and makes no sense. Seriously worst spider-man show of the last 20 years. This show DOES NOT HAVE MARVEL DNA, IT HAS LOEB's SH!t-N-A."

The rest I can agree with a bit.

EDIT: Also, look at this ad that popped up when I clicked the link.

I had to stop watching after a few minutes, I can't stand this guy. I don't like the show much either, but he comes off as a complete fanboy. "The movie's sucked because he didn't have web shooters!!! Raaaage!" Dude, seriously? That's your main reason for not liking the movies? I also prefer the web shooters, but to say removing them ruins the character is just absurd.

Further, I can never take anyone seriously when they demand something they don't like is put to an end. People, have we learned nothing? No, it's not going to poison our youth. No, it probably won't forever alter the way kids view Spider-Man. Most importantly: it doesn't matter if different generations view a character in different ways. Hell, just look at the Sonic fanbase. There may be some heated discussions, but it hasn't exactly ruined the franchise, now has it?

Your not getting it. its not that this show will warp the minds of young children forever into thinking Spider-Man is allways like this, its just that this show is overall pretty bad and treats the audience like a bunch of fools.

Uhh...different strokes for different folks, I guess. I can't even begin to imagine liking Unlimited more than this. Hell, even as a 10 year old kid, I thought Unlimited was stupid. And believe me, I was easily impressed. At least Ultimate isn't flawed from a conceptual standpoint, I have no idea how Unlimited was even greenlit.

Wholeheartedly agreed. At least this show doesn't rely on a bunch of bland beast people to be main villains.

That's still no reason to demand it to be cancelled. It's not like anyone HAS to watch it and there are people who like it to some degree. (Myself being one of them.) It's a very love it or hate it kind of show and it definitely has some serious flaws, but there's always going to be someone who likes it, so why stomp all over the opinions of people who DO like it by demanding cancellation just because you personally don't like it?

I think he brings up some really valid points; he wasn't "raging" about the web-shooters at all, and even if he was, his reasoning was legitimate. It was an attempt at dumbing down he character and taking one of his signature traits away in favor of just giving him the ability to do what he does. Ultimate, as he said, does the exact same thing.

It's like they don't even care about the character at all.

A glorified commercial in which a character who's modus operundi has been solo work for years is used to advertise B-rank heroes isn't conceptually flawed?

I want it to be cancelled because I want something that's actually good. Something like this.

Yes, I'm still really fucking bitter about Marvel's insistence on butting into Sony's business and demanding the rights to make a show. They could have had the courtesy to wait for Sony to finish before starting to make their own shit (literally).

I want a show by people who actually like Spider-Man and don't view him as a means to sell Luke Cage action figures, and that's why I think this show needs to die and be forgotten.

I don't exactly disagree that this is a glorified commercial for Marvel's back catalog, after all I pretty much said so myself in one of my last posts. But at least this feels like a Marvel cartoon. At least there was a chance to drag some obscure and overlooked characters into the light and make them shine. Unlimited was just...weird. It didn't feel like Spider-Man, it didn't even really feel like Marvel. It was, at best, a last ditch effort to cash in on Spider-Man TAS's success. I mean...Spider-Man going into space, finding a "second Earth" inhabited by beast people? That feels more like a suitable premise for Green Lantern. Besides, sticking Spider-Man in a team has been done before countless times, in the comics and cartoons. As far as concepts go, this is playing it rather safe.

Believe me man, no one is more upset over the loss of Spectacular as I am (I'm currently on my third run-through for the series, actually). The fact that it got replaced by Ultimate is just salt on the wound. The fact that Ultimate technically has amazing talent behind it is even MORE salt. But, fact of the matter is that Ultimate *does* have fans. To demand something gets cancelled just because you personally don't like it is just selfish. I mean hell, we're on a Sonic forum. How many fucking times have we had to listen to people saying "SAWNIC SHOUUD JUST DIE ALREDY" Do we really want to be like those people? Do we want to deny the possibility of the show getting better? Do we want to deny the show's fans the chance to enjoy it? We put up with those people for years, and then Sonic Colors, Sonic Generations, and, yes people, Sonic 4 all happened. Between those three games, the franchise has regained quite a bit of respect. Who says the same can't happen for Ultimate Spider-Man?

Furthermore...we aren't really the target demographic for this show. I think the writers tried to appease us fanboys as well, buuuuut they kind of failed a little bit. Regardless, so long as kids love Ultimate and it keeps getting good ratings, then it's going to continue regardless if we like it or not. And no people, please don't respond to this with personal stories of how one or two kids you know don't like it. I'm not saying you're wrong, but that isn't exactly a fair and unbiased representation of all kids everywhere.

Exactly. It's completely and utterly unfair towards those with different opinions. Don't forget people, just because this thread is seething with hate, just because some very vocal and, honestly, rude fanboys are bombarding the creator's Facebook pages doesn't make us the majority opinion. If there's anything I've learned after spending 12 years on the internet, it's that you are always a few clicks away from getting your world turned upside down.

Besides, sticking Spider-Man in a team has been done before countless times, in the comics and cartoons. As far as concepts go, this is playing it rather safe.

The thing is that there is a reason why these characters are overlooked. Luke Cage was blaxploitation personified in comic form. He should be right up there with those old racist cartoons that Disney has locked deep in the basement just right behind the frozen body of Walt Disney. Even if they retooled Power Man and the other b-listers, you shouldn't market them alongside Spider-man unless you are changing the title of the series to the New Avengers which is what the series really is. Honestly, it isn't just that Spider-man is in a team. He is in a team with superheroes that he has rarely interacted with and said team is filled to the brim with pompous assholes and bland personalities. And if I accepted that Spider-man should be on a team, you could at least make them likeable. I want to punch Nova in the face. I think White Tiger is a snooty bitch. Iron Fist needs to lay off the weed. And Power Man needs to stop being so typical.

The reason why I say Unlimited is miles better than this is because at least it has a continuity. Sure, it was bland and out of place in the overall Spider-man mythos, but Ultimate Spider-man is just a shameless commercial cash-in on the franchise. They literal stuck Spider-man in the title and then did away with everything that the series is about.

Gentlemen I'd like to address one of the major issues with this show that hasn't been brought up yet, and that's the team's individual abilities. Notice how only two of them (Spider-man and Nova) have other offensive abilities other than just beating people down. In this show the majority of abilities are just that beating people down, and you have three characters that are basically just that.

This team isn't well rounded at all, I mean look let's look at some other superhero teams.

Teen Titans: Beast Boy can transform into any animal and use their natural abilities be it size shape or mass to help out and has been shown to be able to communicate with animals. Robin has the most experience, is a trained strategist, and adept at martial arts. Cyborg is a mechanical genius capable of building numerous gadgets to help support the team in the field, and has a multitude of weapons built into his body. Raven has knowledge and mastery of both magic and spiritualism. And Starfire is strong, can fire energy bolts, and can act as a translator for dang near every living person.

Avengers: Tony stark is a genius, has cash and many resources at his disposal, and has access to his walking weapons collections that is the Iron man armor's. Captain America has enhanced human physical abilities military experience, and is a master of hand to hand combat. Antman/Giant-man is can manipulate his size, has a genius intellect, and can control insects with his helmet, the Wasp like Antman can also manipulate her size but has access to wasp stingers (energy blast's). Black Panther like captain America is also a master of hand to hand combat, has access to vibranium and vibranium based weapons, is a adept strategist, and also has access to advanced technology from his homeland of Wakanda. Hawkeye is an expert archer, has access to special trick arrows, and has had acrobatic training. Hulk has superhuman strength, durability, and stamina, is resistant to most toxins, and has access to a healing factor. Thor has superhuman strength and agility, can manipulate the weather, wield lightning, and has vast knowledge of Asagardian magic. And new comer Ms. Marvel has superhuman strength, energy absorbing and manipulation abilities, military training, and high durability.

Forgot Young Justice there bro. :P

Anyways, todays episode wasn't soo bad. there was only two 4th wall breaks or barely any idiot jokes in the whole episode and no team either just spider-man and the hulk. now if the rest of the series could've been like this...

And just who was the villian today? hulk's name for him was "energy man" but then again he was calling spidey "bug man" so I don't think hulk remembers allot of official names.

Forgot Young Justice there bro.

I would've included it but now they've brought in new members that haven't yet displayed what they can do in the team. And that it seems like we'll be getting more members as the show progresses.

No it's just for sharing opinions and observations about the show. It just so happens several of us aren't all that happy about the show.

Pretty much, we don't have allot of postitive things to say about it. it is just generally bad altogether and the compliants are going to seep through, but I've seen allot worse from this very board.

This episode was a solid episode, spider-man once again displayed intelligence even acknowledging while scared he has to help people, the pacing felt better, and I thought the team-up was somewhat fun. Unfortunately this episode still suffers for lame jokes, and unnecessary usage of old cartoony sound effects in the most WTF spots.
I find myself agreeing with Goku262002 that if the episodes were more like Marvel Team-up this would be a salvageable and more entertaining show.

And just who was the villian today? hulk's name for him was "energy man" but then again he was calling spidey "bug man" so I don't think hulk remembers allot of official names.

Oh that's Zzzax, I remember seeing him in Earths Mightiest Heroes most notably in Gamma
world part 1. He's from the Hulks rogues gallery BTW.

Honestly this series is slowly becoming better. I mean it started off VERY ROUGH, but after the Hulk/Spidey team up. I have a little more faith in the show. Yeah Spidey was still acting VERY immature but when it came down to it, he showed he could be a hero.

Think I'll be skipping this episode since it's featuring the lame teen team and a version of Venom that isn't even mildly interesting.
