The rules this time around are just about the same as last time, save a few differences!
Main rule- You have to be a member of SSMB. There's no other place where we can discuss things better anyway, and I like to remain in constant contact with those involved. An exception to the rule can be granted to those doing collabs.
Music
1-No mash-ups, no MIDIs. To mash-uppers, I apologize if you've wanted to showcase a few neat mashes of Sonic tracks and others, but this is an album where music must be created. In other words, I won't accept something that's basically two pre-existing music files stuck together, sugarcoated, and called yours. Mash-ups only exist for Mash-Up Monday around here!
As for midis, which can end up being used from others, with or without permission, none of these are accepted. Any submissions of the sort will be rejected. If you're just starting out and you're using MIDIs, might want to consider beefing up your work.
2-Quality. Now by quality, I mean two things.
A-The quality of the sound. It doesn't matter if it's a direct recording from a computer or you playing it live, but if the sound quality is iffy, then... yeah. ^^;
B-Though not necessarily an obligation, it would be very preferable if submitted tracks were at a bit rate 320 kbps and sport a v2.3 ID3 tag. It would make the overall quality of the final product a whole lot better and it would save us the editing trouble.*
*If you have no idea as to what I'm talking about or any idea as to how to do so, ignore rule 2B for now as it isn't obligated or demanded from everyone.
3-Variety of the tracks. By variety, I don't mean the instrumentation. While one song from the Sonic series can be nice, it would stink if we had, for example, 6 remixes of A New Venture from different artists here. When you submit a remix, please be clear as to what the theme or the level(s) based upon it is. We will only accept at least 2 or 3 of each theme/level. If you wish to reserve a track, let me know.
4-Music Origins: While it is a Sonic forum making a music album, it would only be natural to have Sonic music... though other SEGA-based music will be accepted!
That's right, not just Sonic, but we'll be accepting anything from NiGHTS, Jet Set Radio, Billy Hatcher, Space Channel, Super Monkey Ball, Bayonetta, Yakuza, ChuChu Rocket, Shenmue, Binary Domain, Spiral Knights, House of the Dead, Samba de Amigo, even Bass Fishing if you wanna go there... anything and everything SEGA. Though let's keep it primarily Sonic as it is the main focus.
5-ORIGINAL SONGS ARE ACCEPTED. Got an original music track that sounds Sonic-y? Do share it!
This is always welcome! We had a couple of goodies last time, and we're always willing to accept more!
6-Pre-existing work can be submitted, so if you've got something already, send it in! However, we are looking for newer tracks, so do stick around!
7-It MUST be your own work! And by that, it basically means that if you stole the music from somebody else or want to submit work that ISN'T your own, you're not in and it won't be accepted. That's it. Should we discover that a submitted track is stolen property, it and all of your other tracks will be pulled from the album and you'll be banned from a future collab, along with having your album cover submission removed should you have done so.
8-COLLABS: Collaborative efforts between musicians are more than welcome! If you plan on doing any, sound off in the thread and I'll list you here!
Album Cover Art
1-Originals only. The cover must be original, so official artwork, even edited official art, is not allowed.
2-Theme. It's an album coming from The Sonic Stadium, so it's only natural that the cover must be themed as such! Want to draw up a specific scene from a game? Want to draw the forum members on board? Want to do something completely arbitrary? Anything is fine! The only main rule here is that it must include The Sonic Stadium Music Adventure 2012 - Act *blank*. When your album cover is chosen, you may fill in Act 1, Act 2, etc... depending on which one your art has been assigned to, then submit the final product.
3-It must be your own work. If stolen, it will be pulled along with all of your tracks if you've submitted any.
4-Collaborative stuffmuffins, of course, are welcome! See Sean and Carbo's album entry from last year.
And finally, to everybody aboard, be cool, be wild, be groovy, be creative! In other words, have fun!
