Right, BMN!

Also, Cola! That Rhythm Thief song! It sounds like a Sonic Shuffle song, right down to having the "Go!" sample from it! If you ever need that vocal sample, it's from oldskool Batman! =D "To the Batmobile, Let's go!" is the full line. I can give 'ya the file if needed. xD

FYI - Not that it's officially opened yet, but I'm more than happy to do Free Mastering should ur tune need that extra *umph* to sound amazing. </plug>

Wolfy can speak nicely of such things ^_^

I'll be the first to admit I haven't read the whole topic, but here's some things I'd suggest for 2012's project. Feel free to take all, some or none of it.

  • Might want to put a cap on tracks or length, as there is a point where an album gets too big.
  • I'd very much recommend everyone submitting their tracks in a lossless quality (e.g. FLAC) so the whole album can have the same encode quality when turned into MP3/AAC.
  • I'd also like to see a 2012 album release in 2012. Could e.g. target a December release, set a deadline for late October/early November, then you have leeway if necessary.
And for artists?
  • For people less sure they can produce enough quality tracks, focus on quality rather than filling your quota of tracks.
  • If you're unable to yourself, take advantage of people willing to do post-production. ...well, I don't mean take advantage, I mean take adv... you know what I mean Posted Image
  • Collabs are good (I saw this mentioned earlier but should be said definitely).
  • If you were involved last year, and you aren't already doing so, try something different this time - go in a different direction, remix the sort of song you normally wouldn't, take yourself out of your comfort zone. After all, we don't want TSSMA '12 to just be TSSMA '11 Part 2... Posted Image

Alright. xD It's a good idea you brought these points up then, and this early. I agree with ya on the whole thing.

As for the first point though, should we actually get way too big, who's up for the idea of splitting the album into two parts?

Yes, Speaking in terms of help, if anybody needs some, I am always up to helping out! I already helped somebody getting a certain sound they needed, so if ya need some, I will try to help the best I can! Posted Image

The way the first album was handled in that department was neat in my opinion. I think we should stick with that format, or however you guys see fit really. As long as a solution is brought upon (^_^)

I don't care how 'big' the album gets - As long as the tunes are in 320kbps MP3 or Uncompressed WAV/AIFF/FLAC and the ID3 data is filled out so that I don't have to do it all myself just to put it on my iPod and have it read the files correctly.

I started Chaos Angel yesterday. It is heavy. I also have a pretty big plan for a song that my newly-formed band might cover. It shall be... wordly.

Anyhow, dunno what else I could "metallicize" as the ol' Egghead would say it. Any ideas?

I'm really looking forward to hearing that Chaos Angel cover! Chaos Angel + metal sounds like an amazing combination.

As for suggestions for what else you could cover, maybe another song from the Sonic Advance series? Egg Rocket would be awesome. Or you could be like me with last year's album and go for an obscure Game Gear tune. :P

Also I forgot to mention, but it'd also be kool for cover artists to provide their work at a high res in PNG, and also if possible in their art app's native format (unless you don't want your stuff to potentially be edited). Some of the stuff that went into the minisite wouldn't have worked out if Flow Punk (I fix dis) hadn't sent me that PSD Posted Image

Would it be cool if I did another song too? I worked on a "Big Arms" remix earlier this year and never finished it. Re-found it today and did some tweaking to it. Also I dunno if it is too Midi-y for the project either. It's nothing compared to the epic Cash Cash remix from SG 3DS but it's something I liked working on. If I upload what I've done so far to SoundCloud for you guys to listen and see...

http://soundcloud.co...ed-big-arms-rmx

...there we go. It's unfinished because I haven't finished working on it yet.

Hope this post made sense...

I guess it's alright, though I wouldn't mind a little bit more of a personal touch on your part. Though it has a few differences, it sounds a bit too close as a cover.

On that note..

ATTENTION, SONGNICS

I'd like you all to take a quick breather.

While your enthusiasm is totally cool and seeing you guys shoot up song after song is cool, I'd like for you all to stop for a minute and take a look at the OP.

As you might have noticed now, I've changed Rule #3. Well, not so much as change as more of an update. Why is this?

Again, OP. Some of the songs you've all shot are more or less beginning to creep on each other's turf. We'd want to keep the album varied. We got off lucky with 3 Scrap Brain [8-bit] mixes last time, and I'm seeing that some of you guys are starting to shoot for the same songs! D: We can't have that!

That is why, for now, I'm shutting off song ideas for now until you guys shuffle things around a bit. I trust that you're all mature enough to keep things civil. xD

So basically half of the rules are gone and we have until November.

Alright then.

Well what I think is a lot of people are claiming tracks they won't even do or are taking on too many. That's why I've limited myself to just a few for the time being (two of my own, two collabs). I don't want to tread on anyone else and would rather name off something I know I'm already working towards rather than to name off a wishful list and deny others the opportunity to do that song.

Sandopolis was the only track there that I didn't think I'd end up doing in any capacity (but its a good collab idea anyway), but I've had plans since the first album wrapped to do the Eggman Sonic 4 theme (which is so atrocious nobody else would pick it anyway but me because I AM CRAZY) and Planet Wisp I'd mentioned wanting to do near the end of the last album anyway.

I know I posted like a list of like 10 songs, but really, if anyone of you are wanting to do those, go for it, XD! I'm really open to anything, those were just some I was thinking of. If one of you manage to do one of the ones I listed first, then good on ya, and honestly no beef over on my end, XD.

I do want to ask though, may we include songs in our songs that are already full? As in lets say we have 2-3 Rooftop Runs already, but in my, idk, Rank E cover (just an example LOL) I wanted to toss in a hint of Rooftop Run, would this be ok?
