Anyone else find it sickening that the "YES! BEHEAD THE LAMB!" option is at a 4:5 ratio with No? Did people really vote for yes? :/

The hell is wrong with people these days? Why would anyone ask people if you should decapitate a lamb or not? Why would you even want to decapitate a poor innocent animal in the first place? What the Hell!?

And why, WHY did anyone vote yes!? Are some people really that sick and twisted!?

Hmph, what matters to me that "nein" is getting the majority. Even if there are a large number of negatives, at least the positives outnumber it. Progress!

This project is very strange to me. It seems like a test of the internet's morality.

Isn't this a form of animal cruelty? Why isn't anyone stepping in?

I'm assuming this stunt is to boil down one of the flaws of democracy- that being putting inalienable rights up for the populous to vote on- into an easily digestible and aptly-horrific metaphor. I mean, it's obvious we shouldn't behead the sheep for no reason, isn't it? Most good-natured people would say no to this and are even horrified that it's up for vote in the first place. Now, apply this to something like, say, gay rights, and you will understand the point of this experiment.

(By the way, I went to the site and voted no. I suggest you all do the same if you care for the sheep's fate.)

Just another pair of trying-to-be-edgy attention-whoring twats. What else is new? What'd be much more worthwhile is a poll that asks if their necks should be placed under the guillotine. I'm pretty sure the world would be better-off without these two making an exhibition of slaughtering a defenceless animal for the hell of it.

Er... people eat sheep, so what grounds would there be to step in?

they did something similar to this on TV, where it was live gameshow where they took control of a random guy's life, and the audience wore masks to hide their identities, they had a remote with 2 buttons, one with yes one with no, the presenter gave them choices, hilarious at first like, funny things, then gradually as the audience was ruining this poor bloke's day, they went into things like... invading his home without him knowing, breaking his personal belongings, and in the very end, they had the choice to give him £10,000 or for him to be kidnapped by thugs in a van... they chose the van option, and in secret the presenter had an actor take his place, run for his life from the thugs and he was run over at the end of the street (completely staged, but the audience didn't know that) the presenter then played along and acted concerned for the well being of this guy, and tells the cameras to stop rolling, the cameras pretend to, but keep rolling on the audience as they remove their masks

he then tells them they where part of a morality project about human nature and their desire for power etc. he then says that you had the choice to make this guy's night, the best he ever had, yet you'd rather see him suffer.

it was really clever, of course the guy got a new TV/Xbox and £10,000 with a letter explaining everything that happened to him was part of a scientific experiment.

so yeah, its amazing what people will do because the others go with the flow of the rest.

it was really, really good

i only caught it half way through but his entire night was staged by actors

things like in a bar, this girl accuses him of slapping her ass, the audience could choose for her to kiss him, or throw her drink in his face.

then they could choose for her boyfriend to apologize and buy him a beer, or go over and threaten to beat him up, he was then removed by bouncers

his friend goes into a store with him, and loads his bag with stolen items... a can of soup, some sweets and panty liners, he then says he'll brb and to hold onto his bag, the store owner is an actor, and tells him to empty HIS bag and proceeds to mock him and embarrass him in the store, the audience then could choose to let him off with a warning, or to bring the cops in

they choose cops, and whilst he's in the back of the van, the friend that left him is in the guys house and raids his drawers and stuff, one member of the audience tells him to break his plasma tv, before more and more people egg him on, he breaks the TV and his Xbox

and then the cops drop him off with a warning, and then the Van option comes up

it was really scary seeing it played out, when you seen him get run over, the should of seen the audience, they where horrified and when they thought the cameras weren't rolling, they revealed their identities

was good stuff.

Isn't videotaping the death of a an animal by unorthodox means, for entertainment or study purposes, cruelty? I mean it would vary by country but they aren't killing it for food, or any other reason besides to prove that they can.

Not in the slightest, and I'd be willing to put money down that death by guillotine is almost certainly more humane than whatever way is usually used to harvest sheep for meat.

I mean it would vary by country but they aren't killing it for food, or any other reason besides to prove that they can.

You see, this is exactly why I don't give a shit about the sheep.

They aren't doing it just to "prove that they can," and it kind of scares me that the only person in this thread so far who seems to have gotten that is Nepenthe.
They are doing it as part of a study on the role of Direct Democracy in modern Western Society (think Prop 8), and I'm worried far more about the implications of what it means if the people as a whole who are voting do choose to kill the sheep for the lulz than I am about the fact that the end result of this test may be that one animal that belongs to a species of which probably tens of thousands are killed a day will die (which, BTW, it won't because they almost certainly won't go through with it regardless).

If (and only if) this sheep is going to be eaten afterwards and doesn't actually feel excess pain from being beheaded (isn't instant decapitation the most humane way to kill an animal anyway?), I don't really see what the big issue is.

As Nepenthe has pointed out earlier, it's very clear to me that this is something more along the lines of a political metaphor or psychological study than a dumb publicity stunt. I don't think they would have gone to the trouble of doing all this if all they wanted to do was kill a sheep for no reason. I think the bigger issue here is that people are actually voting "yes"; that's far more inhumane than anything I'm seeing these guys do.

As long as the sheep is put to use after the beheading (if it happens that is), such as being eaten, I honestly don't care too much. The animal isn't even aware of what fate it could possibly face, so it's not like it's living its life right now in fear every second before that day comes.

Concern for the lamb reminds me of the Save Toby website.

It looks like the website is not really active, but basically a bunny was ransomed to the internet (with pictures) for $50K through Paypal. If the ransom wasn't paid the bunny would be eaten according to the recipes on the site.

I don't know why you'd vote yes. But lambs are killed every day for meat. I would eat the lamb. It's probably pretty expensive to keep. Might as well get a meal right? Seems like a good way to celebrate your experiment's end.
