I don't know what to think? I mean I hope he is going to add more lifeboats and maybe GPS and an Iceberg Detector 3000.

Its being built by the Chinese by the way those guys are pros when comes to knock offs. Posted Image

On the one hand I am think that will be fascinating to look at on the other I don't know if it good taste to do so, sounds like a tacky tourist trap (AKA HMS Blackpool).

Oh well as long as it doesn't have a raping dog onboard:

What do you guys think?Posted Image

I suppose a raping dog would be a bit of a problem if he were let loose on a ship. Posted Image

I don't see a point in recreating the Titanic, let it rest.

If the construction of the ship is sound and without corner cutting, and the new technology is up to the job, I see no reason why this shouldn't be the greatest liner ever to grace the ocean waves.

How long is this dead horse going to be kept beaten? One cannot help but feel that such a large amount of money could be used for better purposes.

Also, tribute to the men and women who built the Titanic? Maybe that would be so if it were built in Northern Island in the original shipyard (If it still exists that is) and not China.

I personally think its tacky from the way he describes it sounds its going be a tourist trap. Also does that mean that third class will be third class 1912 style? Posted Image

Verte: I know, trust China to make a knock off of the Titanic, they only have already made knock off Apple products and cars.

It's going to be a tourist honey pot, and that's the whole point. Will it be tacky though? Could be, but then again maybe not, we'll have to see.

Mr Palmer said the ship's funnels, which with modern propulsion would be purely decorative, and would be used to house a restaurant, a theatre and an "internet room".

So much for pure replication. Posted Image

Yeah call it Titanic II, very tasteful basically its a Cruise Ship that looks like the Titanic. Posted Image

Where exactly did they say it'd be a 100% faithful replica? They're saying it'll be a replica with modern technology. It's going to be, by all accounts, a modern day equivalent and homage to the Titanic, with the best technology etc the modern world can offer, just as the Titanic offered the best stuff its world could offer, while trying to be faithful in most other respects.

Then its not really a replica, its just a Cruise ship that looks like the Titanic. I am the only one here who finds it in Bad Taste?

Reminds me of that quote that Ian Malcolm says in Jurassic Park:

Would it be fair to dismiss the ship's quality just because it's being built on Chinese soil, especially since the thing isn't even close to finished yet? I can see being angry that this isn't being made in the UK, but that aside, I'm sure that quite a lot of coin will be used towards this, so we can at least expect the final product to be more presentable than the average Chinatown Optimus Prime bootie.

Also, more cruise ships need to make rapist dogs a standard.

I very excited about this. I've been obsessed with the Titanic for like, fifteen years.

And for the record, the Chinese build pretty much everything we use. Who gives a shit who made it?
