But the Wii feels more like the right platform for Sonic. It's where franchises like his flourish, so with the upcoming generation I expect there to be quite a lot of Sonic-focus on the Wii U. It will be nice to see Sonic on Nintendo platforms being just as high quality as the rest. I don't think some sort of Nintendo exclusivity would bode poorly for the franchise either really.

I'm not particularly bound to a console, nor am I bound by preconceptions with regards to where Sonic "belongs". If the games are good enough, he can belong on any platform.

Poor optmisation for the very different hardware. Can lead to framerate problems sometimes.always wondered why the xbox version scores higher than the PS3 version on reviews.

I interpret what you're saying as: the xbox is the lead development platform and the PS3 is a port of that. I am a ps3 owner and there were noticeable framerate issues in Unleashed HD, especially Adabat day, and some minor frame skips in Generations Modern levels. I'm guessing that the games run smoother on 360.

Apart from ASR (which wasn't a Sonic Team game), all PS3/360 Sonic titles have been developed primarily for the 360. It's the most optimised for that platform. The difference are incredibly minor, but the 360 versions tend to be the better ones. In the case of Unleashed, the colours are brigther on 360 and the shadows simply look a lot better. That's about it though. There's nothing enough to warrant different review scores there. The only reason they'll score slightly differently is cause some reviewers will only look at one version.always wondered why the xbox version scores higher than the PS3 version on reviews.

Well Blue Blood, not necessarily. Sonic Unleashed PS3 for example was noted for awful screen tearing and jumpy frame rate, along with the issues you listed
I dunno. I have Unleashed on PS3 and I thought it looked and worked well. Certainly better looking that the Wii version. The only problem I have with the PS3 is the horrendous load times. When I play Generations on PC (which is a frigging masterpiece, to be said), then go and boot it up on the PS3, the wait is excruciating in comparison.
Does the 360 have shorter load times? If so, then maybe it'd be slightly better. But only slightly.

I cant comment on the screen tearing, but concerning framerate that was plain weird. They capped the 360 version at 30fps, and let the PS3 one run wild at 60fps. So when it was able to reach 60, which was only very rarely, it looked a lot better. The fact it wasn't capped at 30 though meant it jumped around a lot more. Why they didnt cap it is beyond me.Well Blue Blood, not necessarily. Sonic Unleashed PS3 for example was noted for awful screen tearing and jumpy frame rate, along with the issues you listed

360 Sonic tends to be the worse seller in comparison to the others, most likely because there is little to no interest (and therefore market) in platformers on that console.
If that is true (Please back that up with some evidence), Why is ST and SEGA allways building Sonic games with the 360 in mind (Unless they are exceptions like Colors)? and how come is it that usually all modern sonic PC ports are of the 360 version?
Seems pretty strange for Sonic Team to be stearing towards a console that they don't sell well in...

Yeah I dunno if they're the lowest sellers on 360 either, and I don't really care to look, but the reason why the Sonic games are being built with the 360 in mind is that its the easiest platform to program for. It's also easiest to port between the 360's platform and the PC platform. The PS3 has a different architecture on the inside which is why for the most part games built on a 360/PC lead platform first have a bit of difficulty being ported over to the PS3. Of course I'd argue that by now that -really- shouldn't be an issue if you are a competent developer since the PS3 has been out for years now, but it still happens.
So I'd say Sonic Team steers towards the 360 first mainly due to the ease of it all. At the end of the day they're still releasing it on both 360/PS3 so that'd be why they tend to do it, or that's my guess anyway.
Personally I prefer my Sonic games on the 360 because I love the controller and the system in general more, and in general I prefer Sonic on the HD consoles. The Wii as a console itself doesn't do a damn thing for me, so other than the one time I borrowed Colours and Muramasa along with my friends Wii, I don't really care for any of the other Sonic games on the system at all.

The only reason honestly that I bought an Xbox 360 was because of Sonic Generations. There was no way I was missing out on that one due to it not being out on the Wii or my computer not being capable to play it on...otherwise I am perfectly content playing my Sonic games on the Wii. I'm not used to the 360 controller yet (I don't play much these days), but once I do get used to it I'm sure I will enjoy playing on the Xbox 360 a lot more and it will eventually be my preference.

I do prefer the 360/PS3 Sonic games over the Wii Sonic games though. The Wii Sonic games are all mediocre.
