Ideal Sonic Generations 3DS Experience

Early on, there was loads of talk about how this game would be the Game Gear to the console version's Genesis, a look back on Sonic's smaller, but still important, adventures. Of course, Iizuka slapped us across the face pretty early and said no Game Gear.
Given the chance, what would you have made this game into? I've set up a little list of levels and bosses, but I don't know much about Sonic's earlier GG adventures, so bear with me. Also, this is based on the Generations (HD) setup, so, while bosses for every stage would be GREAT, that's not how this list is set up.
Game Gear (Classic) Era
Stage 1: Bridge Zone, Sonic the Hedgehog (GG)
Stage 2: Aqua Planet Zone, Sonic Chaos (Sonic and Tails) (GG)
Stage 3: Sunset Park Zone, Sonic Triple Trouble (GG)
Rival 1: Knuckles the Echidna or Fang the Sniper
Boss 1: I...uh...don't really know any significant bosses from this era. Sorry.
Advance Era
Stage 4: Ice Mountain Zone, Sonic Advance (GBA)
Stage 5: Music Plant Zone, Sonic Advance 2 (GBA)
Stage 6: Cyber Track Zone, Sonic Advance 3 (GBA)
Rival 2: Emerl the Robot
Boss 2: The XX Zone (You'd fight all of the bosses here, but each would only take two hits to kill and be significantly easier)
Modern (DS) Era
Stage 7: Huge Crisis Zone, Sonic Rush (DS)
Stage 8: Sky Babylon Zone, Sonic Rush Adventure (DS)
Stage 9: Sweet Mountain, Sonic Colors (DS)
Rival 3: Blaze the Cat
Boss 3: Bomber Barbara
Any input on the stages or rivals/bosses I chose are fine, but the real point of this thread is to know what YOU would've wanted out of the Sonic Generations 3DS experience, since it was clearly not up to par with its console counterpart.

And yes, not having Blaze as a rival in Gens 3DS was by far one of the biggest disappointments I've ever seen in a Sonic game. I'm guessing this was because of Sonic Team wanting to match up, but I think it is pretty obvious who was meant to be there.

As for the other Eras, I'd only change Cyber Track for Route 99 (MOAR CHITY LEVULS?) and Sweet Mountain for Asteroid Coaster

On a side note I enjoyed JENARAYSHUNS more than Sonic 4.

Speaking of which, I'm pretty sure those special stages ran on the Rush engine...
For levels, I'd pull GHZ from the console version and have all the other levels be completely original. If they couldn't pull the levels? Just base their own version off it.
As for the Middle Era, I would've liked to see Egg Rocket, Hot Crater/Music Plant/Ice Paradise, and Chaos Angel, with Emerl as a rival.
Modern Era would tickle my fancy if it had Water Palace (wahey that's in the game),Blizzard Peaks/Sky Babylon/Haunted Ship, and Aquarium Park. Rival would be Blaze, Boss would be the Egg Wizard.
Oh, and the Classic Era boss would have to be the one from Sunset Park act3.
That's what I would've liked, personally. It seems like Dimps tried to play it safe with Gens 3DS, but that ended up making a subpar game.
Oh yeah, and I don't think a console styled hub would've beed that hard, either.

Classic
Zone1: Green Hill Zone (MD)
Zone2: Sunset Park Zone (with boss in Modern version!!)
Zone3: Lava Reef Zone (this is my bias)
Rival: Knuckles
Boss: Big Arm - don't lie this was the shit (or the huge death egg robot from S&K would make a good contrast to hd version)
Advance:
Zone4: Angel Island Advance (this is another bias)
Zone5: Music Plant Zone
Zone6: Chaos Angel
Rival: Emerl (I like this idea)
Boss: Moon Zone boss maybe??
Modern:
Zone7: Dead Line Zone
Zone8: Sky Babylon Zone
Zone9: Asteroid Coaster (fuck ya you know this would make a wonderful final zone)
Rival: Blaze
Boss: I'd love to see Deep Core work otherwise NegaWisp Armor works too.
EDIT: Also yes my list is basically ear orgasms you're welcome.

As some might remember I did once make an extravagant 15-stage and 15-boss dream list for both versions, but since the 3DS version dream list was meant to compliment the HD version dream list, I won't post that here now (for the record, after the Mega Drive games it focused entirely on handhelds, and also included a stage from Sonic 2 8-bit and Sonic Triple Trouble).
So instead, I'll do a realistic wishlist based off what the final result was:
Stage 1 - Green Hill
Stage 2 - Casino Night
Stage 3 - Ice Cap or Hydrocity
Rival - Metal Sonic: However I'd reskin Casino Night to look more like Stardust Speedway Good Future. For budget's sake, no need to remodel, just retexture.
Boss - Big Arm
Stage 4 - Emerald Coast
Stage 5 - Radical Highway
Rival - Shadow: But reskin Emerald Coast to look like Green Forest.
Boss - Biolizard
Stage 6 - Water Palace
Stage 7 - Starlight Carnival
Rival - Blaze: But reskin Starlight Carnival to look like Dead Line.
Boss - Egg Emperor
Boss - Time Eater
I think just a few tweaks like this could have made a world of difference to the overall vibe from the game.

Green Hill (Green Hill is pretty much the definitive Sonic stage. Starting any version of Generations without it would feel strange.)
??? (I'd like Generations to be a celebration of Sonic's handheld history...unfortunately, I can't think of that many GameGear games with good/recognizable levels)
Sunset Park
Cosmic Angel
Ice Paradise
Route 99
Water Palace (Yay! Something SEGA/Dimps got right!)
Coral Cave
??? (Final zone presents another dilemma since that's all of the main handheld games other than Sonic Colors, and Colors really doesn't present a lot of good final zone opportunities. Planet Wisp was the console version. Tropical Resort, Sweet Mountain, and Aquarium Park are all terrible choices for a final zone. Starlight Carnival could work but part of its charm is how bright it is. Adapting it to be a final level would kind of ruin the stage. Basically that leaves Asteroid Coaster which, at least in my opinion, isn't a particularly memorable stage.)

That said I liked the levels that are currently present in the game. But I will form two types of list. One will be my list of the current game format, i.e 7 levels, the other will be the 9 levels that this post suggests.
3DS - 7 Levels
Classic era:
Green Hill ( what else would you expect)
Casino Night
Mushroom Hill
Rival: Metal Sonic @ Stardust Speedway
Era Boss : Big Arm
As you can see I left everything the same here other than the rival race. I would change the rival race to a fight though. The reason I left it as it is is that these are memorable levels (Mushroom Hill is my biased opinion though).
Adventure
Emerald Coast
Route 99
Rival: Shadow @ Radical Highway
Boss: Biolizard
Hear me out on this one. If we are going by the current standard for both version the bosses were :Robot, Monster, Robot. and none of the handhelds had a monster as a boss so I could see the exclusion of the handhelds for this. But in my ideal game I would want a handheld stage like Route 99 to connect to the Rival fight at Radical Highway then have the Biolizard fight
Modern:
Water Palace
Tropical Resort
Rival: Silver @ Tropical Resort
Boss: Final boss of Sonic Rush Adventure
Water Palace was a fine choice so I would keep it here. Tropical Resort is a great level so if they could increase the difficulty like at the end of Act 2 with the meteor only that the whole Act 2 have the meteor hazard.
I left Silver were he was cuz it's just difficult to place him somewhere or even at TR for that matter. And I know that the final boss for Rush adventure was over lava, but if Perfect Chaos was changed to fit modern sonic then the same could happen here. Plus it would give Rush adventures a rep.
3DS - Nine Levels
Green Hill zone
Casino Night zone
Mushroom Hill
Sunset Park
Rival: Metal Sonic @ Stardust speedway
Boss: Big Arm
I don't really know any of the game gear games so I just went with just adding Sunset Park since people here seem to like it.
Advance Era:
Ice Mountain
??? ( does Sonic Advance 2 have that stage that takes place under water if it does then it goes here)
Route 99
Rival: Emeral
Boss: The Boss at Altar Emerald
DS:
Mirage Road ( sand stage was needed)
Plant Kingdom
Tropical resort
Rival: Blaze @ Dead Line
Boss: Egg Emperor ( just to troll)

Wolfy Park Act 1: We don't make topics that are just lists
Wolfy Park Act 2: They hardly have any discussion value
Boss: While I agree the 3DS set up was kinda lame, we could go for days listing ideas what it could have been
Sean Factory Act 1: So since this is a list topic, I'm gonna have to force this into a locking position and
Sean Factory Act 2: Politely ask everyone to not make these.
Boss: Locked.
There's no DLC either
