Hey guys! I'm back here at this forum since last month! Posted Image

So last year, my dad went to Singapore for his business trip. There he bought two Sonic t-shirts (which can be seen in a photo below) as a Christmas gift to me. I received them from my parents on Christmas Day.

(Apologies for my blurry photo above.)

I'm not sure whether these Sonic t-shirts from Singapore are bootlegs or officially licensed by Sega. Posted Image
In my opinion, most officially licensed Sonic t-shirts and accessories are harder to find in Singapore and other Asian countries. If anyone suspect that the above-mentioned Sonic t-shirts would appear to be bootlegs, I would probably sell them.

They aren't liscenced. Trust me, I am from Singapore. It would be much better if it was a liscenced one.

I trust you, Faseehudeen. That means I'm not wearing two unlicensed Sonic t-shirts anymore! Posted Image

Never got why people had distaste for wearing something that isn't official. If anything I like wearing something everyone DOESN'T have.

I agree with Wolfy. A lot of times, I prefer wearing "parody" shirts done by different artists. Like this one, for example!

Love it. :P

A lot of the time, they feel cheap and poorly made. Just look at the shirts. I know the camera shot is bad, but you can easily tell that the art used is low quality.

Anything knock-off is usually cheaper, but there is a reason why. Cheaper materials, shoddy quality, poor build, etc. There ARE some products that are better, but these are rare,

It usually depends on whether it's knock-off or simply 'not official'. There's a difference.

I bought bootleg Tintin shirts when I was in Thailand and the fabric was thin as hell. Also, to them, a size medium is Extra Small. Still, they were only $2 each.

Even though they're not official, I still wouldn't sell them. That's fair enough if you don't want to wear them I guess, but they were a family present D: I wouldn't want to sell that, the T-shirt on the left even looks personalised between your Dad and you?

I don't understand how people buy bootleg things and not even know it. Its pretty easy to tell.

I would actually wear that shirt. Where can I get one of those?

Erm... well... actually.... *holds up his bootleg CD's*

Sometimes a bootleg can look so good, or bad as the case maybe, that you can't tell the difference. A great example of official merch that looks fake would be those Sonic X plushies, the sega prize europe ones. Another example would be the Sega World Sydney plushies, especially the mini tails ones.

Yesterday we had these...

They're official, yet I've seen bad fakes that look better.

CD's are notoriously hard to tell unless you know exactly what to look for, even the Sonic Adventure 2 grail has been bootlegged, and that was very hard to tell until T-bird compared it to his own.

And then theres things like this.

Posted Image

Is it fake? Pretty safe to say it is... due to the fact he's holding a gun... but... I have always had a nagging thought in my mind, this one was so well made, why are there not more out there? I've never seen a second one for sale, but it's such a 'cool looking' design, even for a bootleg, surely if someone went to the time to make this one, they would have made others to flog?

the only ways to tell if a CD is bootleg'd or not is to check the Catalog number on the side of the CD case, or already have knowledge of which companies to avoid, in Sonic music's case, MIYA RECORDS and EVERANIME are notorious bootleggers for CD's of the SA & SA2 Era, also the True Blue CD and Planetary Pieces.

another indicator for bootlegs is they lag the "LICENSED BY SEGA/SEGA" logo/brand on them, and when you look on the back they even include "R-CD ROM" which most official CD's do not have and this is the bootleggers fault for using standard CD jewel cases branded by CD-ROM rather than Wavemasters (current Sonic CD licensor)

also as T stated in his video, Bootleg's tend to look prettier compared to the actual legit product, art on CD's was a rarity back in the SA/SA2 days, where as bootlegs have very pretty printed CD's of the characters, while the official release was just the disc, with the SA2 logo on it in black and white, and the name of the soundtrack in standard font.

so it can be really hard to tell between bootlegs and officials sometimes if you don't know what you're looking for.

Amy actually looks nice, IMO. These appear to be amusement prizes, do you have any more info on them? Kellytoy doesn't seem to have the license for amusement plush here in the USA anymore, so perhaps these are the next wave by a new company?
