Rivalries you'd like to see other than the known ones?

How about Shadow vs. Knuckles? If you thought Knuckles couldn't stand Sonic's cockiness and boasting, Shadow would be in another league. I'd like to see this fight, and we got a little taste of the two in Sonic Free Riders where Knuckles gets mad at Shadow calling him and his friends pathetic.
And then I'd like to see Metal Sonic vs. Silver.
Future Hero vs. Evil Robot villain. It would be epic.
What about you guys?

Though, I have to admit, one I would like to see would be Professor Pickle vs. Pele the Beloved Dog.

Tails and Eggman.
Ahh yes, where did that go?

Other than that, I just think there needs to be more character interaction in general, whether it be rivalry or friendship. With such a diverse cast of characters, it would be very beneficial to development if they mixed and matched 'em up to experiment with the different personalities. We all know how Sonic and Tails get along. Same with Knuckles and Rouge, the Chaotix trio, etc. But what about Knuckles and Silver? How would they interact? Shadow and Tails? Espio and Rouge? Just exploring ideas like these could lead to some interesting character development, which would in turn make the stories that much more enjoyable.

The series is lacking in so much character interaction, its not even funny. Over 20 damn characters, and half of them haven't spoken even a sentence to each other, its appalling. I mean games like Free Riders and Colors DS are the exceptions, but really there should just be more interactions in general.
I'd like to see more of Metal Sonic & Sonic honestly, Metal's desire of killing Sonic just always struck me as one of the more interesting rivalries around, basically a fight between who's the "real" Sonic.

How friggin' awesome would it be to see the deadly likes of Metal Sonic or Shadow take on Tails, expecting an easy feat, only to find out that deep inside of him, Tails is actually pretty strong! He's taken down Eggman on his own before, so I would assume he could hold his own against other deadlier rivals. They even touched on this idea in Sonic X:
Though it was more of Tails' wit that saved him... I'd still like to see more of this.

Espio and Rouge?
That was such a disappointment in Sonic Rivals 2. They didn't develop at all!

Idealism vs. Cynicism, it'd be more unique than the generic shonen rivalry people see with Sonic & Shadow at least.

Isn't "idealism vs cynicism" the core of the typical shonen rivalry?
I thought it was the whole "Goku vs. Vegeta" thing?

Take every recurring character, preferably all the ones who were present in Sonic Generations, write all of their names on a slip of paper and put them in a hat or a bowl or something to contain them. Then put a lid on the container and shake. Then draw two names out of the hat, and which ever two names you draw, you make a rivalry out of it.
Because honestly, they haven't made any rivalry aside from Sonic/Knuckles, Sonic/Shadow, Sonic/Metal Sonic, Tails/Eggman, Knuckles/Rouge and anything else that was made prominent.
But the one that I would support more than anything would be Shadow vs. Knuckles simply because I want to see them fuck up the entire landscape in their fight.

Speaking of.
Remember Sonic's birthday party? Where all of Sonic's friends got together?
And how it was the perfect time to have characters interact with those that they never interact with?
And how they even had a common subject they could have used to break the ice with? (Sonic; how the met him, their opinions of him, memories gone by, etc.)
And how the writers couldn't fucking think of anything for them to say so they just had their mouths move while performing half assed gestures to simulate conversation?
That... really annoyed the fuck out of me.

...
Scraping the barrel.
Edit: Oh wait, that was just the grouping in the final battle, she wasn't with Silver and Blaze in the afterparty.
Right...

And is that not, to a certain extent, an idealist vs cynic?I thought it was the whole "Goku vs. Vegeta" thing?
Given that it was just a short intro, I can't really blame them for not putting any serious conversation in there. And how the writers couldn't fucking think of anything for them to say so they just had their mouths move while performing half assed gestures to simulate conversation?

Ya know, they should just do that for the next game in general; Decide how many characters are going to be in a game, throw in everyone not named Sonic or Eggman into a hat, and whoever comes out will be in the game.

Or how about when Sonic saves any of them, except Tails of course, he couldn't be bothered to respond to any of their words with nothing more than a gesture, and ignore them for the remainder of the game? Yeah, that pissed me off too.
And is that not, to a certain extent, an idealist vs cynic
I always thought the entire thing was based on "Rawr, Kakarot I want to beat you" "Lol ok" rather than idealism vs. Cynicism.

If they were allow to make a larger story, and they still did that, then I can't say anymore about that.
