SSMB's virus alert thread. Report strange virus errors here.

Not sure if any could give me an answer for this (or if this is the right topic for it), but, when I tried logging in yesterday and today, it wouldn't let me. Nobody else shares my laptop so I have it record my username and password whenever I start to type in on the Log-In screen. But when I click the log-in button, a message pops up and says "No typed entry" or something like that even though my username and password are properly displayed as they usually are. The only reason I'm logged in now are through my phone and because I shut down my computer on both accounts that this happened and logged in no problem. Of course now, it seems I can't view status updates nor reply to one or even visit my profile despite clicking on them.

I just figure maybe I should start considering to just shut down my laptop instead of having hibernate like I usually do. And I do have occasionally updated, so perhaps that's a potential factor. This doesn't happen to me on other sites I'm a member of, just here. It's kind of strange and irks me that I don't have a clear answer for it so I can try to fix it for now.

That's not really a virus problem, so a different thread would probably work better.  However, I'll do my best to help anyway. ^^

Are you using Google Chrome?  I had a similar issue in the past, but not with this site, where even though Chrome had autocompleted my username and password, the web form would assume that the login details were blank.  That means you may have to manually enter your username and password, without the auto-complete.  To fix this, you might try erasing your cookies, or at least the cookie for SSMB, log in manually, and have your browser save your password again.  If all else fails, you might have to delete your history, cache, and cookie data for Chrome entirely, but it shouldn't have to come to that.

I actually have an issue and I don't think this relates to this. When I go to this site, it gives me a "file hosting" error site. So I backed out and clicked it again and works. Every Single. Time. Also, sometimes it redirects me to "Adult Date Finder". This is the only site that does that to me so I don't think it's malware.

As discussed above, the staff are aware of this issue and are working on it.

IP.Board is the default skin while we work to address the redirection issue.

Guess I didn't notice since I use IP.Board 24/7 but what is this re-direction issue?

Just got redirected to a file sharing website and an unknown website while trying to click on SSMB via Google. Kind of freaked out but I'm running a full system scan right now to check for any viruses on my computer.

This is a known issue.

Don't worry - you'll be clean.

I'm curious - what exactly causes this issue?

So I was sharing a link on Twitter (more specifically one in the Pokemon Anime thread if that means anything), someone who visited the site shortly after redirected to a 'specific brand of website' without warning and another to some file sharing site similar to above... Needless to say this not only shocked them but me as well. Sharing links through the forums does this occasionally? Is the site still having those lingering virus issues?

EDIT: So reading through a couple of pages here and it appears I'm not alone with this particular NSFW/virus issue.

Out of curiosity, what might the skin have to do with the issue?

Our hunch is that Sonical is the culprit due to a redirection somewhere in the skin (likely for the ads) that is outdated. The skin isn't a security issue to members and our server isn't in any risk of being hacked as there is no malicious software present.

It's being investigated further, though.

This should be fixed now. It's an issue that was present for a short period July when the backup was made that we used to restore the forums last month, so it was essentially reintroduced without our knowledge when the backup was restored.

Looks like the issue is still here, I shared post to a friend and he got redirected to a strange site.

Several more incidents from a few others have also been mentioned.

Seems like the issue still isn't solved.

I searched the SSMB on Google on a school computer today and clicked on the SSMB search result link, and it redirected me to a porn site instead of actually taking me to the forums.

Thankfully it was blocked.

I got it the other day, but only once. Once I cleared my cache everything was dandy.

My Avast is also alerting and blocking some viruses.

On what? the issue everyone is talking about here or a separate issue?

Okay, yeah, this problem is still ongoing.

With my theme set to IP.Board, accessing the message board index through Google will redirect me to Adult Friend Finder. Not every time, but sometimes. It's really annoying cause sometimes I just want to find sexy pictures of someone in my area that I might know, but instead I'm forced to talk about Sonic.

I created an account specifically to make this topic and make sure you're all aware of this issue, whether or not I'll stay is still to be decided.

I sometimes google something related to Sonic and there are results linking to somewhere on this website. When I click the link, a large portion of the time I'm redirected to another website, usually with pornographic ads. It doesn't matter if I have adblock enabled at the time, it still happens and the ads are fully visible. This only seems to happen when clicking a link from Google, and usually only happens once or twice per session.

I know I don't have a virus because it only happens on this one website and it doesn't matter what device or browser I'm using. It even happened when I was on my 3DS once.

I have no idea what might be causing it, but I request that you find a way to fix it, especially since the pages I'm redirected to usually contain content which is against your rules.

(this came out uncomfortably formal and blunt so here's an emoticon to make it less so :P)

EDIT: Looks like this was merged with a thread about a similar issue that isn't quite what I'm talking about :/
