Sonic Adventure 2 Discussion, Speculation, Media Topic

I'm guessing that's because it's played with level 1 in speed? Or am I'm wrong on that?

Maybe (Shrugs Shoulders) I know I do.

Off topic thought:

There has always been something that makes me think: Unleashed had quite a bit of DLC right?

And if we disregard the rather boost heavy nature or the God of War Brawler aspect of the game, Sonic's gameplay is rather malleable right?

AND we all know about the various alternate gameplay styles that have been prevalent in most of Sonic's 3D ventures right?

Part of me thinks, though I am not sure, if it was possible for Sonic Team to release DLC for Unleashed, NOT ONLY the DLC based on the existing gameplay styles, but to use the DLC as a testing ground.

Bear with me here. Say for example that Sonic and the Black Knight never existed, but they wanted to try something related to swordplay. Why not use Unleashed DLC as an excuse to make Sonic the guinea pig? Granted I'm not sure what kind of programming they would have to go through for that to work, but still...

NOW OBVIOUSLY the game is old and they have likely gone way past that by this point, but still, DLC could have been used as a testing ground for alt gameplay styles without forcing people to pay a larger sum of money for a full game containing that alt gameplay.

I hope that the port is just that... a port. Give it widescreen support but please... don't do anything stupid such as online play.

Why no online play?

Because if they add online play you know the following is going to happen.

1. All the exploits/bugs/unfair advantages from battle will be there and more or less ruin the online totally.

2. You know they'll add this to the chao gardens/races and everybody hates them already without having a broken matchmaking system thrown in just so you can beat the game 100%

3. The attrocious lag that you know they'll throw in there just... cos... it's a Sonic game, the online must be completely laggy otherwise... ... well.... it's a secret!

I love Chao Garden in SA2... But I agree with this...

Online play would be quite nice... but, eh, I doubt that'll happen. I just hope that the port will actually be good.

1. All the exploits/bugs/unfair advantages from battle will be there and more or less ruin the online totally.

I don't recall any, most of the players could be new-comers and they will hardly know about the bugs. Most of the games feature unfair bugs, see GTA 4 for example, but It doesn't ruin online play in anyway, sometimes even makes it more fun...

2. You know they'll add this to the chao gardens/races and everybody hates them already without having a broken matchmaking system thrown in just so you can beat the game 100%

I see no point unless you have to play the Chao Garden to unlock something that really MATTERS to the game. Beat 100%? How 'bout fun?...

3. The attrocious lag that you know they'll throw in there just... cos... it's a Sonic game, the online must be completely laggy otherwise... ... well.... it's a secret!

Then play localy only, ALL games feature lag when you play with someone far away from the host, face it. I played Sonic 4 Ep2 online with friends in my city and even in other states of my country, and I didn't have any lag, any slowdown, any input problem, it was all fine...

sometimes even makes it more fun...

What were people saying when we announced that SA2 Battle tournament at SOS last year? Wasn't it things like 'Oh please don't let it be on (insert stage here) with (insert character here) otherwise people will use that gitch/trick and it'll be impossible to win.

Exactly how is online gaming fun when your opponent will do nothing but use a glitch?

As for the whole 'most people will be new players' One trip to GameFaqs is all one needs to do before you find at least one exploit.

I see no point unless you have to play the Chao Garden to unlock something that really MATTERS to the game. Beat 100%? How 'bout fun?...

There is no fun in the Chao Gardens except for discovering the exit. In the last SA port, for some reason Sega made chao raising last longer for some ungodly reason. And why do you need to completely all of the chao gardens, because in every Sonic Adventure there have been a series of unlockables tied to the main game that can't be got unless you do this pointless exercise that should have died in the 90's with the rest of the virtual pets.

I am a 27 year old grumpy old fool, most of my friends are also grumpy old men/women who spend the bulk of their time worrying about balancing their pay slips. The last thing we want to hear when we're not being grumpy old people is 'wanna come over and play videogames.' Aside from the embarassment of saying that, which can only be topped by asking if they wanna come over and watch hardcore porn with me... Assuming I did ask them that, thier responce would be the following.... "NO! I wanna go home, sit in my pyjamas, maybe watch some telly before I fall alseep after a hard days work at the office GOD BLESS THE WORKING CLASS!" And how many people think I'm kidding when I say that!?

Unless you are still in school, have flatmates at uni which may have some small interest in gaming or live with a partner who likes games, who the hell really plays local co-op these days?

Edit: Goes and sits in a chair to be grumpy as he discovers this was his 8000th post...

He speaks the truth; I am 25, but even when I turned 21, the idea of local co-op sounded too immature for most people to actually do it. When you play online, you do it in private (who hasn't played online naked?), you do it at your own schedule, and you do it with people that at least know the game as much as you do. Because let's face it, if you ask your friends to come over to play Sonic, why do I have the feeling they will bring CoD instead and make you play that?

All-Stars Racing also have its bugs and people hardly uses it (the one to skip a lap). I know is unfair, but I can guarantee you'll find more players playing cool than cheating. No game is perfect.

That's the price for unlocking Green Hill Zone in 3D xD

Dammit I choose the wrong words 0.o What I meant is play online with someone from the same location as you (city, state, country), not localy (inviting to your place) xDD

Erm why all of this comparing to Unleashed? SU and SA2 are two completely different games. Each has their own strong points.

They suffer from practically the same bipolarity. (Day stages/Night stages vs. Speed/Hunt/Shoot)

There is a key difference though; one is heralded by many as the best 3D Sonic game (either ever, or till Colours/Generations depending on who you are). The other one was regarded as another shitty Sonic game to further entrench him into irrelevance.

I hope to see widescreen and more polished graphics, as well as some little changes:

- having SA1 spin dash back, with another imput for sommersault

- better camera control

- having the opportunity to play as Amy, Metal Sonic, Tikal, Chaos 0 and D/H Chao in 1P mode. Also Tails as reskin for Sonic

- enhanced Chao Garden with online functionality

- Super Sonic and Super Shadow in levels

- the option to hide the upgrades from cutscenes/gameplay

^ Your suggestions are really not going to happen, quite unrealistic really seeing THAT this is SEGA who ported the "wonderful" SADX for the 360 and PS3 (Although the frame rate was so smooth though ;P) . I just expect a HD port of Sonic Adventure 2 with leaderboards and SEGA will throw in the Gamecube SA2: Battle features as DLC much like they did with SA1 for the DX features.

I loved the SA1 spindash it's so broken!

Like 06 it takes many ideas from Adventure 1.

Also in Japan it's called Sonic World Adventure *shrugs*

SA2 didn't have many strong points though....alot of people dreaded playing as Knuckles/rouge, Eggman/Tails

Getting A ranks on all the stages...woah. So not worth unlocking Green Hill Zone.

Isn't the SA1 spindash like virtually the same, except you can keep hammering it because you don't do flips like in SA2?

Doesn't really matter. As posted earlier June 5th has come and gone and there was no update to the avatar marketplace with SA2 items. Not sure if it was pushed back or if it even exists.

It wasn't the correct date, thought people would've guessed this by now when the listing was removed and we didn't hear anything official from SEGA right after.

There going to announce it on their own sweet time. Until then, were just gonna sit on our hands and make wild guesses on what SEGA is going to do with a typical port.

...OR head to the Generations' mods topic, there doing some sweet SA2 related stuff as of late.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just spotted this on xbox live:

DSC00692.jpg

Before anyone rushes online SA2 has not been released but of interest sonic doesn't even appear inside the list of offers. The reason I post this is that it seems odd to use sa2 sonic art since I don't think they've ever used it until now. And what with the recent rumours I think we may be seeing something soon given sonic's birthday is this week.

Sonic (and Forza) have special offers for gold members only:

400 pts off S4E1

120 pts off Sonic Car Prop (ASR avatar item)

200 pts off CD

400 pts off SA1

200 pts off SADX upgrade
