Something was missing from this section and I suddenly realized what that was.

Which items and weapons do you expect/ hope to see in this game?



from previous game I expect:

Shield
Turbo Shoes
Mega Horn
Confusion Star
Gloves
- new layout for missles and mines

About New stuff I'd like:

- An Ice weapon that freezes characters for a certain time (it was a placeholder, hope it is staying)
- A new Weapon that hits the first player (SUMO hinted at it)
- A question mark item that randomly switch your position with another one (u can't become 1st)
- A Weapon that turns u invisible for a small amount of time, u can't be hit
- A Weapon that changes the way u hurt other characters: when u touch them, they get bounce away

I'd also like to see characters' specific weapons, that u can randomly acquire via boxes, like:

Chaos Control for Shadow
Spin Dash for Sonic
Shurikens throwing for Joe
a Thuder attack for Gilius
Banana throwing for AiAi

and so on...

why not? Only if u are able to drop your weapon. You can decide to take the risk or not, and the first and last characters can't use it

Because it would be the biggest bullshit move ever. If the person in 7th place uses it, then anyone from 2nd to 6th is at risk of falling into a terrible position for absolutely no reason. And what if you've got two racers, 1st and 2nd, that are neck and neck so they're constantrly overtaking each other? Yeah, that's fair when one of them gets dragged away and someone who was doing terribly magicallymakes it into 2nd. Even 'better' when it's near the end of the final lap.

Fuck, it's cheaper than the Blue Shell.

I'm not too keen on a switch-er-roo item either..... but it would be an interesting throwback to Sonic 2's multiplayer.


If your gonna rage over a cheap item, it might as well be over a cup of nostalgia right?


(God-dangit, I just remembered how much I hated that item in Sonic 2)

Uh, Honestly I'd rather not have Items at all. It's one reason that Mario Kart pisses me off so much.

But, uh, maybe something like a control reverser where left is right and right is left for the player in front of you, or something.

what about reducing its effect? it could only randomly switch in 1 position backwards or forward. It would only work from 3th to the 7th (if we have 8 players of course)

Skill is present for a reason, this is like saying "Oh, so you are bad at this game? Fine, be 3rd instead of 7th." It's kinda like taking away the hardwork and effort the player wants to put in... Kinda like forced speed boosters and springs.

nooo you got that wrong, I mean that this item can be used by the 3rd, the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th, not just switching from the 3rd to 7th, that'd be useless and stupid. For example, if u are 4th and u collect this item, there's a possibility of 50% u could become 3rd and 50% 5th

No.
Still no. Its better to just not have an item which switches your place with another persons place. Yeah, I'm sure you could make it in a way to avoid bullshit, but it would be far too complicated. Keep things simple.

You can turn off items in the original so I bet you can do the same here. What I would like is completely customisable weapon sets. So you can set it to just land mines, or perhaps disable rockets and All Star Moves.

And the control reverser, I find the Confusing Star from the original covers that brilliantly. Flips the screen upside down and gets really disorienting.

oh well, just throwing out ideas...I mostly care about characters' specific moves (aside from All Star moves), this could be a very nice touch

Yep. S0L and a few articles mentioned something about 'earning' all-star moves for this go around. A combination of skill-full driving and special icons scattered across the track.

Let's see if we can help sumo come up with ideas.

The homing weapon could be a lot of things. It could be a Chu Chu Rocket piloted by a single Chuchu, it'd be really cute.

The first-place weapon could be Opa-Opa, and he functions the same way as the bees in the E3 build. He will drop Heavy Bombs on the person in first place that they can dodge with skill.

Orbinaut could also be a weapon. He could function as a mine and just linger in the air with his spiked balls waiting for people to come close. Eventually if no one runs into him he'll throw the spiked balls and disappear.

Has anyone listed the weapons which have been revealed yet? And have you determined all their properties?
There are a few nice twists to even the ones which have been revealed... Has anyone witnessed the baseball gloves ability to catch yet? Or the multi hit effect of the snowball? Has anyone discussed what happens if you place a pufferfish tactically in the entrance to a transform gate making avoidance much more difficult?
Is the RC (homing) Vehicle a givaway as to who fired it? (It is always a mini version of the parent vehicle) Can you loose one when you transform through a transform gate?

Just wondering if anyone is discussing this seperately...

I kinda like the idea of character specific weapons, like there's a specific item that grants you the use of your unique weapon. I mean it's basically a common and normal-powered All-Star, but it'd be fun I think, and adds more originality to each character choice. All this said, it won't happen XD.

What's the difference between the Putterfish and the Hornets? From what I've seen, they are both obstacles that spin the opponent out of control when they hit it.
