Alas, I am proud of myself for not giving up and I wanted to know who else here has managed the feat and your thoughts on it.

Quite frankly, I can't be arsed and I don't like the prospect of inevitable frustration. The two Storybook games gave me enough of that whilst I was trying to nail them 100% thank you very much.
Still, for all of the Hard Boiled achievement's difficulty, the saving Yasmin mission is an easy contender.

Also this. I could understand if they were still broken up by mission type (the "kill robots" and time attack missions generally aren't compatible anyway, at least towards the end), but having to do the same mission 3 times, working my way up from "get 100 rings!", when I can beat the level 3 challenge in my sleep, is just wasting my time. The Hot Dog missions are terrible. Why? Because lets say I pick the ring challenge Lv1 in any stage. Chances are I'll get enough rings to complete the Lv3 Ring Challenge, defeat enough enemies for the Lv3 Enemy Challenge and finish fast enough for the Lv3 Time Attack but the game still wants me to play through the entire stage 8 more times because it said so. What the fuck?

I can only imagine they're missing a shortcut somewhere. I know I had a shitton of failed attempts before I realized there's a shortcut off the first loop. Though after all that practice, cutting out that platforming section made it trivial.I will never understand this one... I got it on my first go and still to this day wonder what all the fuss was about.

Yeah, the dayhog parts are definitely more dangerous. In most parts you're just one misstep from death, and you're likely moving at Unleashed's signature high speeds unless you want to move at a plod so you've only got fractions of seconds to make the right choices. The nighthog has some BS sections but they don't require that sort of split-second reacting and the grabbing is pretty generous if you know to hold the button. The Daytime parts of Eggmanland are also chock full of bottomless pits. Coupled with Sonic's speed, the timing of some obstacles, and a badly framed camera, I tend to die a lot more with Sonic than I do with the Werehog. Also, that fucking roller coaster.

So what is this challenge anyway that has everyone throwing a collective "Oh shit"

Beat Eggmanland without dying (technically it's a time trial mission, but the time's so generous that it isn't at all an issue). I forget if you have to do it all 3 times to get the achievement. So what is this challenge anyway that has everyone throwing a collective "Oh shit"

The first time I tried to beat Eggmanland. It took me over and hour and I used over 30 lives... and that doesn't include the hell which is the armada of bosses which come right after it...
However... the Hard Boiled challenge requires you to beat Eggmanland with only one life. No checkpoints. You die, you restart from the beginning. And you will, a lot.
