Hey everyone!

Just to introduce myself a little bit, I've been a fan of Sonic most of my life, and my favorite games are the Adventure series, though I love the classics and will gladly play any title for hours at a time.

I'm also a musician, and I write all types of music. Metal, rock, electronic, acoustic, whatever. I think some of the Sonic games have really incredible soundtracks and I want to do a metal version of at least one song, along with several electronic remixes.

Which song (preferably not already rock or metal-ish, like Bullet Station for example) do you think would sound best as a heavy rock/metal song? I'm really excited to get to work on this project, and wanna do a lot of cool stuff with it. (There will be synths as well, regardless of how heavy it is).

For a quick example of my musical style, here are some original compositions I've done:
Disaster (Metal)
Take Me Away (Older song, not as good but more melodic and has piano)
And finally on the electronic side of things, The Fading Sky

I would be really inclined to do a metal rendition of something more electronic-y from the Adventure games or more recent titles, but I'm open to anything! I'd love to hear your opinions, and I'll get started as soon as possible!

Pretty cool stuff! If you're a big fan of the Adventure games, I'd personally like to hear what this song would sound like in your style.

Also, if you haven't already, I think you should definitely take a look at the Sonic Stadium Music Album 2012 topic. You seem like you'd be a great addition to the musician lineup, should you try to remix a Sonic song or compose something new.

Hmm... I think 06's "Radical Train ~ The Abandoned Mine" and "Radical Train ~ The Chase" could be mixed to make it sound like Megadeth's "Peace Sells".

Thanks! Red Mountain is definitely an intriguing idea, I'll experiment with it tonight and see how things go. And yeah, it would be awesome to help out with that album, I'll look at the topic and see if I can get involved! Posted Image

Also: listening to the piano section near the beginning, that would sound SO awesome as a guitar-solo type of thing. I could do a lot with that.

Yeah, that's a good idea as well! I'll play around with it, the first section is really driven by bass though, and I don't own a bass guitar haha, so I'd have to do that all on the computer. But it's definitely an interesting song to think about. I like the feel of it, it would probably sound pretty sick as straight-up rock or metal.

Heyo!

Glad to see another artist around here! Just wanted to let you know that this kinda thing (since you seem to be asking for advice to make your own works from) would kinda go in the Sonic Showcase > Misc. Section. All music stuff kinda sits at home there were you can share any of your metally awesome creations. Aside from helping your projects, I don't think this would really stand as a topic that's generate too much discussion on it's own, more of a mash of youtube link posting XD.

Welcome though!

Haha thanks for moving the topic, and thanks for the welcome! It's great to find a Sonic community with lots of artistic talent, I'm already loving the forums here.

I started working on Red Mountain a couple hours ago, and I realized there's a 1/8 rest before the first melody begins that makes it terribly confusing to record with a metronome. I'll keep working to get it right; it's pretty straightforward from there. I've worked out guitar parts for the first minute or so of the song.

If anyone has any other suggestions, that would be great too... I think I might want to do something slightly different before attempting Red Mountain; it's a really unique song and I'd probably need a little more experience to do it justice.

That said, any other songs I should try?

I once heard a metal remix of Sky Chase Zone from Sonic 2.

It was awesome and someone needs to do it again.

I like Death Egg the actual level ones from Sonic 3 and Knuckles, it might work well.
Riders' Metal City.
Knuckles' Chaotix Midnight GreenHouse.
Just a few there.

I like this one, definitely an interesting song to try. Just might be hard to keep it interesting in a metal style since it does repeat a lot.

That sounded pretty sick, I really enjoyed it; it sounds fun to play as well.

You know what, I'm just going to put all these songs into a list and get to them one at a time. I got a great start on Red Mountain later last night, and it was sounding pretty cool. Unfortunately my dad decided to ground me from my own computer and take away my phone (I'm graduating high school in two weeks exactly, until then I guess he just wants to be as strict as possible, or something like that.) So it may be a while before I can resume working, but I definitely want to finish up Red Mountain and start working on some of these other awesome songs.

All Sonic Chronicles music. It would sound just absolutely brilliant. No questions asked.

I think Vela Nova could come off great if you did a Diablo Swing Orchestra approach to it.
