I don't really see what the big deal is here. All he did was pimp out his dead cat.

I mean look at it this way, by turning his cat into a helicopter he's able to remember his cat in more of a fun and exciting way, I mean in that way he can still play with it, take it out for walks flights, and just have a good time with his old friend, something he really couldn't do with a rotting carcass underground or some boring statue that just stares at you.

I'm all for keeping the memory of your pets alive, but this is just wrong.

-L-, you're being really stupid about this. I could understand getting upset if the cat in question was alive when he did this, but the fact of matter is that the goddamn thing was already dead. Are you going to tell me I'm a terrible person for eating a burger every once in a while?

If shit like this offends you, then shit like Zippocat must send you into a severe state of depression.

I'm stupid because I find sticking propellers into a dead body and flying it to be wrong. Yeah, ok. It's called having morals.

You're missing the point, I'm sure the artist respects his cat in some way. Probably really loved it. He's just no respecting it how you would. Everyone does things differently.

Egyptians would wrap bodies in bandages
People would burn bodies

This cat is being useful even after death.
Stop being silly.

Yeah, okay, no.

Paying your taxes is having morals.

Returning a dollar bill to the owner when you could've kept it is having morals.

Obsessing over something so trivial is called making mountains out of molehills.

It doesn't have to feel anything. It still counts as being sadistic, even if dead. Getting pleasure by physically abusing a dead body.

I find it amusing that you still don't get it. A sadist gains pleasure by causing pain. This cat is already dead and it no longer feels pain (or emotional trauma, for that matter). Ergo, this is not sadistic in the slightest.

This is also besides the point. The point is what the artist has done is wrong, not debating over several definitions of the word sadistic.

And how exactly is it "wrong"? Animals don't give a shit what happens to their carcasses after they die, and unless this cat is a remarkable exception that specifically expressed a desire to be buried, I fail to see how this is morally "wrong".

Bringing taxidermy to a new level? Creative, but creepy. I am not a fan of looking at this kind of "art", I must say. If I was physically there, it might have made me sick. Having said that, it's an empty shell. If you are an animal lover, this might not be the topic for you. A cat owner decided to do something ... ehm ... special ... with his deceased cat. Some find it cool and funny, some find it awkward and some find it offensive. At any rate, please calm down, there is no need to be rude toward each other in here.

It's wrong because he turned a dead cat into a flying machine. I can't believe I'd even have to justify myself for stating that it's wrong. It should be blatantly obvious.

Well clearly it isn't, so could you please drop it before we all get striked?

I tried doing such earlier, but still got several replies.

But yes, let's drop it. We're going to have to agree to disagree. We're not going to come to an agreement over this any time soon.

I am glad you have reached an agreement. As seen, this can be quite a sensitive subject with conflicting opinions.

Alrighty then, time to carry on. In one way, the owner does not have to depart from the cat, but I know that something like this I would have never been able to do or cope with.

Well...odd choice I guess. Next up is putting a mechanical system inside of the body and reanimating it.

To -L-'s credit, my idea actually was completely sadistic.

...not sure how to feel at this.

I'll admit, my initial reaction was to find the picture funny; after all, how many Photoshopped images of a similar nature have we seen over the Internet in the last five years? Then it sunk in a bit that it's actually real, and... ew.

I mean yes, if the cat died naturally then it's technically not cruel, but god damn that doesn't stop it from being disrespectful and pretty damn creepy.

His intentions were for this to be a tribute to his cat. That intention doesn't sound disrespectful.

There are different ways to honor something. Gutting it out and turning it into a machine is a pretty unusual way of honoring it. That's like turning George Washington's corpse into a ballot box. Now while the corpse can't talk because it's not alive and people are shoving slips of paper down its windpipe, it should go without saying that this wasn't what he had in mind.

Now there's a bit of a difference here. Unlike a human who must abide by human standards, a cat does not abide or care about our standards of respect. The only set of standards it abides to are those of the companion who raised it. At that point as long as its not mistreated in life or killed to suffice its owner's fetishes. It is at the mercy of what it's owner feels would be a good tribute.

I saw the picture and I burst out laughing. Then I felt bad. Now I'm unsure how I feel about this, however it does make me giggle seeing it fly (while still feeling a bit bad about it). I don't see it as a work of art though, personally. But it is interesting...

You wanna know why I asked about people's opinions if it turned out "popular" pop singers turned out to be mass produced androids?

This is why.

I love animals, so I hate it when I see animal cruelty and stuff.

But this is hilarious! I'm actually laughing at the images and the video. Maybe I have a dark sense of humour, but it's just so original to do something cool with a taxidermy animal. Hes not mistreating it, cos it's already dead lol. This artist is now my hero. And he's Dutch too, which makes him even more awesome in my eyes (I'm Dutch/English)!

Goed gedaan, jongen! XP
