Don't actually know if that's the correct section of the forum to open this thread, but considering we have the thread SEGA 2012 and 2013's plans I think that may be ok

Anyway, what do you think are the franchises that deserve a sequel or a complete reboot? We had a rumor about Billy Hatcher getting a new game (which I don't believe personally).

That's my 5 choices

5* Place: Jet Set Radio

I have never played it on Dreamcast, but I'm going to buy the upcoming port Day one. From the many videos I've seen, it seems a really fun game to play. Could be a worth candidate to WiiU and 3DS

4* Place: Ecco the Dolphin

I really loved the unique game that was Ecco Defender of the future for Dreamcast. If you look at it today u might still be astonished by the realism and the incredible amount of details and animations they gave to Ecco. After almost 12 years he still looks real. A reboot for new Generation console is a must, using the new graphic engine with a unique environment like Ecco's. Could be a very hard core game in one hand, with crazy puzzles and deep story, as well as an incredible exploration game full of minigames and side missions that could entertain even the youngest crowd.

3* Place: Guardian Heroes

Well, a masterpiece released on Saturn that I literally burned. My surprise was beyond any imagination when I found out that SEGA and Treasure wanted to port it on XBLA. The game is fresh, the characters are original and varied, and the gameplay is one of the best example (if not the best) of the genre. A mix between Street Fighter, Streets of Rage, Shinobi with alternate plot routes as well as some cool RPG elements. A game than needs a port on Apple devices too, as well as a reboot with a 2D gameplay and a 2D design (like BlazBlue)

2* Place: NiGHTS

I've always loved the magic feeling behind the Saturn games. The characters was ambiguos, enigmatic, and yet so fascinating, and the atmosphere was magic for that time. Christmas NiGHTS was a work of art and love, even if short. Journey of Dreams is not so great, but has some gentle touch like the intro CG, the awesome soundtrack, the design of the characters (except NiGHTS' gloves and his/her personality resembling too much Sonic at times) and some cool idea for levels. Even the story has some nice twists and some goosebumps moment like the endings.
I hope it gets a reboot trying to recreate the feeling of the saturn era. There are a lot of possibilities for this game!

1* Place: Shenmue

obvious my ultimate choice. One of the best game ever made, and a story that deserves to see it's end. I'm quite optimistic to be honest, mostly because of the rumors about Shenmue port HD in the works. For a sequel, I'd wait new generation consoles

Hmm. I can't really name five, but I'd like to see Jet Set Radio, Ecco and Ristar (!) make a comeback. The latter is unlikely, but the other two would be possible since they used to be pretty popular back in the day. NiGHTS would be good too, but they tried to reboot that one with Journey of Dreams and look how that turned out. =S

I'd like to see NiGHTS revived. That's always been the most interesting series SEGA's brought out.
I've also been hoping they'd bring out a NiGHTS stage DLC for Sonic Generations just for the heck of it you know?

Moved into the computer games section

Also. I'd like everyone to refrain from posting nothing but lists, but feel free to talk about what you'd want to see revived and why.

Honestly I think Sonic himself needs a reboot.

Sonic should have the same respect he had with gamers like he did in the 90's. The past decade, all main Sonic games and most Sonic spin-offs have been poor to mediocre with most gamers with an exception of Generations (personally I think it's mediocre because it's too short and the story wasn't interesting at all) and Colors (But why did they have to break up each zone to 6 acts? Some of them only take less than a minute to complete!)

I think it's alright as it is to be honest. Playing the old games now they feel themselves feel pretty mediocre compared to Unleashed and the games that follow. (Unleashed having the most life in it)

Even Sonic 4 (A classic game) Felt really mediocre. But sadly that was expected when screenshots came pouring in.

You know what? You're right.
A nice reboot is what the series needs it's gone on long enough.

What would you like to see in a reboot?

I'd like to see Ristar again. :U

Who?

Shenmue (Sequel)
It's my two facourite games of all time, this had to come first. Not much to say, I want a sequel as bad as every other fan does, it's the Megaman Legends of SEGA.

Phantasy Star (Reboot)
NOT TALKING PSO, PSO2 is looking great! I'm talking a proper full-on RPG like the original tetralogy but made for todays systems.

Resonance of Fate (Sequel)
One of my favourite games this generation, I don't mind if it's just a in-name-only sequel like the Final Fantasy series or a full-on sequel, I just love the style of writing this team has and the gameplay is so much fun.

Ecco The Dolphin (Sequel or Reboot)
I recently replayed Defender of the Future (The 2000 reboot) and damn the game is fun, the only real problem might be slightly dated controls, something sequel or reboot would certainly fix. We need more good under-water games to begin with, I love swimming around in a beautifully rendered evniroment, might be because my aquaphobia prevents me from doing it in real life.

NiGHTS (Sequel)
I like Journey of Dreams. I do. I love both NiGHTS games and just want more and more of it. I don't see why not either, didn't Journey of Dreams sell pretty well? (For being a relatively unknown title to modern audiences)

Couldn't pick a specific order, so take it as you will.

I think Ristar could have been really popular but just suffered from poor timing when it was released. They should have really bumped up the graphics and released it as a Saturn title ala 3D Blast rather than release it near the end of the MegaDrive's life time.

Honestly I'd never even heard of the game until Mega Collection but it's certainly one of my favourites now.

I doubt it, people were getting tired of mascot-games by then. That's why so few survived. RIP Jazz Jackrabbit.

Am I the only one who would love another Space Channel 5 game? It's one of my favourite games on the Dreamcast and I think it's well worth a 3rd installment. I mean, the gameplay is pretty unique, it had some kickass tunes and a new game could even have some Kinect/Move compatibility (although hopefully as an optional thing - I'd still prefer the controller). Make it happen Sega!
The only downside: No more Space Michael. D=

No, I'd love one, but it would not be the same without Space Michael.

Ristar. I honestly think it would be a great idea because it was a fun and unique game, and lots of franchises are getting 2D reboots/sequels lately. I just hope it's hand-drawn and not bland 2.5D like we've been getting. Or at least, give the 3D models some sort of style.

If I had to pick more, perhaps Toejam & Earl, Vectorman, Knuckles' Chaotix, Tails' Adventures...

Nope. The world needs more Ulala.

Also I'd like to see a new Crazy Taxi though. I heard it did get sequels but I never got the chance to play them.

Oh definitely would like to see a new Space Channel 5 or Crazy Taxi! No more Offspring songs though = sad panda. 8<

SEGA has so many other great franchises besides Sonic, yet they never seem to create new games or reboots for them.

I always thought Space Channel 5 was dying to see a new game on the Wii and I still don't really understand why it hasn't happened.

Only two for me. Jet Set Radio looks great but honestly I never played one.

I've had a thing for Ecco for many years. David Brin who writes sci-fi about sapient dolphins (they are good space navigators, because space is like the water lol) did the story for Defender of the Future. I like the originals though.

Ecco the damn Dolphin is about a dolphin who travels time, fights sharks, giant prehistoric sea worms, and kills alien lobsters like his name was Ellen Ripley. You needed a password system because this game was hard as hell. Puzzles! Dolphins are good at puzzles yo. You need me to push this shit with my nose? Done. Bitches love my nose. His nose is like indestructible by the way. Can we echo-locate with my melon head? Yeah we can echo-locate. My friend the giant DNA strand is about to send me on a mission to save the world. I split the time stream today. What did you do today?

I have one major idea that should be put into a game like this. First you got the obvious puzzle/exploration elements. The old games used these glyphs as buttons and keys to shift doors open and other things. Ecco got certain songs in the new game that did different things. I like the song element, Ecco is like a swimming ocarina of time which is badass. Puzzles are the spirit of this game and they need to make up the main gameplay. I'm trying to think of a game that's comparable but nothing comes to mind, which is why this series is important for being unique. Water is a full 3D space, not just back-forward-left-right, but the vertical depth of the ocean should make this game very interesting. The old games had a few rescue missions which were cool. If the areas are large enough things like "Oh Ecco help me find my missing whale calf" could be optional flavor missions. But the main point I was getting to was the warp levels.

Ecco used to go through these warp holes between some levels in Tides of Time, switching to a forward-scrolling minigame about jumping through rings. This was frustrating as hell because of the controls, but I find the concept worth expanding on. Between these open levels with strange puzzles, you could have five minutes of real Starfox the damn Dolphin as an actual rail shooter. That's a minigame worth having. Everyone loves Starfox. We already said that water is like space. Hell you could make a game just about this and I'd buy that, shooting down crazy nautilus bosses with your sonar and making it rain caviar. The series could benefit from some modern timing elements ala Uncharted too, danger events like ledges crumbling and other out-to-get-you environment, dramatic camera shifts, to keep you on your game during the main levels. I love freakin' Ecco the Dolphin. There was a sequel in development for his DC game too.

I wanted to write about Ristar but I dunno how to convert his absolutely genius platforming concept into a 3D game about grabbing things. You'd need hella good targeting, or an auto targeting system that wasn't a damn homing attack.

Oh yeah I also support a new NiGHTS game.
