Not sure if anyone has seen the OCRemix competition currently running (link here) but I was thinking perhaps we could start an SSMB one? The resulting remixes that come out of it could all be added to the SSMB remix album!

Just thought I'd gauge some interest in it first before we start anything. I'll update this post as people reply!

I wouldn't really think that's a good idea. xD; All of the musicians on the site are contributing to the album anyways, so it wouldn't be fair to make some sort of contest out of it.

...a TSS competition though....

If anything maybe we can just wait for the album to be finished, and then hold a vote to see whose song is the best/most popular. That way we can still have some friendly competition without it being a whole separate deal. Just a thought.

I'm kinda shaky on the idea really.

I mean I do like the idea of choosing a stage that everyone tries their hand at, but to make it so that the winner gets into the album project makes me iffy. I mean what if the stage that was chose happened to be a stage someone was already working on for the project? I just don't see it settling too well with everyone.

I love the idea though, but maybe not have it tied to the album project. Maybe a special spotlight on the radio or something? An article on the front page?

I think you guys are misinterpreting the first post...

I don't see anything there saying winner makes it in only, he is stating that the remixes that are done as entries could also double in as remix album submissions

I wasnt suggesting the winner gets their entry into the SSMB album (that would be ridiculous!). Instead, any remixes that were made for the comp could be used in the album if that artist approved it?

I didnt think it would be fair to copy the format OCR had (each person picks a stage, and they go up against another remixer with a stage and each remix has to contain each of the two stages) but I did think it was a brilliant idea.. Any thoughts for a theme?

Edit: If we're worried about doubling up from tracks people have already submitted/claimed for the album we could just lock those tracks out?

I support this idea! I wouldn't be able to tribute because I can't make music though.

I think his would only work if we chose a game to concentrate on and do a remix album for it. Like Hedgehog Heaven or Project Chaos..

I actually like the idea of us battling it out to contribute our remix's... Kinda makes us want to do better.
