On Tuesday, we posted this image to our SEGA Facebook and Twitter. While many people didn’t know what it was, there were also fans who knew immediately. It’s NiGHTS.

Today is a day that many NiGHTS fans have been waiting for. We’re so excited to announce that an HD remake of the fan-favorite flying platformer, NiGHTS into dreams…, will be coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network, and Windows PC Digital Download this fall. To prove this news isn’t a dream itself, check out the first official NiGHTS trailer!
“The SEGA Saturn offered many unique gaming experiences, and NiGHTS into dreams… stands out as one of the most recognizable titles that found a home on the system,” said Chris Olson, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA. “We’ve gotten a lot of requests about this game over the years, and are very happy to be able to give both former Saturn owners and new players a chance to play it in its most beautiful form to date this fall.”

Initially released for SEGA Saturn 16 years ago today, on July 5, 1996, NiGHTS into dreams… is one of the best-regarded games in SEGA history and a favorite of many fans thanks to its innovative 3D gameplay and multi-faceted level design. This new version will bring Nightopia to vivid life with improved HD graphics and a 16:9 aspect ratio, as well as added support for leaderboards, trophies, and achievements. It will also feature an optional Saturn Mode that will let players experience the game with the original graphics intact.

If it also includes Christmas Nights(which would be perfect due to the fact is releasing near the holidays season) everything will be perfect.

I've wanted to play this game for so long. I enjoyed the actual NiGHTS segments in Journey of Dreams so no doubt I'll enjoy this. Day one download for me.

Wow, I've noticed that they've announced the HD port right on NiGHTS 16th anniversary, too. :D

Alright, I kid you not, this actually happened. I was talking to someone about the possibility of re-releasing NiGHTS and how I really wanted to play it... this was an hour ago.

I posted a video on Facebook and tagged Iizuka-san prompting him to reveal it.

So yeah. Haha, that was a hilarious coincidence. Was also talking to a friend about it last night... don't have a screencap for that, but I'm understandably jazzed about this!

I finally get to play NiGHTS! I'm so happy!

Awesome, so excited. The graphic improvements are nice.

Too bad it missed the 15th anniversary. I wonder if Christmas NiGHTS will be DLC. I'm guessing it will be like the DX content was for Sonic Adventure.

Hm. When the rumbling was happening earlier, I expected nothing more than a port of the PS2 version. This is quite a bit better than that.

Holy crap. YES. I haven't been able to play the game since my Saturn died...now I'll finally be able to play it again after all these years. SEGA...I love you. Really, I do.

Is there a date yet? (I'm assuming not)

Oh my God, yes. This. Been a fan of the character ever since I got back into Sonic a couple years back and have always wanted to play the original. Totes worth getting on first day release.

It's about damn time! Though I was kinda expecting this (or NiGHTS to be announced for ASRT) since Sega posted that picture on Facebook and Twitter. But still, I'm incredibly happy! Posted Image

I think I would actually cry out of happiness it if they did that. I've been trying to get my hands on Christmas NiGHTS (at a reasonable price that's not over $80) for the LONGEST time.

Still to this day the best SEGA game ever made.

Hmm,looks like it's a port of the PS2 version which is the best way to go since you can select original or enhanced graphics and Christmas Nights was in that version.

I will be getting this for sure.

For SEGA, for Gamers everywhere and more importantly...for myself; I have never played it and I will be greatly curious. Couldn't care if the Saturn Original is the "superior" version, unless your gonna crap out a saturn one for me to play then take that shit somewhere else :)

This should be good.
