Yes ladies and gentlemen, your childhood has come back to haunt you yet again! If you ever owned a box of Lego's before, you should immediately be feeling horrible pains in your feet and terrifying memories of stepping on those spiky little blocks. Feel the painful wonderful nostalgia yet? If you haven't yet, you're going too soon! This is... the Lego thread.

Ever since 1949 when the company first opened it's doors, millions of those tiny little pieces have been made, in just about every color of the rainbow! The company manufactures 36 Billion Pieces each year, and if you have enough parts, you can quite literally build anything, even a plastic-powered spanking machine. (No, seriously.) Since it began producing plastic bricks, the Lego Group has released thousands of sets with a variety of themes, including Space themed sets, Vikings, Ninja's, Elemental Robots, Pirates, Western, Time-Travel, and just about everything else you can think of. Lego is not only a toy either, it's practically a subculture amongst the nerds people that collect them. Five Theme-Parks, an Entire Store, Several Video-Games, Official Cartoons, and just about everything else have stemmed from the toyline, and a Theatrical Lego Movie is being released 2014!

Of course, Lego is nothing without it's massive amount of different themes. Let's take a look at the most popular ones, shall we?

------------------------------------------------------------------

Lego Star Wars was the company's first Licensed theme, and one of the most popular ones. It started in 1999 to commemorate the release of the worst star wars movie Phantom Menace, later going on to make Adaptions of the Other movies as well, and that's not even mentioning the 4 Video Games made for the theme! It's one of the most recognizable parts of the Lego Brand, and it's not scheduled to finish until atleast 2022, if ever!

Life-Span: 1999 - 2022 (Unless it's renewed.)

Bionicle was Lego's attempt to make a Dark and Edgy theme aimed for the older crowd, featuring a complex story and well, giant cyborg robots. Along with Lego Star Wars, the success of the series saved Lego from almost going bankrupt, and it's still one of the most influential Lego themes to date. It was replaced in 2010 with Lego Hero Factory, due to the series's loss in sales and the it's dwindling fandom. Despite this, it's still fondly remembered, and it lasted 9 whole years.

Life-Span: 2001 - 2010

Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu is Lego's newest best-selling toyline, and it also has a CG-Animated Series to go along side it that airs on Cartoon Network. Unlike most Merchandise-Driven shows, Ninjago has been described as being surprisingly good by many, featuring high-quality animation and fairly good writing, and despite it's cast of adorable Mini-Figures, has no issues with throwing in fairly dark elements into the plot.

The series combines the imagination and weirdness of the normal Lego toys, the humor from the Video-Games, along with the storyline driven aspects of Bionicle. The story of the series goes a little something like this: Four Ninja's with Elemental Powers that can turn into Tornado's and possess weapons made out of Solid-Gold live on a Flying Pirate Boat and own a pet Four-Headed Dragon fight paranormal enemies such as the King of Shadows, Lord Garmadon, an Army of Human/Snake hybrids that worship a giant Serpent that is prophesied to devour everything in existence, and even the Undead Armies of the Underworld to prevent them from conquering the surface-world. Also, the Four Ninja's must train the dangerously-powerful son of the Main Villain, Lloyd Garmadon, to become the ultimate warrior so that he may one day destroy his own father and bring peace to the world.

Have I lost you yet? In short, it's really impossible to describe the show at all, or even give it a Genre. It's something that must be seen to be believed.

Life-Span: 2011 - 2013 /2014 (Rumored)

------------------------------------------------------------------

So, feel free to discuss anything Lego related here, whether that is cherished Childhood nightmares memories, or talking about the games/shows/official-underwear. Discuss away!

I don't know what it is about Ninjago, it should be one of those shows that I dont give a shit about......but I do.

The characters are fun and fairly well written, the animation is surprisingly decent, and it can be quite humourous. I just really like the show. Kinda weird.

So... I'm the only one who has never stepped on a Lego piece? Because most of the time I carefully worked on a table.

Lego and Sega, Y U NO MAKE OFFICIAL LEGO SONIC SETS? Or at least Mega Bloks or even Kre-O... .__.

Nothing was better than Bionicle. Nothing.

It had plot, movies, books, it was fucking awesome

Hell, it even has it's own wiki

My favorites were the Toa Metru. They look so cool, and they actually move tlike real action figures.

I miss Bionicle so much. I have the original 2001 Toa Mata, with Tahu in my room. My favorite year was the first, and the last year, was horrible, because Bionicle Stars was a massive disappointment.
I remember back in 2006, when the Piraka and Toa Inkia came out, and my first real Bionicle was Jaller, the Toa of Fire.
The memories I had of that series will never be forgotten. Long live, Bionicle!

I never had themed Legos, only the traditional ones. The sets Harry Potter, Star Wars, Bionicles were too expensive to my parents to afford. But yes, I had buckets and buckets of the traditional one, over 9000 at least 1000 thousand pieces. Not bragging myself, but I was the fucking shit building Lego of my neighborhood. I built lots of characters, like Sponge Bob, Bart Simpson, Sonic, Mario, Rayman (that one I had to tie a nylon line between the body, head, hands and feet, something like a puppet, since Rayman don't have a neck, arm or leg) and some structures like a giant castle with lots of towers and a sphinx (which had a secret door, place where I hid my money xD). I also built mechanical structures, such as an elevator tied with a string and a Lego wheel, and when I spin that wheel, the string pulls the elevator up Posted Image I loved Lego!

Personally I was/still am a BIG BIONICLE/Hero Factory fan. Hell I still have all my toys. I have collected and preserve nearly all the sets from 2004 onwards and to this day, even if BIONICLE has been decimated in 2010 I still collect Hero Factory sets which are pretty much really similar and have really great building experiences.

So yeah, big fan here.

EDIT: I LOVE YOU SOLKIA
