Regarding NSFW/ecchi/whatever images.

Dan Green is an insult now?

It was at my school.

Also, the irony of telling everyone not to post smut whilst posting smut is not lost on me.

Glad this came about. Nothing against anyone who likes those images, but it's already odd enough browsing a Sonic forum in public, the images made it even more difficult to do so... :v

Now now, it appears I've stirred up a bit of fuss editing a certain profile pic today, on account of it being arguably NSFW. Leading to me being called, of all things, 4kids level, a virgin, a bad mod, Dan Green and just plain told I suck! :X

I’m going to take those comments as jokes, mostly like how my photoshopping was a joke in the first place, but there’s still a serious point underlying all the kidding.

was a joke, but look who's taking it seriously now?

I shouldn't have to explain why it's not a good thing to have NSFW images on this board. Or even borderline NSFW images. For better or for worse, most of our demographic is underage. We are a Sonic The Hedgehog fan forum, and I don’t think it’s too much an ask to have a fan forum of a very, very family friendly franchise be safe to browse without being accosted by anime T&A.

If we're supposed to be child friendly, then maybe the board should not endorse so much foul language, hostile debates and general disrespect in the status feed, despite that Thread Roareye wrote up?

] Let's play Cool or Smut!

how about lets not?

Despite all your comparing and blues clues, my original image falls into none of these categories you classed as Smut/not ok, in fact it presented no camel toe, no visible nips or suggestive body language, oh and her ass was covered up, the only thing that was remotely fleshy about it was her BACK, unless BACKS are classed as T&A or smutty material then i'm inclined to think my original image was SFW and it's been that way for months yet you only take action now?

it doesn't bother me so much, but lately it seems like the Mods are intentionally purging any form of fun from the forums, first the no silly names in the status, badgering me because my grammar apparently sucks because i missed a Capital letter from the beginning of one of my posts(despite being dyslexic) now this un-needed topic?

if you had such a problem with it why didn't you just PM me a NO-NO Soniko! and i'd of rectified this minor problem myself.

But whatever, continue modding and stuff like you guys do until you find the next rule to put in place to make this place an even tighter vice than it already is.

I'm going to be gone for the next two hours, but I'm interested in other people's opinions on this. If you want you can post your thoughts, positive or negative and I'll respond when I get back.

No one will be struck or banned for their opinion. But I have to be upfront and say we're unlikely to change our stance much.

Would have rather me just take it down and given you a strike instead?

no, i'd of rather you told me via personal message like i said, or at least, sent a PM AFTER you defaced the image in my profile (which i saw the light side of) but you try to act all "not cool, i fixed it for you" and you only painted over her back and her legs... so that's proof against your "smut" claim.

Because this rule effects more then just you and it makes more sense to do a board-wide announcement of "dial back the smut" then it does to just tell you personally. It's funny you call this an unneeded topic when basically everyone was on my ass about explaining myself earlier today. This is not a new rule. This has always been a rule, I'm just clarifying it.

Fair enough, but it's hardly an issue with it mainly laying with very few members, the only other thing this falls under is late night status hotlinking sometimes oversteps the rules, which we get penalized for so yeah, otherwise why don't you take a cruise through other people's profiles?

Your pic is basically in the same category as #4. And if you can't see that you're fooling yourself.

don't kid yourself Remy, i've got the picture lined up next to it, and you've by far blown the ball out of the park as it's nowhere near as bad as you claim it to be, i know bad, Bad is what's in my room in my display cabinet, this is soft, SOFT stuff compared to what you're thinking it is, but i've changed it anyway to keep you all happy.

People walking past aren't going to see that I've wrote the word fuck in this sentance but they are going to notice the cute picture of a puppy I've attached. There is a difference between harsh language within a wall of text (no biggie) and giant honking titties being on your screen (embarassing)

iODIj8q8iJY2x.jpg

If you really wanted the mods to get rid of all the fun on the forum we could almost certainly add a word filter and get rid of all debating. Disrespect in the status feed is indeed an issue, and one we are working forward to try and combat. if you ever feel threatened or disrespected in the status updates, don't hesitate to contact a mod.

doesn't matter if you post a picture of a puppy or not, still a problem underlies within Public discussion with over cursing, and it's not like you guys take kindly to new young members anyway whenever they make a topic of "why is shadow the hedgehog hated?" some of you fail to see they're a newbie and proceed to firmly show them the door when locking their topics, not saying you're guilty of this Remy but it's just more fuel to the fire about this being a kid friendly environment.

and finally-

I can't figure out what this is regarding. But if it's over people calling another people a gay homo faggot loser, which is the only mod related decision i can think of lately- that is not mere "silly names." That's idiotic, rude, antagonistic bullying/harassment.

no, no, nooooooo not faggot, loser, homo etc. i actually hate that too urgh, but when we jokingly re-word our usernames into something offensive, it's only done jokingly like Enderwoman becoming Enderbitch or Super Soniko becoming Supah Sawnicho etc.

i get where you're coming from, but you guys only see your calls with MOD VISIONS instead of seeing it from the Members' point of view as well.

Oh, and i'm not asking you to change your stance on the matter, it's agreeable yes but still feel my original image was SFW, that's my only gripe.

I really hate it when people use "child friendly" to back up forum rules that are already pretty much a standard at a majority of forums. No, there really isn't a difference to harsh language and porn when it comes to child friendly content, I mean do you honestly think something like this:

Yeah you know what?

You're a cunt.

as deserved as it was, is something parents want their children saying? Hell no it isn't, I would have been grounded for 2 months if I said that shit.

The rules are already basic and understandable. "Child-friendly" has barely anything to do with it.

And most Sonic fans are in their 20's. The ones that aren't are at that. other. forum.

As for the Picture, I don't think Remz was in the wrong, Soniko. The first picture was topless and the second one might as well have been topless. There's plenty of sexy pics of Soniko on the web that fit the rules. I can understand why you'd be mad about him just changing it out of nowhere without telling you (or did he? Idfk.), but yeah, I'm just dragging out at this point.

And goddamn my computer is running slow tonight...

but yeah, that's my opinion on it.

I don't know why you seem to think that the issues of NSFW material exist in some sort of vacuum, because it doesn't. There is no single categorization consisting of one form of inappropriate material. Words =/= Imagery.

This is part of the reason why the Trigger Warning fad is so prevalent nowadays because people have to emphasize that some people will get offended by a certain type of written material, not the fact that it uses cursewords but because it has to do with a certain topic of debate people don't want to be around. We've banned quite a few for this reason alone; suicide topics most notably. But that's an entirely different kettle of fish to fry and it all has to do with what contextual and prevalent issues in society and communities bring to the bigger picture.

Besides I don't see anyone here actually mentioning "child-friendly" environment but you. Underage doesn't mean it's tailored for kids.

As a Christian, I'm glad this rule has been put up. Cuts down the unnecessary lust in this community. I came here to talk about Sonic (and sometimes other games) not to see lust stuff. No offense Soniko, but before wherever your post I have to cover up your avatar. It doesn't apply to just you either.

I do agree on the idea of a word filter, as the intentions of some words are likely to be misconstrued, felt like I was personally attacked in status updates.

Come on now, be reasonable. You want to ban smut, that's fine. You're the guys in charge, you dictate.

But don't tell me a pic of a girl on a low angle is oh-so-bad and supermodel Asuka on a skimpy bikini on a huge bike is acceptable :V

EDIT: Also if that last picture is considered smut and unacceptable I formally request a ban on discussing Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Hokuto no Ken, Bleach, or any other manga with huge amounts of homoeroticism.

All the pics kinda looked sexual to me. I don't really have problem with those. If they are showing anything more downstairs then that is why I would draw the line but hey everybody's different.

Got admit does seem strange that showing a little bit of titty is wrong even covered up but you can say cunt (within reason).wink.png

This is not a "child-friendly" board. This is a "safe for work" board. That's why we have banned sex talk and this embargo on NSFW images is absolutely nothing new.

Well, it's as the old saying goes; a picture tells a thousand words. And likely turns people on more than words in the same multitude.

No offense to Anime fans but I praise this, I praise this greatly. It's been on the back of my mind that aloooooooooooot of Anime Pics have been popping up recently, not just pics used in topic comments but also Display pictures. It's just one of the many factors, why I've just started lurking now :/

I would like to point out this is in the rules-

http://board.sonicst...tion=boardrules

No adult material. If you post porn or highly offensive content you will be out of here quicker than rabbits can go at it.

But it's kind of vague. The purpose of this topic was to draw attention to it.

Username: "VizardJeffhog"

Well SHIT.

I kid! I kid! Since when has bleach been erotic anyway?
