Hmm am I the only one wondering why the boutique has been boarded up on both the inside and outside? Is it just an error or what? I can't think of a logical reason why. A gag? Maybe whatever is inside is trying to be kept in and whatever is outside is trying to be kept out?

Those images make me uneasy. It's just so unusually quiet and barren. It looks like everything was driven to poverty and than everyone either went insane, left or died. Those boards on the open front of the barn just makes me uneasy. Those shabby outfits make me also feel uncomfortable. It's like something out of a horror fic. That one with the three x's on it, especially. It's like Rarity went insane and paranoid for months on end. I hate images like this because when I don't know what happened, my imagination runs and I terrify the hell out Of myself.

That's surprising, considering my store is always flooded with Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie toys................. and AJ without her hat. *RAGE FACE*

Flutters was nowhere to be seen and I looked around; a few Pinkies tho' and a bunch of Raritys. Might check out Target again when I go pick up Transformers on the 21st. Gamestop is literally right next to it, so it won't be a hassle. I probably could've picked up AJ while I was at Wallyworld tho'. I had $20 and only spent $10, but I'm content with a McDonalds toy for now. Speaking of which, I got a job there, yay.

I also could've gotten a handful of blindbags, but knowing my luck I won't get the ponies that I really want.

Also, I just wanna say that the posters are really really cool and fun to look at. Plus they were free, so...

EDIT: I also like how RD's toy came with a little framed picture (more like a picture frame with a sticker on it) of the Mane 6 as an accessory. I thought it was kind of cute.

Why is Fallout Equestria such a famous fanfic? My understanding is that it's OC ponies set in the Fallout world. I can understand if it's well written and all but all those sidestories by other authors that probably aren't as good? I'm not into Fallout so I'm not really interested in reading it.

Fallout: Equestria is such a famous fanfic because—surprise surprise—it is a very GOOD fanfic. That's how things become popular, of course.

It's not quite “OC ponies in Fallout world", but it's close. The concept is “what if ponies went to Fallout-styled nuclear war?" so part of the story is about the Mane 6 and their struggles during the war and how on earth they let it escalate so badly, and the rest of the fic is about a group of OCs two hundred years in the future and their travels and exploits in the Equestrian Wasteland. (The emphasis is on the latter story, and this is a very good thing.)

The reason for the hundreds of side-stories is because FO:E does a fantastic job of world-building, and you get the feeling reading the fic that there's adventures going on all over the place that you're not reading about. It's a fanfic writer's dream. (I'd say my favourite side-story is definitely Murky Number Seven, despite it failing the LittlePip test. Though, even Project Horizons fails that test—annoyingly—so it's not exactly the best measure of quality.)

Finally, you don't have to be a fan of Fallout to enjoy FO:E. Seriously, all you really miss are a few jokes and some foreshadowing; everything essential is explained within the fic.

So, if this post hasn't already made it clear, I quite like Fallout Equestria and I very much support reading it whenever you have the time. You probably won't regret it.

God damn I'm taking forever writing the next chapter to my fanfic. It's been what, 10 days since I posted the last chapter? Of course, this is going to be the longest chapter yet but that really isn't an excuse as it's not that much longer than the previous chapters. Luckily though, I'm almost done with it so it should be up tomorrow. Hopefully you people who actually read my story think it's worth the wait. Yes, I know that, compared to other authors, 10 days isn't very long between updates but it is to me. It just annoys me when I don't have the next chapter out in a couple of days.

You know, I have a lot of ideas for a sequel. In fact, I have an idea for a whole trilogy of fanfics. That means, basically, Through The Crack is a prologue to the other two fics in my proposed trilogy as the two sequels are going to have an entirely different perspective than TTC. In order to write those two sequels, I'm going to have to finish TTC first. Only 3 more chapters to go... come on, I can do it!

Seriously though, I'm kinda curious to see what I can find at a few stores now. Like I knew there's pony toys and stuff out I guess, it's just that it's weird to me that I'm actually into something that a store is currently supplying, and is big enough to have quite a lot of different merch easily available, XD. I'm going to have to echo that sentiment. My other two obsessions, Sonic and Michael Jackson, don't have very much merch in stores nowadays. Michael Jackson isn't very popular anymore and, even if they do have MJ CD's, it's never the CD's I want/don't have. With Sonic, most stores don't stock Sonic merch at all! The only Sonic merch I've seen is at Gamestop and ONCE at Barnes & Noble. Seeing some merch about one of my obsessions that is readily available is a godsend. Now, if only I had some money to get said merch...

So after Bioware posted that Pinkie Pie picture on their Facebook page, the feedback was, predictably, a shitstorm. This here is Bioware's response.

This details exactly what irks me so much about the people who get upset whenever they stumble across something pony related (WHAT A POPULAR INTERNET THING EXISTING ON THE INTERNET WHAAAAAT!!??). Apparently there were people who threatened to sell all of their copies of Mass Effect. Because of Pony fanart.

Yes, there are some annoying bronies but for fucks sake, I have NEVER seen a hatedom go this far before.

I can understand wanting to roll eyes at the sight of a pony. But unliking a page, selling the games you love and saying that a series is ruined for you just because of one pony crossover picture posted as a JOKE by the company? I think that crosses the line into personal issues. The Silver and Shadow hatedoms look like fanbases compared to this pony hatedom, I see people posting all the time that nobody actually hates the show or gets mad at seeing some random picture of it and that they just hate bronies for spamming it everywhere. This sort of stuff though tells me otherwise, I'd rather hang out with those idiots from Brony Pizza Hut than with any of those excessive haters.

Flying High, Falling Hard:

This thing deviates from canon (ditches the events of Sonic Rainboom and replaces them with the author's version of it), so if you are the kind of pony who cares about that I'd recommend you to avoid this one.

This one is a story that was nearing it's end at 25 chapters, but then it got a rewrite to "meet EqD standards", the rewrite isn't complete yet so we only have 10 chapters and the promise of whatever happened in the other 15 to be as good or better than what it used to be.

Though I never read the original so I'm just repeating what some people say in the comments.

I admit the main catch of this one has for me is the whole "love triangle" thing, I don't remember reading a lot about this kind of story and the ones I remember reading were stories that I'd rather forget about. (though now that I think about it, there was a good one starring Frederic)

Frankly, my opinion is that the first 10 chapters are rather bland, except for maybe the last ones that have Twilight starting to have second thoughts about everything and Rainbow (rightfully) reacting in a negative way about it.

I'm waiting for the love triangle to start and see where this goes.

There is something wrong about this one but I can't point what it is...

We have Derpy (ololololololololololololol) living her life as usual until she receives a letter from her older sister Daring asking for help in a new adventure... Sounds like fun? It isn't.

It turns out that Daring is a bitch... Yeah... Bitch... Not jerk, not boaster, not misdirected (okay, maybe that one)... But a full blown bitch who did nothing but ruin Derpy's life as well as her family's.

Here comes the list of Daring Doo's wonderful adventures:

- She abandoned her father in his deathbed to follow her dreams of being a famous writer
- She based the whole Daring Do series in her and Derpy's action but completely edited out the grey mare's actions to aggrandize her own image.
- She edited her name to Do (instead of Doo) which almost gave her mother a heart attack (remember that this happens a few days after Derpy's father died)
- She almost kills Derpy out of jealousy over a stallion.
- in the process of almost killing her sister she caused Derpy's eye condition which rendered her disabled for life.

Now, this isn't what's wrong with the story, it's nice to have some background and see a different portray of the daring mare, it's just that all this info is dumped in the place of the first 2 chapters that somehow bothers me, the other thing I don't feel it's quite there is how we get to know all of this while pretty much all the cast remains clueless about it (and Derpy makes a damn good job being as ambiguous and secretive as possible about it, almost to the point it annoys me... The fact that she decided to trust the CMC of all ponies with the story also bothers me a little).

There is also the whole Background Pony thing, referencing a story is all good and dandy with me but making it in such a way that Lyra's presence influences one of the developments of the story (Dash and Daring teaming up) bothers me a bit.

Also, I think he got Background Pony's timeline wrong... FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUU*incoherent nerdrage that can't be translated to avoid spoiling that other story*



Having said all of that, the story itself is good, the premise is interesting and I'd like to see how it plays out.

Treasure in the West: (Completed!)

Moar Daring Do!

The story is kind of good, but it falls short in some places, if anything, I'd read it because it's a nice mix of western with adventure... Like a team up between Clint Eastwood (well, not really, just picture your favorite western movie star) and Indiana Jones.

First of all, most of the actions that end up trying this 2 together were kind of lazy, it turns out that Braeburn happened to be in the middle of bank rob and saved an innocent old mare who was threatened... Well it turns out that old mare was in fact Daring Do going undercover for an even more complicated reason (she didn't want to be renown for the books that took some creative liberties), three years later she somehow runs into a situation where she needs some help, and for some unknow reason she though "Hey! I remember that guy who saved my life 3 years ago without knowing it was me! I should probably track him down and ask him for help in this crazy quest to uncover a supposed myth! Nothing can go wrong!"...

Braeburn has a more believable story, his orchard got hit with an unexpected heat wave (I thought that was going to be important for the story but it isn't) and now he is going through some financial troubles, it's in those days that he receives a visit from Applejack and a present from his father (forgot to tell you, it's his birthday), a rifle... He somehow discovers to have improbable aiming skills (later it's discovered to be something genetic... But I'm going to somehow blame all of it on pony magic) and soon after that he recieves Daring's visit. The mare asks him to participate in what could be the discovery of the century (which would give him a very very big monetary reward), he accepts and then both ponies go through this advanture.

The rest of the tale tilts between very good and me'h, there are some good western action and the promise for more of it (which doesn't happen), the whole reason Daring is such a recluse ("Most of the people close to me died, so I will never get close to anyone... Nothing can go wrong!"), a very big mystery behind a gigantic pyramid buried inside a silver mine (which never gets answered... sequel hook go!) and an interesting relationship development (with an ending that made me think of Casablanca, but don't take my opinion seriously since I never got to watch that movie).

It was good, it was interesting, it caught my interest for a while... But it's just not something that stands out.



Last minute addition: Forgot to mention, this one makes me look Daring Do and the Sapphire Stone in a whole new light.

The Writing on the Wall: (Oneshot)

This is a very interestng tale, get ready for some short yet effective chills.

Have you ever read the minific titled "The Cough"? This one works in a similar way.

Daring goes to a ruins site for an excavation with another group of ponies and discovers that the tomb has a really peculiar shape, not only that, inside of it just before a sealed door there is a message written in many languages.

While one of the archaeologists translates the message Daring decides to take a look behind the door, but somehow she stops before going inside... The next morning she awakes feeling sick, the group of explorers go ahead without her and we don't hear from them for a while.

After that in the plane the translator was supposed to arrive Ahuitzotl appears with a group of mercenaries (this story gets some extra cool points for showing him as an evil treasure hunter instead of lol evil overlord like the show did), it turns out they heard about the site and decided to "join the group" and see if there is anything valuable they can steal.

Just when the ponies were considering how to deal with the mythical villain one of the explorers who got inside the ruins that morning appears, with his body completely destroyed and dying soon after that.

It's in that moment when the translator appears from the plane and quickly proceeds to deliver the message:

You should not have come here.

This is not a place of honor. No great deed is commemorated here. Nothing of value is here.

What is here is dangerous and repulsive.

We considered ourselves a powerful culture. We harnessed the hidden fire, and used
it for our own purposes.

Then we saw the fire could burn within living things, unnoticed until it destroyed them.
And we were afraid.

We built great tombs to hold the fire for one hundred thousand years, after which it would
no longer kill.

If this place is opened, the fire will not be isolated from the world, and we will have
failed to protect you.

Leave this place and never come back.

...

The story ends with Ahuitzotl escaping from the place and the explorers discussing what to do with the ruins, but when they were doing that you see Daring suffering of the very same symptoms that the dead pony had asking for help...



Now you might be able to see where this story is similar to The Cough, it's short but it spends that short time hitting you with everything it has, not to mention that the ending is quite somber and open (we don't know what happens with the ponies that were left on the site, we don't know if whatever disease was killing Daring and the other ponies left with Ahuitzotl, we don't know what happens to Daring after those final words...)

But then there is something else, you read the story and think it's chilling at best... But then you read where the message comes from and what the hidden fire was all about...

This place is a message… and part of a system of messages… pay attention to it! Sending this message was important to us. We considered ourselves to be a powerful culture.

This place is not a place of honor…no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here… nothing valued is here.

What is here is dangerous and repulsive to us. This message is a warning about danger.

The danger is in a particular location… it increases toward a center… the center of danger is here… of a particular size and shape, and below us.

The danger is still present, in your time, as it was in ours.

The danger is to the body, and it can kill.

The form of the danger is an emanation of energy.

The danger is unleashed only if you substantially disturb this place physically. This place is best shunned and left uninhabited.

...



Of course, this also might mean the author took some creative liberties regarding that kind of poisoning, but it's still pretty intense in my opinion.

Well, this one is heading in a directon I didn't expect.

Celestia decided to do something reckless (at best) and plans to take the Shadow Stallion with her 2 friends, because she can't stand a single second of this world...

In the process, she is also disobeying what the cult told her, that it would be for the best if she went to Canterlot and studied about her heritage and responsibilities while she "waits" for the other 3 elements to appear.

As it looks now, this is only going to end in a fail of epic proportions, but we know the group survived that (hindsight, this story is all hindsight)!

Can't wait to see where it goes...

Annnd that's it for today! Next time we will be talking about humans, humans everywhere... Lunar republics, lunar mental institutes, wingboners and epic Rarity. (because buck yeah! Epic best pony is best epic!).

In my longest chapter yet, Discord, with the help of Celestia's magical energy, isolates Equestria and causes chaos throughout the country, turning it into Chaostria. During this, Eggman apologizes to Sonic for everything he's done and promises to turn over a new leaf. Tails doesn't believe this but Sonic and Applejack prove that his change is genuine. Meanwhile, the Doctor travels to Sonic's universe to get the Chaos Emeralds. In doing so, he ends up knocking out Knuckles, who had the Chaos Emeralds, so that journey ends pretty quick. Finally, Discord tells Celestia why he is the way he is and, in the process, finds out about one of Celestia's deepest secrets.

Just popping in to say I love the Party with Pinkie in Planet Wisp remix. KingSpartaX37 does it yet again, creating fantastic remixes. This is up there with Rarity's Tour in Hydrocity Zone, just so good. It's also made me like the original Party with Pinkie a bit more as well, but it's just an unusual track to combine with Planet Wisp, yet it works because he's a genius. Also incorporating SPIKES! in without making me think of the disappointment of Classic Planet Wisp in Generations is a plus.

I hope he does a Crisis City one eventually I bet he could find a way to combine Crisis City with some of the peppy pony songs or even Rarity ones as well considering how well he mixes everything in.
