I forgot how good Kingdom Valley was as Sonic. I found it the best stage of the game, and the Gems with how broken they are actually allows a crapload of replay value. Do you know how easy it is to get an S Rank using the Purple Gem to skip Silver's part? Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!

The mach speed section is probably the best looking thing in the game, and it probably has the best design out of them because Sonic's controls actually feel normal there, dunno why. But when I see that area, I could swear I'm looking at a PS3, HD game for once. It's music is also my favorite in the game by far. End Of The World gets an honorable mention in the music department. (And holy shit, the "All" Version is epic.)

I'm still disappointed Crisis City was chosen over it in Generations. It would have added another trope instead of adding on to the City one. Oh well...

I especially loved what the game did for the franchise. Reputation is still lost. :(

You're not implying '06 is the only game responsible for the bad reputation the series has, are you? Fans and critics alike will argue with you on that.

At least one third of this list is not relevant.

At least one third of this list is not relevant.

Every game on that list is was subject to at least one of the following: poor professional reception at time of release, poor fan reception at time of release or opinions of the game today are widely negative. SADX and Classic Collection are examples of two very poor and very lazy ports that while enjoyed are damaging to the series reputation. Unleashed (all versions) hit a bomb with critics. SatSR was liked at first but is now generally loathed. Many others don't warrant an explanation.

I think 4 of those are decent-great to be fair.

But it's true. Sonic 06 was just reassurance, the final nail in the coffin, the Grand Master of All Things Bad. It basically sucked the likeness of the entire franchise into a Black Hole.

It wasn't really until Unleashed that the likeness came back out, albeit it was a burned, jaded, small piece of likeness. But at least it was some.

Then Colors came, the likeness grew slowly and healed...and then Generations had it up and moving.

...I got lost with this.

Well~~~~ the things I loved from 06 is the first theme of Aquatic Base, Silver's theme, and Elise's model.

I think Elise is pretty, in an odd way, I really love her hair. Such a lovely shade of red~. It kinda reminds me of this pretty red-orange haired girl I know. :3

Oh and her dress! I like it as well. =w=

I want to love it... but there's so many factors that keep my from doing so.
The biggest one of all is probably Silver's little "Golf" segment in the Pyramid level.
The other things being the loading times, Glitchiness (which, at the time, I accepted them because the other 3D Sonics had odd glitches too ), and horribly programmed Amigo characters.

Wasn't a fan of the super realistic look of the humans either.

Aside from these factors, I really did enjoy the time I had playing the game.. I just don't think I could do it again... especially considering the fact that I no longer have an Xbox360, and my friend reports you can only use the D-pad to move.

Silver's gameplay is what keeps me coming back for more. Sure he's slower than the rest but his telepathic powers are so much fun to mess around with! Add the fact that he isn't as heavy on the gimmicks as the other hedgies makes me a happy coral spudtoast. Then I feel like reliving Sonic's stages again and promptly feel the burn of glitches and what have you.

My fave stage would have been Sonic's White Acropolis but then there's the annoying board controls and the weird jumping mechanic. Crisis City is epic and fiery and terrifying... for all the wrong reasons. Getting stuck bouncing on a spring, board... controls..., being reminded that the whole city is on fire, grinding into oblivion and tornadoes carrying cars and throwing them at me like a jerk eventually make me turn the game off and bury it for a few days. ^^;

Sigh.

There are so, SO many things about Sonic 2006 that I should hate. Sonic's story admittedly pretty much consists of tossing Elise back and forth with Eggman.

Oh hey, I just realized that if you replace Elise with a football you get "The Room".

It was the last Sonic game where, well, I can't say you were really "In Control" of Sonic, but it was the last one where forward movement was not all but a forgone conclusion with only the circumstance and pass/fail varying. So there's that. Well, except for the mach speed sections where you breakdance to death.

Too bad Sonic wasn't fun to move around.

I find hilarious that people call SU a bad game for having the boring Werehog levels (which make up 1/2 of the game), but forgive SA2 for having the mediocre treasure hunting and shooting stages (which make up 2/3 of the game), and overlook the fact that only 3 out of Sonic 2's 10-11 Zones (EHZ, CPZ and CNZ) were truly speedy and fun, with the rest of them being slow, boring, and featuring mediocre level design. Double standards much?

Not really, no. Things that were excusable in 2001 aren't automatically just as excusable in 2008.

At the time, Sonic's reputation wasn't ruined, games like Unleashed, ShTH, etc, ruined Sonic's image, which is what Blue Blood was talking about. Most of the time, people don't really forgive SA2 when it comes to its shooting and hunting stages.

Perhaps it's because some people don't like the Sonic gameplay in Unleashed either? Myself included. Also, I don't forgive them for the hunting and shooting stages in SA2.

How come Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic 4 Episode 1 is on that list?

Bollocks. Taking a series that is known for speed and producing a game in which the speed-based stages make up only 30% of the it wasn't any more excusable back then than it is now. People just weren't as whiny as they're now.

Perhaps it's because some people don't like the Sonic gameplay in Unleashed either? Myself included.

Your opinion isn't the majority, since most of the critics praised the hedgehog gameplay, and the main source of criticism was the Werehog gameplay. And I found the Hedgehog gameplay to be VASTLY superior to SA2's Sonic/Shadow gameplay, which was too slow by Sonic standards and featured boring and simplistic stages.

Well I don't really know if I posted here before, but I'll do it again.

I can not emphasis this enough. There is really NOTHING good about this game. Unlike most people, I don't even like the music. I mean, even most bad Sonic games have good music. This one? Nope :V

I guess the opening cutscene is alright though now that I think about it. It's kinda-sorta epic...

That's not really saying much cause most of those critics still lables Unleashed as a bad game or treats it like it's as bad as Sonic 06.
