Hmmm curious, it does beg to ask the question what are they up to?

On the note of SOR and Golden Axe, With what is happening with CoI, perhaps SEGA is considering doing a remastering of some of their clasic IPs? that could be interesting

Looks like Sega's got something huge in store this year.

Let's hope it lives up to the hype us fans have generated for it through our impatience.

...it probably won't but it'll probably be a pretty solid game

Ah yes SEGA, advertise the next big thing for Sonic in a licencing magazine and not places where the fans will see it.......oh well, hyped regardless. Hopefully it's another improvement over the previous game, like how Colours was an improvement over Unleashed and how Generation's 3d gameplay was an improvement over Colour's gameplay.

No but investors and people who will be paying Sega obscene ammounts of money so they can put Sonic's image on their toot and sell it for a lot of money will see it.

This advert is specifically designed to advertise Sonic as a brand which will make people money. It's not to advertise a new game.

However, whats significant is that this is the first time Sega has done this in over a year. Suggesting that Sega have intentions to push Sonic as a brand in 2013... my question, why would they do this unless they had a major game planned, much like they did in 2011 with Sonic Generations?

Wait a second, is that ad saying "still unstoppable", or "Still UN Stoppable" XD sorry, couldnt resist. seriously though, what if Sega did decide to do some 3D remasters of some classic IPs like Streets of Rage, or Golden Axe, I imagine it wouldnt be impossible for them to do it....

Probably bigger than Generations.

My hope is that Generations was merely a stop-gap for the 20th Anniversary. I want some magnificence, but I'm not sure we'll get something of legendary quality.

And more playable characters besides Sonic pls!

From the looks of things, we might not get anything Sonic-related until E3 or even TGS. Who knows! It seems that SEGA are working really hard on this one though.

I'll settle with ANYTHING fully original at this moment really. It's been almost 3 years now. All new zones, music and gimmicks really excite me.

Some New gameplay types would be nice too, its been a long time since we have had a parallel levels with a different character

Don't want to deviate to far from the main playstyle though, we don't want the same problems the Adventure Era had with it's genre roulette.

Not sure if this is old but... I've found something potentially amazing, only... theres a problem... well.. heres the problem.

If you go to this licensing website. The above image appears in it's slider bar... BUT I CAN'T FIND A LARGER VERSION!

You need a trade account to access that website.... so I doubt anyone here has one.

So if we get into this then it'll likely be merchandise news?

Yes it will... but will that merchandise be based on pre-existing games/assests... or unannounced ones?

I just tried to use my TSS email to get access to the guide.

In order to get access to just that one image. There is a fee of £120 to pay.. ... Nope. Nope Nope.

I refuse to generate any sort of hype until we get some concrete shit this time.

SEGA Europe staff did say earlier this month that they're planning exciting things for Sonic as a brand in the near future, too.

Can't wait to see what's in store. That Sonic artwork looks new, and they actually have a good smile on it XD

I'll echo what others have said. It definitely looks like they've got something big planned if they're going out of their way trying to find more people to license products for them. SEGA's already enormously expanded its merchandise the last year, so if they're trying to expand it even further...

Whatever's next, I'm inclined to think it's supposed to blow everything in the last 20 years away. Probably won't be able to do that entirely, but whatever it is will certainly be big, given how much effort they're putting into their advertising efforts. They wouldn't be stepping up merchandising if they weren't sure their actual product will do well. We've been told to raise our expectations, after all.

I mean, great as Generations was, despite all the hype it sold relatively poorly (compared to prior titles and given the timeframe, that is) didn't it? I think they're trying to prevent that again.

I thought it was the Sonic Dash image at first just reversed. But it's not, theres some very subtle differences. Not sure where it's from.
