The Lara-Su Chronicles and Ken Penders topic - READ PAGE 164, POST 4096

I think Foodfight is a little over Pen's possibilities. Seeing how futuristic he is, the 3D renders he has shown and how he usually does things, I personally imagine Lara-Su animation being stuck in the early 90's CGI (Like the one you see in his Lost Ones trailer). Although I feel that Penders would steal as many lines from other places as Foodfight does.

I believe it would look more like a really bad version of Donkey Kong Country's show, although maybe not as unintentionally funny, or without those awesome and cheesy songs (DK had a great singing voice, doe). I hope for the good of mankind it also fails to deliver the shower of coconut cream pies.

That said, I really want to see the episode where Fuckles (Or Mykhal Taelor) does this to save the day:

Luster Kind of talks like Vector under Ken's pen. Only much more cooler. I mean, at least Luster doesn't say "Since you don't like my rap, why not grab a nap?".

...Man, what I would give for 90's Hip Thunder Super Powers...

Oh man, I don't think they've been animated yet, but I can scarcely imagine what that would look like.

Well, I was more talking about this. Maybe "animated" wasn't the best word to use?

I feel like calling them "The Three Stooges" is kind of mean. Did any of the other two do anything wrong aside from just siding with Penders? Does that automatically make them evil?

Dude it was a joke because of the fact the two of them are apparently going after Archie, and Penders has joined them.

Anyone else see Ol' Kenny guessing Archie is selling the company?  Kind of doubt it really, since this is a man known for scaremongering Sonic fans.  Especially when the guess is from someone who A ) has a lot of beef with Archie and B ) Hasn't had anything to do with Archie Comics' business since 2006 (except making them create the reboot).

I petition that, whenever Penders gives us another fake scare just to stir up trouble, someone post this image:

I confirm I've seen work on the third page of "The Storm". He sent me the unfinished version for translation purpose.

On a scale of "Well, at least he tried" to "I don't want to live on this planet anymore", how bad is it?

Story-wise, not bad I think. Art wise, I think his pure lineart looks better non coloured. (Most panels on that page are just lineart)

Forgot to mention there's a character whom I think is his new Remington, though his name isn't mentioned (yet). Did I mention that page 2 starts the "new style" ? On page 1 you saw Geoffrey and the dog lady in his "old style" I'd say.

Well I mean my style changes about once a year and that's about the amount of time between him drawing each page of this thing so

I strongly agree that his lineart looks way better than the colored, simply because his coloring and shading is so atrocious. Even if his pencils were great, the coloring would take them down a major peg...

Changing art styles and character designs from one page to another...yeah, I'm sure that's not confusing at all.

Ah, art inconsistencies. wouldn't be a Penders comic without them!

Don't jump to conclusions, I never said it's an inconstancy. Let's say something happens.

Well that's...interesting.

Does this mean that Ken Penders is actually trying to explain why the character designs have changed?

If true, that means that he's still trying to connect it back to the Sonic comics...ugh.

My guess it'll involve the "time ripples" he's mentioned before and picking up when King Sonic went back in time, to explain the shift.

I would like an explanation that breaks the fourth wall...but knowing Penders, if that were the case, it'd be a lazy way to not fix things that really should have been fixed.

Shame, really,,,

Oh god, please don't tell me that the change in art direction is going to be a plot point or something...

*Thinks of Lien-Diva-isnous and Mykhals ever-changing faces and Lara-Su looking like an old lady*

This might be even more interesting than I thought.

I see Ken is on about Chronicles again on his Twitter. Maybe I missed something somewhere along the lines, but didn't Ken originally say that he didn't even realize Chronicles existed until a "concerned" fan brought it up with him on his forum, and pointed out all the supposed similarities to his comic work? If I'm remembering that right, then where did this current idea of his that he was personally contacted to be on the team making said game come from?

How can you be oblivious to its existence, but also have been previously invited to work on it and be told that it was going to use assets inspired by the comics at the same time?!

It's Penders Tenko.  When has the man ever gotten a story straight?  Not in the comics he's worked on that's damn sure.

Shots. They've been fired.

You know... I would love to ask him if I had an account there. Seriously. He just got himself cornered and only his own mouth (Well, technically, his fingers) is to blame.

Why on earth would he say something like that when it can bite his own ass so easily. Is there yet a possibility that Ken Penders is just a master troll or something?

He also talked about "Sonic Begins" a supposed movie attempt. Is this the same as that Sonic Armageddon (or something like that) pitch?

He actually said this word-for-word a few months ago, and I brought it up then, too. The general consensus was that most seem to remember he didn't know until after the fact. The funny thing is, I'm having a hard time finding the exact post where he stated such. I found one close that suggested he was approached by fans who asked about his involvement and he seemed "startled" by the similarities, but not the one where he outright denied being approached in the first place.

I dunno, it's just as likely he's not being consistent because it'd be inconvenient for him every time he's called out on it.

Wasn't that kind of Archies gimmick back when Penders worked on the comic, I seem to recall the comics having the worst art inconsistencies for nearly a decade in a row with even characters changing shapes between panels.

Revive it globally? Is he fucking mad? First off, Archie's exclusive to the USA and the only way to get it in the UK and other countries is tracking down a specialist comic book shop that imports comics like Forbidden Planet.

What would making a movie based on a comic only known in the USA possibly do about reviving the series globally?

That said, Sonic doesn't even fucking need revived. It's as strong as ever. Boom is confirmed for a Second season, it's worked miracles for its ratings despite being in the extremely early morning slot in the USA.

It's currently extremely popular in the UK, with the latest set of episodes even receiving it's own separate set of recap promos which recapped the previous day's episode, meaning about 14 promos was created. Boom's also aired at least 2 or 3 times a day, and rose to Number 1 in Boomerang's ratings.

That's not even mentioning the Sonic Twitter's new found popularity because of Aaron Webber, the fact Runners has around 4 or 5 million downloads at this point, the comic managed to have two surviving Sonic series despite Archie's cutbacks this year and the fact next year is bringing two Sonic games, along with one of them being the 25th anniversary game, and suddenly Sonic is doing as strong as ever.

You know, for someone who claims to be a great business man, he doesn't really bother to look into the shit he's speaking.
