Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014 Reboot)

A teaser snippet for the new Michael Bay produced TMNT reboot was shown on The Today Show. A full trailer has been rated and is expected to land later on today. The movie itself is slated to release August 8.

Mixed feelings about the looks of this. The Turtles look like they animate really well and the levity is there, but the action has way too much flair in it. Not very TMNT-like. Also, the subplot of April's dad working with Shredder to create the Turtles sounds haphazard and the characters look a bit too overdesigned.

This is, what, the 5th time the plot of TMNT has been fucked around with?

The models look terrible to me, but w/e

Sorry I just can't like this....The exaggerated action, April being played by Megan Fox, the look of the turtles....it just seems really off.

Also the turtles are ninjas, not heroes. Even if in some places the were called heroes, bleh.

I think I will stick with the show, and try to forget this movie.

So they finally released a trailer?

*Watches trailer*

...Nope. Sorry. Still not interested. Megan Fox still does no favors for me as April and the Turtles still look awkward as hell.

It also just seems supremely late for them to show a trailer off for a movie that's coming later this fall when compared to say, Godzilla's marketing, though that might be a poor example. But still, they just took too damn long to actually show off something of this movie (that wasn't leaked, mind you like the Turtle's designs from a way's back) for me to even care about it's existence or muster hype at all.

I thought we were past the times when old cartoons would become shitty live action films. This looks horrible. The turtles look really ugly, the action looks like it's trying to hard to be like, Iron Man or something and April is played by Megan Fox?? And the whole live action approach looks very unappealing to me. It seriously looks as if someone took the action of the Marvel films, some random Hollywood actors, the turtles, put everything into a blender and this was the result. I'll just stick to the Nickelodeon cartoon if that's okay with everybody.

that's quite honestly disturbing, the turtles themselves, the animation is great and their bodies seem normal, but Gawd those faces. I'd been really creeped out if I was a kid. I don't really mind Megan Fox, the action looks good, but dat face ruined it for me xD

Bolded for emphasis. Why do the two have to be mutually exclusive? From what I can tell, they usually go hand in hand. Unless you meant superheroes, in which case that can still be debated.

I said this because the movie appears to imply a super hero kind of movie.

I don't really want to say they are not heroes in some way, but they should work in the shadows.

I guess I should have said that in a different way, its just this movie makes me so angry....

Megan Fox? Shit, I'm honestly beginning to sympathize with the Blockbuster Buster for putting this on his blacklist.

This trailer met my expectations of "meh" I felt toward this movie while it was still in development. I don't even feel any kind of fanboy outrage because I just expected shit like this after their initial plan to make them freakin' aliens (which appears to have been largely abandoned). It's just "Fred Wolf TMNT the Movie." Based on what's been leaked in the past and the new trailer, I think Megan Fox is the least of this movie's problems, but then I don't have a massive hate-on for her (I just don't care).

Oh well, when May rolls around, I'll be seeing Godzilla anyway. *goes back to reading IDW comics*

Eh, I don't actually care about Megan Fox being in this movie. Wooden as her acting could be, she's still going to be dubbed over by (hopefully) a more capable voice actress, here in Italy. I'm not a fan of this "Heroes" thing, though.

Just watched the trailer, and it was underwhelming.

I'll still watch the film, but I won't expect a masterpiece.

I admit it looks like fun.

But, I don't like that the Turtles are created by the Shredder and April's dad in this movie, that just isn't right. I also don't like how the Shredder isn't Japanese or at least played by an actor of Asian descent.

The Turtles still look ugly to me. Definitely gonna take some getting used to.

Megan Fox as April? I Can't argue with that.

Ohhhhhh myyyyy Goooood those are the creepiest Turtles I've ever seen! That's Uncanny Valley material right there. Sorry, not going to see this now.

Not really liking this, looks like a lot of folks don't like the new look of the turtles or are middle of the road. It might do well at the box office but tbh I don't see it doing well at all, I won't be seeing it

....What did they do to their faces? They look horrible! Plus the Turtles being created by April and Shredder's Dad? What's up with that? I'm not liking the looks of this at all.

Meh; it looks standard action movie fare. The turtles look ugly sure, but hey; they're trying to go for that edgy realism vibe. So I don't give a damn.

From what I've seen, the director was the man who did Battle LA who pretty much is like Michael Bay, but with even more shaky cam. They're a match made in hell for sure.

I wonder if this film will have more huge focus on the military again? Knowing the director and producer, it will literally plaster half of the film with love for the American military.

Oh rule 34 is gonna have a field day with this.

Rule 34 has done far, far worse with the Turtles already. Trust me. *shudder*

Lol why are they trying to go for a Transformers-like feel for the trailer, especially considering that we are getting Age of Extinction later this year? Not really interested in this, I'm just curious on whether it will be received more positively then TMNT III or not.

Oh rule 34 is gonna have a field day with this.

You have a female human becoming a recurring ally of four humanoid turtles in both the original comic and practically every adaptation of it. With most of them featuring her in a jumpsuit.

Rule 34 was going to show up no matter what the medium was. :U

I showed the trailer to my mom and sister, they're reactions were pretty funny. My sister just cried, "eeeeeewww!" and, "Why are they so big?!"  when she saw Leo and Mikey and my mom just asked me why they made them so ugly xD

By the way, my mom surprised me today when we were talking about TMNT she told my sister that she'd watch the old movies with my brother and I and she was able to name April and her actress without thinking about it.

I saw these fan edits on NeoGaf:

Gotta say, I prefer both to the way Shrek actually looks. They're not perfect, but definitely an improvement..

Then there's this:

Haha.

Oh, an another official image:

They all look really bad besides Leo, though his right eye looks kind of weird. It looks almost like he's winking. They all look way too old to be called teenagers, too tongue.png

As for my opinion on the trailer, I thought it was OK. Nothing really stuck out positively besides the mask joke at the end. The turtles seem to animate very nicely, too.

Shredder talks weird and I don't like that they made him an American. I don't have any strong opinions on Megan Fox, besides that she wouldn't be my first choice for April. The turtles seem too heavy. When they landed you could hear the ground cracking under them, which seems a bit unfortunate  for ninjas xP I also don't like that the Foot is just an army instead of ninjas.

The most annoying thing about the trailer, though was that the Turtles themselves weren't in it enough.
