There is actually a pokedex inside the app and you can find pokemon throughout the maps. But the video above is a total joke.

The best April Fools' joke is not but a mere prank, but a prank that would get people legitimately hyped if it were real.

The time has come to go fake someone winning the lottery...

Honestly, I would've been stoked if Google had made this happen using some kind of geocaches (that's what they're called, right?) that you have to use google maps to check in near. It's within their capabilities. That would have been awesome, but as it stands, this is just a funny video.

 

Still pretty cool though.

Pokemon are all around Google Maps, MAN

The Pokemon video DOES make me concerned for catching Water types, though.

The Sea God would eagerly accept all the silicon sacrifices offered unto it by man's attempt to fish for imaginary sea creatures.

It looks like google has another, smaller, April Fool's day joke in gmail.

 

Apparently there's "shelfies" that are apparently "shareable selfies" that you can set as your gmail background.
