Sonic Adventure LCD Game

I've always been in love with Adventure 1 and collect anything based off it, and I've recently come upon an LCD game that seems to be a bit more advanced than Tiger's earlier games. It apparently features all the levels from the game and a very decent screen....

Does anyone have any info on this game? I know it's shaped like an arcade machine and was released by Tiger in 2000, but what does it play like?

Do you mean this?  0.o

If this is the one you're referring to, it's just called "Sonic Adventure LCD game". I've never played it so I'm probably not much help at all. I did find a video where someone demonstrates the gameplay a little (you have to skip a bit- he plays it towards the middle-end).

Hmm, that gameplay is of the Sonic 1 LCD game... I can't seem to find any of this particular game. The interesting thing about this game is, it seems to have a much better screen and even a title screen... I may have to snag this and share some gameplay!

...That's a completely different game.

That's the one, yes.

It's incredibly rare. I saw it in a K-mart store back in 2000 ... man, I wish I had gotten it back then.

...but I was ten and didn't have any money. Hrmph.

So no one has any information on how it plays? Hmm... I'm gonna have to check this out.

This has to be one of the rarest Sonic "games" out there. I haven't found one video, or picture of the gameplay. I am sure there are some people on this forum who own one?

Yeah, I see that I copied the wrong video title. I'll try to go back and find the correct one.

Edit: So I checked my Youtube history, and the original video I was looking at was the Sonic Heroes one. Just know that I'm completely unreliable at 3AM in the morning, haha.  ^^;

So this just in, I should have the unit in my hands by the end of next week. Consider this mystery almost busted biggrin.png

Oh, and just to raise even more questions, the game must be pretty detailed, if it has a title screen :P

Maybe this is more then meets the eye?

Oh dear... I spy a Tiger Electronics logo.

And my favourite part so far is how the screen is off centre.

Higher-res:

And I even managed to recreate the logo in native-res! Spoiler alert: It's TINY!

Or if you wish, a version with the default blue color option in Paint.NET, where the above was trying to get it accurate, but you never know due to the lighting and whatnot of the camera and screen:

Nice work with that! And I agree, it really does look like a VMU screen! Which admittedly would be good since it's better then an average Tiger game :P

Don't even wanna talk about what I paid until I can back it up with decent gameplay :P

I have it. Basically it plays like a runner game. The levels scroll and there are occasional jumps to be made, rings to pick up and enemies to attack.

After each level there's a boss level which are actuallly pretty cool. You fight chaos, knuckles eggman...maybe more, not played it for a while, can't really remember.

The game even has cheats. There's a password screen, putting in "rings" gives you full rings from the begginng, "Lives" gives full lives and "boss" puts you into a boss rush mode which is how I always used to play it.

If anyone's interested,  I could try to get some footage of it, it still works as best I know...it's not a great game by any means, but it's pretty cool for an lcd game.

Oh nice, sounds interesting! I'd love to see!

Woah. This is.. actually, pretty interesting. Up until now I had never even heard of an LCD game based on Sonic Adventure.

I second the request for footage. This oughta be good.

Ok so good news. Gave my copy some new batteries and it works!!

I'll try to get some footage recorded, hopefully my camera can pick up the LCD screen well enough. It's a pretty cool game, for LCD standards anyway, definitly more advanced than any other LCD game I've played.

As for the "actual game sound effects"....IT HAS THEM! Pretty knarled up, low quality versions of them, but the jump, ring and spring sounds are all there.

Oh wow, now I'll finally get to see how it plays. Is it a 2D platformer, I take it? Is it better than Sonic Jam on the game.com?

Hoping for there to be music in an LCD game is dreaming pretty high... if it does have music, I'd imagine it'd be poorly done MIDIs of the songs we know and love stripped down to like 10 second loops, sadly.

Also, it's seven levels from the game, not all eleven (thirteen if you count Sky Chase and Sand Hill):

Emerald Coast

Windy Valley

Ice Cap

Speed Highway

Red Mountain

Sky Deck

Final Egg

Casinopolis, Twinkle Park, Lost World and Hot Shelter all appear to be absent.

That's still a pretty impressive amount of levels crammed in for a Tiger LCD game...
