Kirby & The Amazing Series (Kirby franchise)

So hey, you care about my opinion right? No? Too bad, because recently I started downloading some old Kirby games off the VC and trying them out. You already know where this is going, I think Kirby is one of the comfiest, cutest, and enjoyable franchises out there. Searched up and there wasn't a general Kirby topic, so here we go.

For the couple of you that aren't informed, this little cute thing

is the most powerful and destructive Nintendo character in all of its universes. This cute little guy's got the power to fly and inhale enemies and eat them. By doing so, he gains their powers and uses them against evil forces in his journey to keep Dream Land safe from harm.

Along the way he's got a multitude of enemies to fight,

And food to eat!

(Please do not attempt to steal Kirby's food)

Debuting in Kirby's Dream Land (GB), the young puffball didn't gain his iconic inhale ability until Kirby's Adventure (NES). Ever since then, he's released high quality titles on almost every Nintendo Platform to date, with the latest platformer being Kirby Triple Deluxe (3DS) and recent spinoff Kirby & The Rainbow Curse (Wii-U).

(There's also a 25th Anniversary Collection available for the Wii that contains most of the major Kirby games released back in the day, if that tickles your fancy)

Starting way back in the early 90's, Kirby has always entertained players with its cute charm, enjoyable gameplay, and cast of characters. "Kirby is way too easy and for kids!" You might say? Then put your money where your mouth is in the True Arena! "I think I'm too old for Kirby..." Bullocks! Kirby is a franchise to be enjoyed by all ages!

So c'mon then. Post your thoughts below on the Kirby series and talk about this cute ball of mass destruction!

Or discuss why the incredibly dashing and handsome King Dedede, the mysterious Metaknight, or the loveable Waddle Dee is your favorite Character. Better be King Dedede...

Now post. Or lurk.

Kirby is probably my favorite Nintendo franchise, and one of my favorite video game series in general. I love almost everything about it, the light and innocent atmosphere, the characters, the simply yet engaging and fun gameplay across the entire series, and of course up to standards with any Nintendo series: the absolutely fucking phenomenal music. I first got into the series through watching Kirby: Right Back at Ya on 4Kids while I was young, and the rest is history. I still love the hell out of that show too, one of the many reasons being the brilliant depiction of King Dedede in it. If I had to name a favorite of all the Kirby games I've played so far, it'd have to be Kirby 64. Air Ride was my first Kirby game and also made up a chunk of my childhood, so I adore that one too. I've been wanting to marathon the entire main series for a good while, and I still need to opportunity to play some games such as Super Star, Return to Dreamland and Triple Deluxe.

Also planning to buy Rainbow Curse once I have the money, I've never played Canvas Curse but Rainbow has an amazing art style and the game looks like something I'd really enjoy either way.

I got into the series relatively late (literally during the road to Triple Deluxe's release) and wanted a new platformer to play.

That immediately got me hooked into the whole series.

It has a charm that I can't look away from; while playing Triple Deluxe it got me hooked in its platforming mechanics, vibrant visuals and wonderful music. The story was something I was surprisingly into; especially when playing through The Arena, Dedede's Tour and The True Arena.

Then I started watching gameplay of Return to Dreamland...and it solidified Kirby as one of my favorite game series. After that I tried to get what games I could within the possibility. Picked up Squeak Squad and Super Star Ultra (mainly because I saw  videos of Kirby bosses and Marx Soul really got my attention for some reason) and wanted to see if I can get to that point. I didn't yet... Also brought the 3D Classics version of Kirby's Adventure on the 3DS, played Nightmare in Dreamland and a bit of DL3 via emulation.

So yeah, I'm perfectly content with how snug Kirby fit into a video game series that I enjoy.
