To paraphrase what PSP says, basically, a new machine is having a kickstarter to make indie games on cartridges this summer. People have wanted a return of cartridges for consoles for a while and now that time is drawing ever closer since the days of the N64 dying!

This brings me great joy, anyone else?

Funny thing about their choice of molds: The Atari Jaguar molds are still around because after the jaguar floundered the molds were picked up by a company making dental X ray machines, they used the mold for them, and used the cartridge mold to store the X rays as well.  Was so much a choice as it was convenient.

They either severely underestimate the cost of mass-producing cartridges or are going to set the kickstarter goal unreasonably high.

Either way I can't see this taking off.

There's a reason why we ditched cartridges.

Nostalgia value doesn't magically make them cheaper to produce or give them more space.

Do 3DS carts not count for some reason? Serious question.

3DS and Vita use carts because portible opticle media is flat-out fucking garbage. They have no other choice without driving the cost of handheld up and gaining nothing but loss in performance and more repairs/failures.

Nintendo and Sony are large companies. They can afford mass production. A Kickstarter campaign can't.
