(Due to the older topic being really outdated and is basically underneath a million other topics, I decided to start a new one)

Nah, it was made around when the game first got announced in 2011. Due to the wipe, some of the information of the 2015 game got lost. The topic is already outdated and buried as it is so I decided to do a new topic to make it more easier to find.

Hm. I'm currently keeping my hopes low right now, and the way the game controls seem messy. And I spy possible RPG elements.

I think it looks really nice, especially the NiGHTS influences. I only hope it'll look better graphically when it comes out because it looks a bit muddy and dated atm.

Well, considering the game is coming out in Japan in two days, I think the graphics is going to stay that way.

Based on the trailer, it doesn't wow me, but it may be a fun game to play. The graphics do look rather dated.

Yea, It really annoying how much the game took a hit on the Wii U. It's like they just used the 3DS as base!

Wii

Wii U:

They basically took the Wii version and just removed all the color to it. Everything now look all muddy and unappealing.

Next time Discoid says something about HD not being brown I'll showcase him this game. :P

I'm interested in the story and characters at least, seems to be spun in the same sort of idea as Skies of Arcadia with the air ships and emphasis on floating land masses.

Rodea: The Sky Soldier dated for NA, EU

Apr 02, 2015 by RawmeatCowboy

Rodea the Sky Soldier will launch for Wii U and 3DS in North America on September 22nd and in Europe on September 25th.

About

1,000 years ago, Emperor Geardo of the Naga Empire sent an army of machine soldiers to invade the sky kingdom of Garuda. Thanks to the efforts of Princess Cecilia and Rodea, a machine soldier who promised to protect Garuda, Emperor Geardo’s assault was thwarted.

In present day, a spirited inventor named Ion discovers an abandoned robot that has fallen into disrepair in the heart of a scorching desert. Upon completing her repairs, the robot stirs to life and reveals itself to be none other than Rodea. Stunned to find himself in the future, Rodea learns that the Naga Empire is no more and that Garuda has known peace for 1,000 years.

But this peace was not meant to last, for the forces of Naga have returned to wage war against Garuda. Remembering the promise he made 1,000 years ago, Rodea takes to the skies to defend Garuda from the Naga Empire once again.

Key Features

Touch the Sky – Complete each mission by traversing the aerial kingdom of Garuda while solving puzzles and demolishing enemies! Upgrade your flight capabilities and take full control

of the air to discover secrets of the past and hints of the future.

Delightful Tinkering – Explore each level and shatter enemies to collect Gears and Gravitons which Ion can use in her workshop to upgrade Rodea with new abilities and weapons, from upgrading his stats (such as health, attack damange, and speed) to powerful machine guns.

Colossal Battles – Engage in battles on an epic scale as you combat the massive automatons of the Naga army. Dodge and weave in acrobatic combat as you evade the behemoths’ attacks and locate their weaknesses.

Endless Hours of Fun – Replay your favorite levels to better your time and uncover numerous hidden objectives and items. Upgrade your gear to set new speed records and increase your score.

Gameplay of the Wii version finally surfaced!

It pretty funny how the Wii version has way better graphics lol. The gameplay look more fun to me personally, but the camera seem to be a big problem.

EDIT: Here's better gameplay.

So a special edition is happening

rodea_wiiu_collection_nf_1.jpg

Includes...

  • The game (either Wii U or 3DS version)
  • Hardcover art book
  • 10-track OST in a jewel case
  • Collectors box
  • "Key of Time" pendant and chain

When a game gets a special edition like this I can't help but think the publisher has a lot of faith in it and believes it's genuinely a good game. I'd like to buy it. Gonna need to gauge the Japanese reception first though and watch more footage, cause in still so totally unsure of it.

I definitely want this game but as I don't own a Wii U currently I'll pick it up for the original Wii version (assuming it's on a separate disc).

Really looking forward to playing it especially as the Wii version still looks excellent and arguably better :o
