Your Favourite Eggman's sidekicks

hello guys!

i start this topic for nothing more than curiosity and leisure...

the_1st_annual_eggman_robotnik_parade_of

as you know Dr. Eggman or Robotnik; as you prefer to make reference to him, has been companied by a few of different  "Sidekicks"  along the different Sonic Medias through the years..  with the reason to give him some "minions" and to not let him be so alone at the series XD but you catch the idea ....

so.. my cuestion here for you...

whose are your favourite Robotnik Sidekicks?

and you can say wich one you like less etc etc ..

my favourites are:

Scratch and grounder... Grounder sometimes looks cute to me  haha  and Scratch.. i liked how noisy he was  and i liked how he tried to always look superior to Grounder and so eachother

Cubot and Orbot .. they have been very nice sidekicks to eggman.. even when they sometimes seem to not agree with his boss but that makes them a good companion and specially when Eggman seems to be kinda alone...

and well... at first i didn't like too much Snively..  i didn't know him until i saw the comics.. still at least for me, he used to be like a "golum" :D haha  but...

i only started to like him when he got inlove with the "Iron Queen"; Regina Ferrum...  and when he fought Eggman to be free ... though the part when he tries to scape with Hope wasn't really nice to me.. because of the part when he tell her his crazy evil plans ...but it was nice to see him fighting to Eggman like that.. and it was so sad to see how he ended after Eggman defeated him did to him ...

its nice to see him now at the comics with a beard  ^_^

I never got into much else, so the only ones I really like are Snivley, Orbot and Cubot. I like Snivley's weasleness, and Orbot and Cubot as the lazy employees.

I really like the fight between Sniv's and Eggman in the comic. Eggman slapping him around and locking him up. I also find Sniv's design as a human rather matching up to Eggy. That's probably just me though.

The majority of Robotnik's sidekicks tend to be robots, and I think Orbot and Cubot work well there. I could kinda see Orbot and Cubot as the doc's personal assistants and Snivley as a high ranking commander, of sorts.

Gonna have to vote Scratch & Grounder. Funniest sidekicks hands down, and overall the ones I've liked the most from any canon.

Also SA-55. Which is just Orbot, but the monotone voice, black/white/red/purple-pink color scheme and his emphasis on bothering Eggman makes him infinitely better than Orbot, to me.

Ha, my most disliked didn't make it: Deco and Boco.  Sonic X made a mistake, and years later, when i found out that Deco and Boco were reused I found out why.  They bare that shame along with the X tornado and all the other terrible mech design from that show, most of which was either reused from a previous show (which had been lifted from other shows already, look at the X tornado and then look at a VF-1 Valkyrie) or just knocked off outright.  Remember than time Eggman sicked Mazinger Z on Sonic?

BTW, background: When they first needed to take the tornado into space, Tails makes a comment making me think they were going to bolt on the Sonic 2 rocket booster onto it.  That's not what they did.

Anyway, really depends a lot on what sort of Eggman we're talking about.  Scratch and Grounder might not be the best sidekicks per se, but they were the right ones for the job of flanking AoStH's Ivo Robotnik.

I get the impression that Robotnik was trying to be a serious villain in the originals, but he kept exploding.  I can't help but think Metal Sonic's, well, silence worked with that image he was trying to project.  I prefer him not to have a real one, as they invariably end up acting like a foil even though it would seem that Sonic should be his foil.

Decoe, Docoe and Bokkun - Well, Sonic X is my chlidhood after all, so how could I not put them here? Plus, while everyone's saying that Bokkun is annoying, I find him cute xP

Orbot and Cubot - I just loooove their personalities and voices. Orbot as smartass who always knows better and Cubot as a goofy comic relief is just something I really like ^^

Snively - I've tried... but I seriously can't like him. Something about him just seems odd to me. Dunno.

When it comes to Grounder, Scratch and Coconuts I can't really say if I like them or not because I've never actually watched AoStH... but from what I've seen in the comics, I kinda do.

I'd say my faves are probably Scratch, Grounder and Coconuts, just because I'm a massive AoStH fan and I find them really funny, even if the humour is almost always the same thing (lol, their trap backfired on them, didn't see that coming)

Sleet and dingo are pretty interesting, just from a design perspective. Sleet's armour is so over complicated and dingo...well, if he wasn't called Dingo you'd have no idea what he was supposed to be. There's just so many questions. Why does Dingo have a robot leg? Why can he transform? Why is Sleet Peter Lorre?

But hey, they had some funny moments and despite thier oddness, I still like their designs.

But what about....Grimer

Grimer_%28STC143%29.jpg

Madscientist labcoat and hair, that weird backpack that does....something or other....his lovely bowtie. His design is just awesome and I always loved him in STC. (Fuck knows what he's supposed to be though).

He never really got much chance to be fleshed out fromwhat I can remember, but he did rebel once or twice and he was always memorable.

Eggrobos. So many henchmen have come before (Swatbots, The SSSSSS, Snively, Grimer) and since (the OAV guard robots, Sleet, Dingo, Egg Pawns, Decoe, Docoe, Bokkun, Orbot and Cubot), but the latter cases seem so unnecessary when the Eggrobos really nailed Eggman's silly narcissism perfectly. They should have become the defacto guards/sidekicks for Eggman indefinitely, in my opinion. They're really perfectly designed.

Hm, there's also the Egg Pawns which can be considered a successor to the Eggrobos, and those have stuck around and became more standard infantry. They do everything from fighting to construction.

They're obviously designed after Eggman as well.

Egg Pawns are really rubbish though.

my heart tells me Scratch and Grounder, but I don't care who is best to be honest. I have nothing against Orbot and Cubot

My favorites are Orbot and Cubot. Orbot has some nice sass and Cubot makes for some good comic relief. They work really well together and act as nice foils for Eggman. I'm also fond of Scratch and Grounder from AoStH and Snively in SatAM.

I really like the Egg Pawns, they have a fun cute design and I get nothing but nostalgic Sonic Heroes vibes when I encounter them.

Orbot and Cubot definitely have the most personality and presence in recent years than any of Eggman's robots in the games, and for that I thank them. It's fun to see Eggman bicker with someone else that isn't a talking technicolor animal.

This one might be an unusual choice but it's "Time for a change of pace!"

Sonic 06's Egg Gunners. Yeah, they look like generic robots, but they still give out a nostalgic vibe to me. Maybe it's my love for Transformers or robots in general but I like the sleek design on them.

So sue me.

Probably Scratch and Grounder.

But I also like Grimer from STC a lot, even though he's probably the most obscure sidekick of the whole bunch.

Heh, I'll do you one better; look up Eggor and then try and find ANY fanart or fanfiction featuring the guy.

Me, I've always been fond of Snively; whether as the abused, malicious and scheming nephew of Robotnik or the exasperated and sardonic nephew of Eggman, I like the dynamic he has with the Big Round Guy in whatever form.

Whilst I'd say Orbot and Cubot in terms of just generally being better characters I actually have to go with Scratch and Grounder, simply put AOSAT is just so insane and stupid that it becomes hilarious, hence Scratch and Grounder win as they're just funnier.

Damn, I was really outdone. I've never even heard of that dude, probably because I've never read any of the novels, but I would like to get my hands on them.

I always liked the SSSSS Squad as Robotnik's goons, but they're too comical to be his right-hand men in a serious tale. So i'd have Snively take that role. Grimer's pretty cool too.
