TheChris110
FAST Racing NEO is a futuristic racing game that will be released 2015 exclusively for Wii U (in the eshop). The game looks very promising but probably a lot of people don't know about it so I thought it would be a good idea to post a new topic. Here are first details: - It'll run at 60fps (frames per second) and 720p - It'll support 1-4 local multiplayer - Online racing and online rankings will be included - The first footage will be shown in June. Linkabel
I can't wait to play it, especially now that I've seen screenshotd. A lot of people were saying it looks like F-Zero but to me it reminds me of Wipeout and I remember loving that game.
Shaddy Zaphod
Aren't F-Zero and Wipeout kinda similar anyway?
Phos
A somewhat unfortunately timed kickstarter might steal some of this game's thunder. I hope they did away with the Ikaruga mechanic? was a really weird choice. Aren't F-Zero and Wipeout kinda similar anyway? Not really, they're both anti gravity racing games, but that's about where the similarities end.
TheChris110
I don't think Formula Fusion is a problem. FAST is Wii U exclusive and Formula Fusion is only on other platforms. What could be a problem is the announcement of a new F-Zero game. Although I don't think there will be one in the near future. But even IF Nintendo announces F-Zero you should buy both anyway imo. Shin'en supports Nintendo a lot and they are one of the very few indie developers which make games with good graphics. I think the Ikaruka mechanic is good. It works and it distinguishes the game from other similar games.

gato
And here's the E3 version of the trailer (it's the same than the one posted above just with the intro and outro trimmed) I'm actually really looking forward to this one, I could use some more Wipeout on my life. Phos
I tend to look for something pretty specific in these kinds of games and thus far this doesn't really look like it has it. FWIW, no idea if Formula Fusion has it either. Wipeout didn't have it for quite a while, lost it when Wipeout Fusion came out. Quantum Redshift went for it, but had its own eccentricities. Fatal Inertia kind of had it, but had it's own completely different set of eccentricities.
YoshiUnity
Man, I'm glad that there are some people interested in this game. I mean the only reason that makes me hesitant is the possible hard drive space it takes up. But then again, this is Shin'en that's making this. These guys are wizards and have make games like these on Wiiware. Fast Racing League: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l91a1zYtYjI Jett Rocket: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sur6kShQLrc So they know how to squeeze blood out of a stone... with Alchemy. And seeing what they're doing on the eShop is amazing. I see a lot of people avoiding this because it's not F-Zero. Let me ask you this... When's the next F-Zero coming out? This game isn't F-Zero, it doesn't need to be and isn't trying to be. It is it's own high speed racer and really deserves to be looked at. And believe me, I love F-Zero. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiqRE2E-ChMThis is some old footage from E3. But while it's old, and the player's performance is a bit off. I feel that this video is currently the best piece of footage to show off what the game has to offer. It looks leaps better than Fast Racing League. Also unlike F-Zero, the courses have more dynamic obstacles with more than the track trying to get in your way. And still used the Ikaruga-esque color mechanics to grant boosts pads and shortcuts. But instead of black and white, it's orange and blue now. Honestly, if Nintendo doesn't want Sega to work on another F-Zero -- or however that scenario went -- I'd totally be up for Shin'en making the mantle.
