South Park: The Fractured But Whole

Well holy shit, I did not expect this. A sequel to the well-received South Park: The Stick of Truth will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC next year and is being developed by Ubisoft's San Francisco division rather than Obsidian. The story continues on as the kids play superheroes this time around. Get ready to join the Coon, Mysterion, Toolshed, Human Kite and Mosquito Mint Berry Crunch in the struggle against Professor Chaos.

The trailer pokes fun at the previous game's battle mechanics, suggesting that we're in for a bit of an upgrade. Matt Stone and Trey Parker themselves came on stage at Ubisoft's E3 conference, expletives and all and pointed out that, in true superhero fashion, this is an origin story for the New Kid. They also mentioned plenty of fractured buttholes...

I'm VERY excited for this. I enjoyed Stick of Truth a lot, so I'm completely down for a Sequel. The superhero episodes of South Park were great, so I'm really happy they expand on all of this and we're actually able to play it, it should be fucking awesome! I just hope they ramp up the difficulty a bit since SoT was really easy, but yeah, very excited for this :D

I am very very fucking hyped for this. I loved the first game to bits, and I'm a massive fan of South Park and I'm more excited than ever to play through. Even better, they'll likely let you choose your powers and everything.

I also guessed this a few weeks ago where I said I was hoping for a sequel based on the Coon episodes.

I haven't even played the first yet I am extremely excited for this. I love it when developers do 'naughty' titles for their games too. :D

HYYYYYYPPPPPEEE!

Did not see this coming, I only decided to check out Ubisoft's conference because I had nothing better to do, and boy am I glad I did.

Can't wait to find out more about this, the development process should be a lot smoother this time than what Stick of Truth had to go though.

I'm still freaking out about this!!! Ever since I finished the first game, I always hoped that if we had a sequel, it would be based around the superheroes (because they're the best! Obviously!)

Goodness gracious, having Mysterion on my team. JUST... YES!

2016 release and I'm fine with it. Enough games I want this year! And definitely getting it on PS4!

SOUTH PARK HYPE HYPE HYPE!

I had a thought about how the story will work.

From what the trailer says, I think you'll actually start with Cartman retaking the stick of truth and you'll be in the fantasy setting until Butters turns into Professor Chaos, steals the stick, and due to the stick of truth allowing whoever welds it to be ruler of reality, Butters changes the rules of the game to superheroes, forcing everyone to don new outfits and abilities.

GET HOOOOOOOIIIIIPPPPEEDDD!!!

The one announcement that wasn't leaked and came out as a total surprise to me!

Hopefully this game improves the difficulty and RPG combat from the last one. If I'm not getting my Paper Mario fix in Mario and Luigi Paper Jam, this game will gladly suffice.

Hero theme will be cool though, wonder if you're a boy protagonist again.

I hope that they find some way in this to add some of the cut content from Stick of Truth. Goth Kids, Crab People, etc.

Still though, pretty damn hyped for this. Shame that release will most likely be like, 1-2 years away from now.

I bought Stick of Truth today and I am really enjoying it, so I will most likely buy this too. I just hope that it's more or less on par with Stick of Truth, since Obsidian isn't behind this one.

So, while I loved the above trailer, and the wide number of take thats towards the comic book genre in general, I noticed something pretty big.

It looks like the story's been rewritten from what we've seen in 2015. If you recall, the story was more about The Stick of Truth fracturing the alliances that was forged in Stick of Truth, however things gets switched to a superhero theme after Butters steals the stick for himself, and alters the rules, forcing it into a superhero game, leaving the boys with no choice but to comply, work together, and stop Professor Chaos.

Now it's changed to be a massive Civil War parody, which isn't bad in of itself, actually it's a clever idea, depending on how much the game runs with the concept. Still, it would have been cool if for like the first hour, it's still the fantasy setting complete with the old turn based system of combat, and then Butters retakes the stick, and forces it into a full superhero game, changing how the combat works and everything.

Okay fuck Ubisoft. This shit is worse than MN9 and Brawl. They really should have better handled this thing

Woah woah woah now that's an exaggeration there. At least Ubisoft has proven their worth thanks to the stick of truth unlike MN9.

I guess, but 4 years since announcing the thing and still barely any news on it just makes me question just what the fuck is going on over there to warrant these big ass delays from a AAA dev. If this ends up taking longer than KH3, I will be literally mouth drop

It was 2 years ago though? 4 would be bad, yeah. The delays suck of course, but with so many amazing games coming out already this year, I'm ok to wait. I thought this news came out a few weeks ago anyway?
