Show More doesn't really Show More

I'm guessing the idea of the show more thing is to make the status area smaller until you click on it, but I don't think it's working as intended, at the moment it just blocks out the text at the bottom of a status without saving any space.

I've noticed this too. Even for super long statuses that take up the whole screen it just covers the last line.

It tries to leave you in suspense for that last sentence. But yeah, even the long ones completely show up and only get a last bit at the end cut off. Got no problem with long statuses, but the function could be a bit better.

The feature was implemented because the initial setting forces you to go to the status page to read the status in full, which was pretty inconvenient.  Especially since the cutoff for that was so frustratingly small that it was nearly impossible to get a complete thought out.

Honestly I think it'd be better if it just showed the whole status regardless of it's length, and we had the old "show replies" function back. I know that's kind of veering off of the original point of this thread, but it's just a suggestion that came to mind when thinking about the problem.

Isn't it worse though now having that little show more label blocking text without actually adding anything? Might as well not have anything there at all. Or might as well fix it. 

What would be better is having a working slide out div expander thingy, maybe something like this?

Those would be better solutions, of course.  I wouldn't know if there's anything keeping us from implementing something like that.  IIRC, there was some trouble getting even the current form was met with challenge.

The setting is supposed to cut off at a particular line count. In some cases it seems as though it isn't working and in other cases it doesn't do much more than annoy. I'll try to readjust it.
