Project Treasure, Bandai Namco’s January-announced free-to-play Wii U game that we last saw in May, is officially titled Lost Reavers, Bandai Namco announced.

Here are some details, via the game’s official website:

About Lost Reavers

Enjoy cooperative online play in this Wii U-exclusive free-to-play digital game. It comes loaded with a “Multi-View Action System” not yet seen before. A new type of action game awaits. Get in on the mission now!

Bring Back Hidden Relics

The objective of Lost Reavers is to bring back “Relics,” unknown treasures hidden throughout the world. From ancient ruins to modern remains, Relics are hidden throughout various locations, and many an obstacle must be overcome in order to obtain them.

Unite With Friends

In order to efficiently bring back Relics, you can take on stages with friends. Provide each other cover, attack together, and take on even the mightiest of missions!

For example, the movement speed of the player carrying the Relic is slower than normal, and he cannot issue attacks. If he’s attacked, he’ll drop the Relic on the ground. If you’re protected by a friend, you’ll be able to safely clear the area.

Battle Huge Monsters

Depending on the stage and which route you choose to take, it’s possible you’ll reach a room where a huge monster awaits. These monsters are without mercy and attack intruders incessantly, but by uniting with friends, defeating the enemy is never impossible.

Multi-View Action System

While there are cases where the character you’re controlling specializes in shooting, you can freely switch between viewpoints through the unique “Multi-View Action System,” and from there can get a more accurate shot at the enemy without getting close.

A Japanese beta test is scheduled to commence within the coming days. The first official trailer provides a look at gameplay.

They still haven't said anything about the monetization for the game yet, right? I'm a bit concerned about that but if they do it in a similar fashion of Rise of Incarnates, then it'll be a very solid experience.

I'm still going to give it a shot just because I'll have a sleek badass game to play with my Wii U friends.

Played quite a bit of the Lost Reavers beta. There's some fun that could be had here, but overall it feels a bit stiff -- which can be tweaked -- and online matches can run very spotty at times. Sometimes I had to wait a second for my moves to connect. If they do something about the connection and give players a "Play with friends option" this could be a fun F2P game on the Wii U once the full release is ready.

And at the end of the day, it's free-to-play, so I'm not expecting anything spectacular. However, as jank as this game feels at times, I find myself still playing the beta. I've been playing as Victoria -- the woman with the automatic and revolvers and got her up to level 15. The further you level up, the more fun and frantic the game gets. Also, for this being a free-to-play game, I don't feel all that pressured to purchase anything to level up faster and to have better weapons. Of course, there's nothing to buy now, but I hope this stays true once the full release comes.
