I've recently dived back into playing my Dreamcast excessively, mainly right now with Sonic Adventure. As such, yesterday I suddenly wanted to draw a character that deserves way more recognition in my eyes. It's only my 2nd time ever drawing him now:

Attached File E-102 Gamma.png   234.37KB  57 downloads
(Apologies for the poor photo quality, taken from my laptop's webcam.)

E-102 Gamma. Took me a fair while to finish, and there are still some things I'm not quite happy with, I feel I got the shape of his torso a bit out, I think the mid-section of his arm is too long and I believe that hanging metal plate needs to be a bit bigger-among other things. Overall though I feel it turned out pretty well. I used HB, B, 2B, 4B and 6B pencils.

I like the new Knuckles art but prefer the more dynamic posture of the old artwork, the other artwork in your wallpaper series really captured the personalities of the characters but this pose isn't quite as 'Knuckles' as the previous one.

Don't get me wrong it's still fantastic artwork, you've got the classic SA style down perfectly.

I adore that Amy sketch as well, it's too cute for words.

I see your point and I wondered about it before. Taking in your view, when I retrieve the file again I'm thinking of experimenting with different facial expressions and perhaps removing that thumb and turning the whole hand into a fist. I'll see what modifications I can make to give it a more 'Knuckles' appearance, it hasn't been submitted to DeviantART yet :P. Thanks sincerely for the compliments though, for Knuckles and Amy!

Also got a new drawing of Metal Sonic which will become his new wallpaper as well, I'm very excited to re-make this one. There's also a drawing of Chaos 0 which is likely to see the same future. I'll show those later.

I don't really want this one to be viewed as fan art despite it being Sonic related. It's an advertisement I made for my Graphic Design A2 course, it's inspired by artist Patrick Boyer. The task was to make an advertisement for a product, based on the style of an artist of your choice. Obviously the product I chose to advertise were comic books, more specifically, Sonic comics.

So, a while back I was really into the idea of printing Sonic-themed designs over my Ibanez guitar, but the idea fell flat when I couldn't find a suitable way of getting the design onto the guitar. Recently however, I've gone back into the idea with a brand new design and a much better mindset on how the whole thing works. This is the design I'm currently working with (still needs the SEGA copyright on it)

Attached File guitar design copy.png   289.35KB  36 downloads

I'll have the guitar disassembled so I can take the body away (I've got a quote for disassembly and reassembly at £45) and do my thing. I've also found a professional printing agency who should be able to print the design straight onto the super-strength Lexan polycarbonate. I need to call them up on Monday and get a quote...looks like the whole thing could cost around £60-£70. I hope to have the whole thing finished by my Birthday (October 21st). I'll make to sure to show the finished product when it's done! I also wouldn't mind making a Guitar pick with the SEGA logo on it to match the guitar, it should be a simple job.

Sadly I can't get the guitar disassembled just yet though because I need it in one piece this week for some final filming to go towards my Moving Image A2 work. Right now I'm making a music video forthis song which I'm really excited to be doing, when it's done I should be able to show it (providing I'm happy with how it turns out :P). Along with all that, I have a small tonal drawing of the aforementioned guitar which was done on Thursday for Graphic Design, the A2 course hasn't quite picked up pace yet but when it does I hope to have some things to show for that to, for now though it's just something small:

Attached File SCAN0051.jpg   573.46KB  51 downloads

Finally, I have the drawing of Metal Sonic I talked about earlier to show, this will eventually become his new wallpaper. Progress on Rouge is pretty mnimal at the moment now that education is back to haunt my life.

Updated Guitar design, realised that on old one that the spiral would spread onto the back of the guitar which I don't want, spreading to the sides if fine but not the back. Compacted the design a bit more, I think this is better, hopefully you do as well:

So, recently I've started a new film project in my Moving Image class at College, I decided it'd be a good idea to try out some hand-drawn animation, one because I've always wanted to (this is my first time doing it for real) and two as a perk for University applications. I've gone to making a 20 second animation movie to this piece of music and I've got a small piece of animation to show off. The theme I chose is Rhythm and Movement so to link this in with the film, Sonic's movements will be synchronised with the music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XGR4OAFx6Y

Here's the storyboard for the film, each scene is numbered from 1-8. Apologies for the slightly odd arrangement though, The opening scene is on the bottom right, followed by the top left and then from there it makes sense. Below each scene is a time duration, this shows how long each scene will last during the song. You'l notice the animation sequence shown is Scene 7 (without the background). The moment Sonic starts attacking the Caterkiller will be the moment the final fast drum beat takes place, the spinning sequence will be extended to match the song in the final film.

I've also got a lineart preview for Metal Sonic's upcoming wallpaper.

Boom baby.
Finally finished it.

Copy/paste description from DA:

And clocking in before the year's end is Metal Sonic's revised wallpaper. A brand new image that I first sketched in Tenerife back in August, then painstakingly improved using Channel Art and 3D model shots as a guide to capturing his new appearance, I simplified some parts to help enforce the classic SA style.

I'm pretty happy with this, I believe it's leaps and bounds ahead of the old wallpaper and I'm very happy to have a brand spanking new one. I hope you like it!

That looks SICK dude.

Thanks! Speaking of which, that should be finished within a week or two :). To recap progress, the companies I went to were not able to print the design in the right way and after a while I began to loose hope it'd get done. I got back on track however last week thanks to the Yellow Pages and found a place in Southampton who I visited and they said they'd be able to do it no problem. To keep the price down, I had to remove the faded areas, they were the repeated Sonic images and the spiral. The Sonic repeats were removed and spiral was taken up to 100% opacity. After doing work to create a vector file I ended up with this final design (Ignoring the guitar shape template).
Attached File guitar-design.png   177.24KB  24 downloads
It's going to be cut from solid white vinyl which will then be applied directly to the Guitar body at a price of around £60. I was disappointed I had to take away the faded elements but I just couldn't afford the price, luckily I still think it's a successful design and will look good.

Hmmm, just completed a life drawing profile of my girlfriend, not happy with it D: might get some feedback here if people reply. People say I'm too hard on myself and I want too much perfection but I'm declaring now I can't replicate the human face. I wish I could see the ability of other students my age to compare with myself...I just don't feel confident about my own ability.

(Oops, accidentally deleted the picture D: ......I can't really be bothered to put it back, I wasn't proud of it anyway as this post displays)

Blegh.

What do you guys think? Please try and find some positives haha. I can see the hair is far too wide

Just an update to say I handed over the Guitar body on Friday along with the artwork. It's gonna cost £30+VAT (was able to knock the price down due to them not needing to make any alterations to the artwork, it was already good to go). They're gonna apply the design to the body on Monday or Tuesday :) I'll post pics of the body by Wednesday at the latest. Then I need to reassemble the guitar.

Took a lot of searching, designing, adjusting and time but at long last it's done :) I have to admit, the photos don't do the real thing justice. As I said before, the design was cut from solid white Vinyl which was then applied directly to the body. The result is a very smooth to touch and very crisp image on the guitar, it's really very striking to look at. You can feel a slight ridge to the lines which also give the body a new texture and feel. I'm really very proud of this, only problem is I think I might be too scared of damaging it to actually play it! £30 well spent.

Now to get it put back together...

Over a year after the first designs for this thing, I present the finished article.

Well....I say finished. It's got no strings and nothing's wired together so it's pretty much just an attractive chunk of wood and metal. It will be wired up and functional again soon.

OK guys, looking for some feedback on these three pieces for a presentation I'm putting together. I've got two (three kinda....2 1/2) Sonic items that are all about the 20th Anniversary and what I'm looking for now is audience contact, in other words I want to hear what you guys think of these pieces. Your words will help me in my presentation as I will use what you say as examples of what the audience thinks of my ideas. I'll say though, I'm only really looking for positive feedback, this is to help sell these. Also please leave your name, your country and your county/state whatever.

Do you like these products?
Would you buy them if they were on sale?

As far as the t-shirts go, I don't like the anniversary logo on the sleeves but they otherwise look very good. And the statue, well, I'm almost crying about the fact it isn't real. I'd definitely buy it.
