BTW, this basically confirms that Casino Street is before Lost Labyrinth in stage order.

I feel sorry for them, but I'm not buying the same game on three different systems just because it leaked. I'd re-buy a complete disc based version though. =)

The thread is hidden to rid all links to the videos. And it's lock to prevent any talk that doesn't lead to retarded shit.

Well that sucks.

First of all, it's was never SEGA's fault this got leaked. It's was and always has been PartnerNET. and even if we avoid watching the videos, the entire thread will talk about the videos in mind, thus spoiling it for everyone else.

Hmm well I would argue that a company as big as SEGA would check to make sure partnerNET was reliable and not dodgy. Furthermore, how long has it been since the first leaks? Ample time to take some action against them or to pull it I would say, no?

Not even close. They look similar but have their own play styles that separates them from the Genesis brethren. It's stupid logic like that that got the Sonic 4 thread on Retro removed and making the NeoGAF one just as retarded.

Can't help but feel bad for SEGA/Dimps for Mircosoft's shitty security, but the damage is done.

Well that's subjective. I personally only see a HD reimagining of Sonic 1 & 2 zones complete with the EXACT same bosses, it's not so much a new game as it is cutting and pasting from the old games and adding a nice layer of shiny new HD....and a layer of spew encrusted homing attack. Sonic 4 it is not.

Plus, banning people for leaks is lunacy. You know what you do if you don't want stuff spolied for you? Avoid Sonic forum sites. Seriously, have some damn wilpower. I personally avoid Sonic Stadium for a few weeks or months even when an upcoming Sonic game that I actually have interest in is soon to be released.

It's plain and simple; people getting annoyed that they've ruined stuff for themselves then rather than placing the blame inwards wanting to blame someone else.

If you don't want the game ruined DON'T LOOK! And if SEGA don't want the game ruined (though I'd argue it's inherently ruined) then take some better precautions.....or better yet, make it non DLC - it's alot harder for people to get their hands on an actual physical copy isn't it.

Resisting the levels and bosses is easy enough for me, but the cliff hanger?! Oh God.

Guess I better pack my bags before I click the "Show" button on someone's Spoiler Tags.

Looks like this is the same alpha build that got leaked a while ago, right down to the physics. Therefore, I hope SEGA takes the time to tighten the physics. Who knows? Maybe dash panels are beta test objects due to the wonky physics, though I doubt it.

ALSO. I wish they would make the final boss music longer. If it's gonna be such a long fight, there is no reason for such a wimpy loop. It's annoying. >:|

I don't even see why people would want to ruin the game for themselves. It's like peeking at Christmas presents. At first, it's OK, you look at something small that you're going to get, and it's pretty much harmless. You look at a couple more, then you're a little less excited for when you actually get them, because you know most of what you're getting. But once you look at all the presents, what excitement do you have left? I'm ashamed at Infinity, all those who begged him to post more videos, and even a little at those who watched them.

Personally, I stopped looking at the leaks after the very first Splash Hill video, and didn't even listen to all the music that was leaked. It just doesn't seem right, and I feel extremely bad for SEGA. They should sue Infinity, but I doubt that would happen.

I didn't really mind spoiling a game like this for myself honestly. I did the same thing with NSMBW by watching the final Bowser fight. It's really only story heavy games that I don't like spoilers for. If anything seeing

Super Sonic

and knowing

Metal Sonic

will be in episode 2 make me want it more.

Also since we're getting boss rehashes anyway, I demand a Doomsday Zone rehash (with new stuff added) at some point!

*facepalm*

Partner.NET is a Microsoft requirement. It was either use it, or don't release S4 on the 360.

If episode 2 and 3 have to be placed on partnerNET in order to go to the 360 then they should just release the 360 version later. This way Sega can release the rest spoiler free simply by not having it on partnerNET until it releases on PS3 & Wii. It might not be fair for 360 owners to have to wait but it beats the whole game being leaked again.

I don't think that beats the game being leaked at all, there are a LOT of 360 owners who would be hurt because of that. and honestly, the only people who have seen the leaked game are people who are REALLY looking for information about Sonic 4. there are plenty of gamers out there who have never been on a sonic forum, and they will still buy the game. P-net needs to come up with some legal security means and actually enforce them. this leaker guy should be made an example of.

Ok, something is going down. As of right now Microsoft has taken down PartnerNET and apparently are starting an internal investigation into the S4 leaks.

Wow, so nobody think that this game is turning out to be a pretty crappy game? I mean from watching the videos you could say that the game can be finished within 20 minutes, without efforts whatsoever.

I'll pass for this game, i'll be supporting sonicteam when they come to their senses. Imo sonicteam doesn't desorve the money from any of you. Though that's for you to decide.

I'm really ashamed for them that this is "sonic 4". Crazy old crackheads that they are

It's not even half of the whole game, of course it's going to short. None of the classic games take more than a hour or so to beat if you know the level layout anyway.

First off, everybody should realize and keep in mind, this is only the 1st part of Sonic 4. I think it's very fitting to have a lot of nostalgia in the first part of a series that hasnt been continued in 16 years. I would be highly surprised if ep2 and 3 were not much more innovative and creative in terms of level themes and bosses.

Actually, if you look at the times the recorder person is taking and add them up, it's around 50 minutes. Keep in mind, this 50 minutes DOES NOT include every emerald's special stage, it only shows one special stage. One play through of the game will probably take more than an hour, which is pretty consistent with the classics, especially considering the game is only 4 main zones long.

Very glad to hear this.

Yea, but how can you guys be so positive. Are you guys serious??

Yes i'm serious, and yes I am positive about this game. I'm also being honest though about your "time to finish the game" comment. The recordings show almost an hour of gameplay, and that's not the entire game being shown. Why are you so negative about the game? Are you serious?

Why so serious?

I survived Sonic '06 and I'm still in love with this series. Sonic 4 can't be worst.

THANK F**K MIRCOSOFT ARE DOING FINALLY DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS, It's about time they did something about this whole thing Infinty should be pretty much sued for leaking out the whole game out and breaching of NDA I hope SEGA rips him a new one.

This game is looking so freaking awesome tho I must say It will on top of list of games I want for 2010 =D

[Edit

Yea, but how can you guys be so positive. Are you guys serious??

Why are we positive......cause it looks like the best Sonic game since Advance 1 tbh IMO and yes we most of us are serious on what we say about the game you don't like that well sorry you will have to put up with it]

Although I believe that this game has it's problems, you should realize that this is a third of a game, so it's about as long as the other games ( If you factor in speed-runs of the earlier games compared to this run, they're about as long as a third or half of all three episodes of Sonic 4). The original trilogy wasn't long either; the player has experience with the Sonic4 levels, so we probably won't be as fast during the first round. Also, this kind of "requirement" for needing a longer game is what got us the were-hog and long ass repetitiveness in 3-d levels in the first place. Portal was also this long, and it's been known as one of the most acclaimed games in years, I agree with the idea of replayabillity being better than artificial lengthening. I'll probably test this out to see whether or not I buy it, even though I am also disappointed as it isn't a continuation. but a tribute to the classics, I'll try to play it and have fun keeping in perspective of this type of behavior, as I've dealt with worse games, Sonic related and other games.

Where did you hear this? I'd like to know.

Though it's kinda late for them now to Take down PartnerNET, should of done it since the First Act was leaked.

Only one problem with that. Infinity ISN'T under an NDA. He doesn't work for any gaming company. He's actually getting everything secondhand.

My Uni has a game lab with access to PNET, and I'm currently taking a videogame design course so I'm in contact with the professor in charge of the lab. He sent the whole class an e-mail about the current situation.

Also, I also believe that MS should have done something sooner, but one must also consider that this is the first time that the PartnerNET NDA has been violated so throughoutly. I can see two possible outcomes after this: either PNET access is restricted to only game devs, or MS allows an universal per-game access restriction while a game is in PNET.

I don't know which of the two outcomes is more likely, but one of the two HAS to happen, this leak has been too high profile and highlights the big weakness of the PNET security: the NDA is the only thing that was stopping the info from leaking.

I'm pretty sure the game will still be fun none the less. The great thing about these types of games is that they hardly get old. You'll play it through once and then want to come back to it the next day. Plus, once the other two episodes come along, I'm sure you'll be able to go through all of them in one stretch, probably making it the longest "classic" Sonic game yet.

Just watched the leaks...I have a shit load to say so if you are willing to listen, grab a seat and chill. Now I could go on and do what the usual person would do to try and get attention and say "Oh I'm...years old and I've been a Sonic fan since... " but Ill skip that all because that really doesn't matter...and it probably wont change the way people see you on the web so... I was incognito for a month but I was still lurking the forums for new info from time to time and I have to say after watching these leaks get released consecutively...I feel really bad for the developers, Although this is the teams fault for not holding their information in tight enough, the leaker should have at least a little respect for the developers and keep those leaks to themselves. I know I am probably going to get attacked for that but I truly believe that. Secondly, I knew this fan base was ridiculous but people at the SEGA boards are cursing out the admins because they "lied"? thats truly uncalled for, all this fanbase really needs is ALOT of maturity. Other fanbases I know aren't nearly as bad but I guess that will just be people in general. If they don't get what they want, they bitch, simple as that. Something I noticed is that...the physics suck...now I really just wonder if the people that where bitching about Sonics eye color and design feel even the slightest bit stupid. Now they get to play a physically challenged(lol) game without the design they wanted.

Now for my own opinion on the game: It LOOKS fantastic, and plays...I'm not going to say "Horribly" because nothing is as bad as 06', but the game doesn't have the best physics in the world. To make me happy, they just have to fix the acceleration...BUT I don't see that happened. LLZ reminds me of a mix of Labyrinth zone and Tidal Tempest and I have to say it will probably be my favorite zone, such nostalgia... About the other zones...there cool, very oldschool actually, but I have to admit, there are parts that remind me more of the advance series than the genesis series. Ill probably hate Casino Street though... The Homing attack/Jump Dash...I dont have to use it so therefore I'm cool with it. I actually like what they are doing with episode 1; Refreshing everything...nice start. I forgot who said it but someone at SEGA said episode 1 will just be an intro but I still hear people bitching about the rehashiness of it all. Nonsense.

I said my piece, I have my shield...I honestly don't intend on using a sword unless someone gets out of hand...I am ready for the attacks...GO!

I actually agree with you, except on this fiasco being the devs' fault. If anything, Microsoft should be at more blame than the devs, but nowhere NEAR as much as the leaker. If MS didn't have this "you need to send XBLA titles to PartnerNET" thing, we probably would still have only 3 seconds of footage to look at. I have to give SEGA major props for having close to NOTHING be leaked from their sloppy security. Apparently MS didn't expect their "honor system" that PartnerNET uses for security to be thrown out the window by Sonic fans.
